Zack/Beto
editHowdy. Thanks for trying to improve the Zack de la Rocha article. However, I reverted your change because it doesn't meet a couple of core Wikipedia standards (that aren't always successfully enforced, but we try). First, our biography of living people standard requires us to have excellent quality sources for contentious or negative statements about all living people mentioned in an article; Beto is living so the policy applies to statements about him in his son's article. Second, our reliable source guideline says: "Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." The cited FAQ has no particular reputation for reliability; it's an anonymous web publication that might be right, but might isn't good enough for such a negative statement like that. And finally, though I didn't fully read the FAQ, the part I did read didn't have anything about Beto being taken away by the police, so it didn't seem to fully support the added material even if it was a reliable source. If you can find better sourcing for the statement, please feel free to re-add it with the new source. I know this may seem to be hyper-fussy, but we try not to hurt people through sloppy editing or repeating Internet rumors. Studerby (talk) 17:15, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

edit You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Rammstein. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. – Richard BB 11:27, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to God Hates Us All, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you to seek consensus for certain edits. Thank you. 187.13.138.63 (talk) 01:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:Adidas188x110.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Adidas188x110.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 22:54, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Flannel Shirt.jpeg
editThanks for uploading File:Flannel Shirt.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 24.2.249.30 (talk) 01:29, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, my name is 71.142.233.100 (talk). Great job on improving the "Nu metal" article! You had added lots of references to the article and cleaned up certain issues on your own. How did you do that? Wanna nominate it as a Good Article (see this link and that link for details)? 71.142.233.100 (talk) 00:52, 23 July 2012 (UTC) thanks, but i still think the article could use a little more work before considering nominating it as a good article
- Great job on your second post... that'll be better recieved. Keep up the great work !

Orphaned non-free media (File:Angry Chair (Alternative Cove)r1.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Angry Chair (Alternative Cove)r1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. I noticed that you removed entries such as Tad (band). I myself did not look at every entry I removed to make sure that their wikiarticle did not have a reliable source to categorize them as alternative metal either, but Tad (band) does have a reliable source on Tad (band) to properly categorize it as alternative metal. Would you be so kind as to check over my edits and yours to make sure we only remove the entries that are legitimately unreliably unsourced on their wikiarticle as well?Curb Chain (talk) 07:20, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Sources regarding 'tripod' album
editHey, buddy as the 'tripod' album contains freaking heavy & eerie songs like Grind, Sludge Factory, Head Creeps & many fans consider it a sludge metal album as well so, if you could find sources that label the self-titled album as sludge metal it will be of much help.I've seen a Sputnikmusic review described the album as Alice in Chains played aggressive ramped up doom metal on occasions. Therefore, I'd request you to look for sources. Bloomgloom talk 12:15, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- well this source calls the album sludge metal http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=ADHB&p_theme=adhb&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0ED0271EF493F7F0&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM but you have to pay money to read the full article, and this source calls the album sludgy http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,299586,00.html those are the only i could find I call the big one bitey
- Is there any chance finding that article in Daily Herald web version, have you searched?Because, I couldn't find anything by entering keywords in google. Bloomgloom talk 12:13, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
nope, but i think the source that calls the album sludgy is enough to warrant adding sludge metal to the album's genre field I call the big one bitey

Speedy deletion nomination of Thrash Funk
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Thrash Funk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 10:00, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Daron Malakian
editHi, about the edit you just made on Daron Malakian, I reverted the whole thing mostly because of the popular thing, which you would admit is not neutral enough for an encyclopedia. But I also reverted the fact that you changed the band's genre. I don't want to be nitpicking, because honestly defining SOAD as either rock, hard rock or alternative metal is pretty much the same, and after all the band is introduced as rock on their page. The fact that SOAD was labelled as hard rock on Daron's page wasn't wrong, it didn't need to be changed. I'm not going to change it back again because it's not that important, I just wanted to point the fact that such changes are unnecessary. Maimai009 16:14, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Sludge metal edits
editHey there. Instead of reverting your edit, I want to state why I took away the information. The individual is an infamous POV-pusher whose main account of Metalvayne (talk · contribs) has been banned from editing and now has to resort to sockpuppeting. For the bit that I took away, I have read the two sources, and concerning the areas of text concerning sludge metal, they both say something to the effect that the Dirt album influenced what later became sludge metal; source 20 uses the term "sludge rock" instead of sludge metal, with quotes as well; that is also the general statement made on the Wikipedia page as well with these sources. Although I would appreciate it if the edits of Ravenlord5150 (talk · contribs) (an account which, upon the sockpuppet investigation has now been indefinitely blocked) be reverted due to the POV-pushing aspect about them, if the edits are indeed determined to be worth keeping then I won't protest and will drop the issue. Hello, I need your help
editHello
We've been confused with an issue regarding the origins of alternative rock with another user and currently we are not able to reach a proper concensus. Our debate continues on our talk pages [1] [2] and unfortunately we're yet to carry on this debate on the talk page of alternative rock. Please feel free to join us to reach to a consensus. I thought that you could help us on this topic, as I rely on your knowledge and skills due to your awesome cooloborative work on alternative metal and other related articles
Thank you, Myxomatosis75 (talk) 00:56, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Oddfellows (album)
editHello
I couldn't really understand what you meant by "consistency" in this edit. I'd be pleased if you'd further explain your rationale for removing the genre section from Oldfellows. Thank you. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 21:51, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Well you should really be asking user Grapple X, because he's the one who came up with the idea of removing genres on Tomahawk albums to avoid genre warring and get Tomahawk articles up to good article status.

Drop tuned Guitars
editWell, from what I know, one of the strings are tuned differently, like a semitone (down). A guitar riff are several notes, so they are not the same. At least when played with the swipe of a hand. I suggest putting back User:Mr. Brain's addition.Curb Chain (talk) 09:55, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Mudvayneposter.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Mudvayneposter.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. License tagging for File:Mudvayne.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Mudvayne.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Nickelback Leader Of Men
editI am sorry at what I did. I think the song is Post-grunge and not grunge. I will find a link to it. The song is really Post-grunge not Grunge. The link that is there seem fake. Nickelback are a Post-grunge band not a GRUNGE band. Even though their first album Curb was grunge. I have to find a link saying that Leader Of Men is post-grunge. If you want to change it and get another more true link you could. I am not going to change anything except if I find a good link. Sorry.
Have you read the source that says its grunge? It says early Nickelback like leader of men typifies grunge, and it's an extremely reliable academic source. I call the big one bitey (talk) 21:45, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
It is early Nickelback but its not original grunge. Leader Of Men is post-grunge not grunge. Nickelback Curb album is grunge but Leader Of Men is coming from a post-grunge album. When it says that leader of men typifies grunge it means it a more radio friendlier grunge which is Post-grunge. The name post means after grunge. I could find links about the song being a post-grunge song. But yeah thanks for the information that you gave. But when they say that Nickelback has this grunge sound it means they were influenced by it and this term is called Post-grunge.

30 Seconds to Mars (album)
editI reverted your edits on 30 Seconds to Mars (album). The source you used does not seem to be reliable (read WP:V). Many critics used those genres when speaking about the second album, not the first one. I think that the writer of that article mixed it up. If you find reliable sources that support those genres, you can re-add them. Regards.--Earthh (talk) 18:05, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:CoalChamber.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:CoalChamber.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:41, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Meshuggah
editYes but be fair it also mentions Hip-Hop and industrial dance in the review so are you saying that they should be added? Lukejordan02 (talk) 02:35, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
It just says it has hints of hip hop and industrial dance in the drum patterns, which it probably does. I think Allmusic defines alternative metal differently from Wikipedia, here on Wikipedia it's defined as heavier, more experimental grunge/alternative rock music from the early 90s, while on Allmusic nu metal, groove metal and alternative metal are usually defined as the exact same thing. --I call the big one bitey (talk) 02:52, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
With respect it doesn't and I personally think that reviewer is talking a load of bollocks, I have left a message on the albums talk page and I am giving it a week if no one objects I will then remove it. Can't say fairer than that. Lukejordan02 (talk) 02:56, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Talk page discussion aside what is your own opinion on the matter? Lukejordan02 (talk) 03:15, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
I wouldn't mind that much if the genre was removed since it does seem sort of misplaced on a thrash metal album. Allmusic is probably the only source on the web that would consider the album alternative metal, the problem is that it's probably one of the only reliable sources on the web for this album. I'm about to invite MrMoustacheMM into the talk page discussion so we can get a third opinion on the matter. I call the big one bitey (talk) 03:31, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Edit warring on Mr. Bungle
editYou appear to be engaged in an edit war on Mr. Bungle regarding the genre used in the particular article. Please discuss changes on the talk page before changing the genre again, and remember to provide adequate sourcing. Thank you. —Dark 11:22, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for interrupt, there's a huge objection on talk page for adding "pop" genre in the infobox. Allmusic reviewer says an alternative rock album, however, he added "comes off as pop". I think "pop" that means a style or a hook, not an actual proper genre. 183.171.175.28 (talk) 11:37, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Nothingface sources
editCan you find any better sources that refer to Nothingface as "nu-metal?" The first two are clearly written by music journalists that loathe anything hard rock or heavy metal, which means they probably don't know squat about the larger genre and just lump bands in with others (i.e. music journalists calling Staind, Trust Company, and Puddle of Mudd nu-metal when they were clearly just hard rock bands). Not to mention that their "reviews" are about 40 words long. I really doubt these qualify as reliable sources. And as for the MusicMight page, I hate to tell you this, but that site was made by user-contributions. They have disabled the abilities now, but users used to be able to edit and add any information on bands that they wanted to. They didn't even have to cite sources. I guess it was their way of creating a music website without having to to the research themselves. "Let's just make the fans fill the info in!" Hsxeric (talk) 00:15, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. editWelcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to St. Anger, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you.--Retrohead (talk) 16:17, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
- The cite you're using nowhere describes St. Anger as a nu metal album. There's plenty of information in your link to add in the nu metal article. By the way, it is always better to open a discussion before you change genres in frequently visited and often disputed articles.--Retrohead (talk) 16:25, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Bleed-the-Freak Vinyl.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Bleed-the-Freak Vinyl.jpg.
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
Thank you. George Ho (talk) 00:21, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Mr. Bungle into California (Mr. Bungle album). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:34, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Dear User:I call the big one bitey
As a member of the "WikiProject Australian rules football" it would be good to hear your opinion on a current debate occurring on the 2018 AFL season talk page.
The debate centres around whether or not a third column should be included in the club attendance table to display "home state games vs. interstate opposition".
The main justification is that Victorian clubs play on average 7 home derbies each year compared to non-victorian clubs who play only 1 home derby each year. This provides an average home figure for Victorian clubs which is inflated as their home games have the fans of other Victorian clubs attending.
Please provide whether you support or oppose this proposal for AFL Club attendance tables.

The file File:Rollins band wrong man.ogg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Insufficiently supported by critical commentary of Weight (album). May fail WP:NFCC#8.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
Also:
- File:Life of agony justified.ogg
- File:Rollins band one shot.ogg
- File:Rollins band another life.ogg
- File:Rollins band on my way to the cage.ogg
- File:Life of agony through and through.ogg
- File:Soulfly Bleed sample.ogg
- File:Life of agony heroin dreams.ogg
- File:Soulfly Jumpdafuckup sample.ogg
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

References
editI see you added a category to Jacinda Ardern and included a reference in your edit summary. That's great, but each category should be supported by the text in the article (which should itself be referenced). Consider some future editor who decides to clean up the categories; they won't find anything in the article to support it, they are unlikely to find your edit summary which might be buried under hundreds of subsequent edits, and so the category will be removed. I suggest you add a line on Ardern's lineage somewhere in the "early life and education" section, with the reference from your edit summary. This is in no way a criticism of your edit, just a way you can make Wikipedia even better.-gadfium 21:41, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Ethnicelebs.com as a reference
editHi I call the big one bitey. I noticed that you used ethnicelebs.com as a source for biographical information in Alex Katunich [5]. Please note that the general consensus as expressed at WP:RSN is that it does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for the inclusion of personal information in such articles. I've gone ahead and removed it. If you disagree, let's discuss it. You may want to check WP:RSP and WP:RSN to help determine if a source is reliable. Thanks.--Hipal (talk) 17:53, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

contradictory statement
edit"Spirit of Metal is normally considered a reliable source" didn't you mean unreliable? SpaceHelmetX1 (talk) 09:47, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
Yes, that was a typo. --I call the big one bitey (talk) 10:22, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- ? SpaceHelmetX1 (talk) 10:26, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- oh yes a typographical error SpaceHelmetX1 (talk) 10:33, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
Just in case you don't know, Spirit of Metal is definitely not an adequately reliable source for bands and albums with widespread press coverage like this. It might even be frowned upon as a source of basic info for obscure artists with little press coverage. The source doesn't even have an author to attribute the nu metal labelling to. Spirit of Metal was also added as a source for the Enjoy Incubus EP, and there's almost no press coverage for that release yet, so it will probably be able to stay there until more reliable sources start writing about it. --I call the big one bitey (talk) 10:47, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- I don't disagree. I stated that it is a poor quality ref. But in one of your reversals you used the term "reliable" referring to Spirit of Metal and that was confusing. The fact is: that website has often been used as a ref and could be added by another user at any time, so I just wanted to prevent. Btw, the ref used for Enjoy Incubus EP is Metal Storm, not Spirit of Metal. SpaceHelmetX1 (talk) 11:11, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- Trust me: I meant well. In fact, I want to avoid a "cancer" SpaceHelmetX1 (talk) 11:21, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
