RfA: thank you for your support edit

Yrtneg, thank you for expression of support in my recent RfA. Your support in the face of much sound and fury in the final hours meant a lot to this candidate. Warm regards, Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 15:27, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. --Yrtneg 23:56, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Page titles edit

I just found what you asked for in the IRC help channel: WP:DISPLAYTITLE. More than that doesn't seem possible. Huon (talk) 04:01, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Alright, thank you. --iTAC ཏལྐ་ ཝོརྐ་ 13:44, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your contribution to article edit

Yrtneg, thanks for taking part in the discussion of the article FocalScope Email Ticketing Solution. You agreed with me that the article should be kept. It's however still up for discussion, you might find it interesting to participate and provide a short explanation of why you also think it should be kept. It's a Singaporean product which was developed in 2005. It has since then been recognised for "changing the ways emails are being handled" and is being deployed by companies such SingTel, American Express, DHL and Radisson Hotel to deliver their customer support. Your stub edit

It looks great! In fact, you can move it to the mainspace any time. What's missing, though, as you will see from similar articles, is the authority (the person who named it). You can grab that from WoRMS. That's pretty important.

Here are some general tips:

  • Steal a taxobox from another article and swap in the right information.
  • Avoid unconventional formatting. I see some very strange code you've added, like "strong", "em", etc.
  • Disable categories while draft is still in the sandbox. Do this by adding a full colon like this: [[:Category:Lampriformes]]
  • Put a line space between sections.
  • Once in the mainspace, go to a similar article as ask yourself "What can I steal?" Then, steal it.
  • You can learn much more by inspecting other articles than by reading backpages, in my opinion.
  • Categories: Picture it like a tree root. Add the category that's as far toward the tip as possible, but not several categories along the way. You can add other categories too, if they're on other roots.

I'm very pleased. If you create lots of these stubs, it's an asset to the project. Even a couple of sentences and a photograph makes it worthwhile. It encourages others to add content. If it's nothing more than "XXXX" is a fish, well, then maybe that's best left as part of the "List of XXXX species." But to add sections on description, distribution, habitat, etc. is fantastic. You can create zillions of these, and the community will love you and shower you with barnstars, Fabergé eggs, and private jets (or at least pictures of them).

I gave it a few tweaks and pasted this: {{WikiProject Fishes|class=Stub|importance=Low|needs-photo=no}} to the talk page.

Before and After

Alright, thank you. I didn't get what "binomial name" meant at first. Also, what are backpages? iTAC ཏལྐ་ ཝོརྐ་ 01:42, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Backpages are anything other than the mainspace (the encyclopedia). In this case, I am referring to how-to pages. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:13, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dude. edit

You wrote an article. That is awesome. (No sarcasm - I mean it. It′s not something I′ve been able to pull off yet.) -— Isarra 01:13, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

You too can pull it off. Pick one: Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images Go to the "similar article", click edit, and steal the whole thing. Then just swap in your info. Easy peasy. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:30, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
One day, perhaps. One day. For now I have no info. -— Isarra 04:35, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, What is that weird apostrophe thing you're using? --iTAC ཏལྐ་ ཝོརྐ་ 01:37, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
The closest thing to a normal apostrophe there was in the charinsert edittools. I'd say it really needs a normal one, but apparently I'm the only person around who can't type the thing directly at times... -— Isarra 04:35, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
