As someone who is highly irreligious and dislike any whitewashed and glorified idea of religion in any form of media, I agreed with some parts of that article but its way to much speculation to come to that conclusion. They are looking at things with their hyper left leaning equal representation of minority and symbolism crap. There is no particular event or act which is "islamophobic" which is in itself is a term i am very skeptical about. i haven't played the game but agree that the game seems to whitewash and glorify hinduism a tad bit more with modern ideas of ethics to better fit the picture. That said the issues the author had with the post was something that can be basically shortened to three events :
No representation of the Islamic or Mughal history of india and trying to glorify the idea of a brahmanical balance that is essential coupled with no other alternative acceptable even though the game has art and architecture influenced by mughal culture :
The game is fiction. That's it. Its a whitewashed idea of a religion that caters to a target demographic that wants their culture to be glorified. What the heck do you expect? Lets treat games as a factious story that has no real need for balancing western ideas of equality representation. The author seems to have no idea of possible ramifications of making fun of any religion or culture is in India.
2) The idea that one of the villains is a witch with exposed breasts and the symbolism of it being how a woman of loose morals are demonised : I am gonna be honest that I never saw this part of the game. But this is gross over interpretation at best if the dialogue is not actually geared towards shaming the crone for being of loose morals. The symbolism may exist or may simply draw from archaic forms of enemies from other games where monsters or the baddies ar often semi naked(god of war duh)
3) The idea that all Raksha's are evil and pollute the land, they cite that various small regions dotted within India pray or revere some of these individuals termed as demons or rakshas and that at a certain village near bengal some villagers pray to mahishasura and dislike durga : while that may be true : the game is based on more widely accepted ideas of mythology and that the audience is aware of. Hindu mythology is full of such conflicts in beliefs owing to its huge intermixing past.
The author simply has these extreme western ideas about equal representation, brahminical supremacy and slut shaming symbolism that isn't going to fly in a country like india. Its like comparing apples to oranges.
The game attempts a lot to glorify hindu religion and cultures' as a whole and whitewash the regressive outlooks to appear more exquisite. But in the end its fiction. Religion is just mythology and lore. Iamdannyk (talk) 11:19, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Iamdannyk, well, that's ([1], [2]) not how you should act if you want to remove sourced content. Post your reasoning on article's talk page (but in more concise form, see WP:TLDR), discuss the issue with fellow editors and get a WP:consensus. Arado Ar 196 (CT) 12:07, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
