JGooders edit

Hi,

I am trying to create an article about JGooders because it is an amazing e-philanthropy site and other sites similar have articles on Wikipedia such as network for change. I do not know how to go about having this article created without getting deleted. Any suggestions or help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JGooders (talkcontribs) 11:26, 3 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

More user talk page protection edit

I noticed that you protected the user talk page User talk:212.138.69.18 after constant vandalism from a single user. The same user is also changing another user talk page consistently (User talk:212.138.47.15), and it may need protection as well. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 12:45, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

what articles are you talking about —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.194.54.249 (talk) 02:14, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

They aren't articles, they are IP addresses that keep vandalizing their talk page by removing warnings placed by other users. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 05:21, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I initially thought you were adding on to the topic above. However, in response to what edits were made by "you," this is what I wrote on your talk page:
More specifically, edits to Ancient Egyptian medicine: like this one and this one. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 05:26, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Give Yahya Al-Shiddazi and John Borriello their respectiver pages back edit

Not doing so would be rude and will be reported to Jimmy Whales immediately. Thanks for your pooperation--I mean cooperation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.138.113.11 (talk) 12:34, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Since IP addresses can change with every page, users are encouraged to create an account so that they can use their user page as they see fit (with some limitations). The pages that I think you are referring to are technically not "their" pages, but are in fact, pages to be used by that public IP address. Therefore, if Yahya and John wish to have a page of their own, they should register. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 13:18, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Expedition 20 crew wiki table edit

I seen the table you made for the crew of Expedition 20. I think it looks really good and makes it a lot easier to understand. I hope you don't mind, but I ran with it and added tables to Expedition 21 and Expedition 22. I think I have done them right, maybe you could take a look and let me know.--Navy blue84 (talk) 02:48, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Exact dates are really hard. Since there are sometimes technical delays or weather delays. However with ISS expeditions, after the next crew rotation, there will be a short time when it is a 3 person crew. The shuttle crews won't be doing rotations after Nicole Stott. But I do agree adding exact dates is a great idea and would make it extremely easy to understandable. "would it be appropriate to add a table to an article that would display a time line of who was each position when and for what missions?" I believe you maybe talking about ISS, it is really hard to know who is doing what on the station. They all right now do maintence and a little bit of science. When they go to 6 person (starting 05/28/09) there will be more science, but they will be all over the place. I think putting flight engineer/science officer might be better. For shuttle its a little bit easier, and might be better.--Navy blue84 (talk) 14:17, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I think the way its set up now is perfect. I don't think any more serious changes need to be made.--Navy blue84 (talk) 16:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

In the News error edit

Hi Ian, I saw you updated today's Togo item in In the News. I just left this remark at the Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors#Errors in In the news, but I'll leave it here too FYI: "The item now says that the team "withdraw . . . but reverses their decision." Please correct one verb form to fix this singular/plural error: either "withdraws . . . but reverses" (American style) or "withdraw . . . but reverse" (British style)." Hello! You are listed as an active member of the College Football Project! We have a large number of unreferenced biographies of living persons, but it works out to be just two or three articles per active participant. I've divided up the articles that need help and put them in a table on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football/Unreferenced BLPs. Naval Facility Bermuda edit

Hi, I see you put a contradict tag on the Naval Facility Bermuda article in 2007. I can't see any contradictions in it, though I see there was a disagreement over the name of the article. I've removed the tag, but if you can still see a contradiction and I've missed it, feel free to re-add it with a note on the talk page. Thanks! --Worm 16:00, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

People Are Starting Edit-Wars WIth Me edit

Dear Mrs. IanManka (nice name you have there!),

There is a lobby of WikiUsers who are starting edit wars with me and scrutinizing every last word I write. The only reason is because I had a "unsable background" and used to be a WikiVandal. But I've Changed! And now they are cyber-bullying me and planning on blocking me. Please help. They keep calling in their friends to join in a post bans on me, but I have no one to stick -up for me! You may remember me, as I became quite famous for my excessive vandalism way back in '08. Anyways, please try to help out. Next time they say anything rude or offensive, I will come straight to you, and I am fully confident you'll be there to help out! Thank you so much, Mrs. IanManka (did I mention you have such a beautiful name?)

Regardingly,

-Yahya Al-Shiddazi (Famous retired WikiVandal)

      • Thanks guys. Appretiate it. IMPORTANT: James B. Watson did it again. I asked for the translation of some Slovak episode summary ON AN ENGLISH Wikipedia page, and he rudely reverted my edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Mesto_tie%C5%88ov (see the history of that page). Please tell them to stop all this cyberbullying or I'll sue. So they think there good at throwing warnings on people's talk pages...Well here's one warning for them; if these petty edit wars continue, I'll sue. That's right Mr. Watson, I'll sue you and Dennis. This is unconstitutional and not to mention against Wikipedia policies. You yourself admitted that the only reason you reverted my edit is because I'm not a registered user. What about all the other non-users publishing articles and recieving Barnstar awards? Huh? Let's get our act back together, aight? - Yahya Al-Shiddazi — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.109.128.78 (talk) 22:51, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

MSU Interview edit

Dear IanManka,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talkcontribs) 22:53, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
