Updating statistics

Hi INeedSupport:

I noticed that you changed information on the Houston article. Estimates for Harvey damage are changing, and you changed the figure from $75 million to $125 million. Statistics and estimates change over time, and it's good there are editors who are keeping articles updated. However, when you a change, please provide a reliable source WP:SOURCES in the form of an inline citation because it's important to be able to verify the information WP:VERIFY. When you change information without providing a new citation, other readers will assume your new information is verified by the older source. I found an online article supporting $125 million, so I was able to supply a citation this time.

If you have a question about how to create inline citations, there are many editors who are more experienced than I am, but I would be happy to help you the best I can. You can contact me at my talk page. Cheers, Oldsanfelipe (talk) 20:01, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Apologies for not including a source for my changes. I will learn from this mistake. Thanks for including a site for my edit. INeedSupport (talk) 20:17, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Can you help re: fragmented sentence?

Hi INeedSupport,

You reverted a recent edit of mine because of a fragmented sentence. I'd like to fix it, but I went over my edit and couldn't find the fragment. Can you help me by pointing it out? --Jhilgard (talk) 19:49, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

@Jhilgard: Hi there! I'm glad you are willing to contribute positively to Wikipedia. After further review of my revert, I realized that there was no fragmented sentence. I think your edit is an improvement to the article. I have since added back your edit. Perhaps I read your edit wrong and thought you fragmented a sentence. Apologizes about that. INeedSupport (talk) 01:38, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate that! --Jhilgard (talk) 03:50, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

User talk page messages

Hi INeedSupport! Happy Friday! I ran into the history of this IP's user talk page just now and saw that the user removed a message and that you reverted that removal. I just wanted to message you and let you know that users (including anonymous users) are allowed to remove messages and warnings from their own user talk pages like this. The exception to this includes declined unblock requests and only while their block is currently active, shared IP templates, and some MFD and CSD notifications (See this page here for the full list of exceptions). I just wanted to let you know this in case you didn't know; I just don't want to see you get into trouble or hot water over reverting things that can be removed and thinking that they can't ;-). Anyways, I hope you have a great Friday and weekend, and feel free to message me on my user talk page any time if you have questions or need anything. Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:49, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

  • @Oshwah: Apologizes about that. I will not do that again. Thanks for letting me know! INeedSupport (talk) 22:52, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
No apologies are necessary; I was just leaving you a message to give you a friendly poke and let you know about this in case you didn't know. Based on your reply above, it appears that you didn't. It's no big deal; in fact, this is how I learned about it... lol. I reverted an IP for blanking their own talk page and someone messaged me to let me know... meh, oh well. Life moves on ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:03, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

People have the right to delete comments from their own talkpage, so I will have to ask that you do not reinstate unwanted content on another user's talkpage. Thank you. CLCStudent (talk) 01:29, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

@CLCStudent: Apologizes for that. I saw several other editors doing that and I thought I could do the same thing. I won't do it again. INeedSupport (talk) 01:30, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi INeedSupport. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2018-06-15. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~ Amory (utc) 10:57, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

@Amorymeltzer: Thanks for granting me the rights. I appreciate it! INeedSupport (talk) 13:46, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

Spenkelink Execution in Florida

John Spenkelink, who was executed for murder in Florida's electric chair on May 25, 1979, or 39 years ago day, was the first person to be executed in Florida since 1964, and it opened the "modern era" in capital punishment in Florida. Why do you do not think this is a significant event?John Paul Parks (talk) 16:19, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

@John Paul Parks: I was meant to revert the edit made by the IP. I reviewed the article before you made your edit. When I executed the revert, it reverted all edits that is under review, which includes your edit. It has since been restored. INeedSupport (talk) 16:22, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

May 2018

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Talk:Subtropical Storm Alberto, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. B dash (talk) 04:00, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

@B dash: I didn’t realized that I forgot to sign it. Oops. I already know how to sign talk pages though. INeedSupport (talk) 12:19, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

'Breakdancing'

I don't know what you are doing reverting my changes to this page. I have been breaking for over 6 years and I am aware of the correct usage of the terms. What breaking knowledge do you have? I replaced the erroneous titles with the original, proper terms. The article even has a bloody section referring to the terminology! It's then hypocritical to continue to use the FALSE terminology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.205.0.144 (talk) 16:56, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

French user

Hi! Regarding the CanardPC article, here's a source for the French slang ref. I don't know very well how to edit, would you mind doing it? Thanks. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/canard#Noun_2 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.51.155.97 (talk) 13:22, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

@5.51.155.97: Hello, I can help you with your edit. The only problem is that Wikitionary is not a reliable source (WP:WPNOTRS). I’ll find another source that has the slang. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 17:16, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
Update: Canard actually means rumors that are unsupported by fact. The website I found also states that "canard" means a hoax. I could not find anything that supports the definition that the word means newspaper. With this in mind, I'm not sure it actually fit into Canard PC, in fact it sound defamatory. You can find the website here. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 20:33, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

You can find more information at WP:CRYSTALBALL. The sources you provided seems to be biased, so along with the crystal ball, I removed it. I'll have a look at the article to see if I can improve it. Edits to Hossein Zenderoudi

Hello INeedSupport, I noticed you made edits to the article Hossein Zenderoudi after edit warring had occurring - which has resulted in the deletion of a citation and NPOV issues for this article. I don't have the ability to roll these edits back. Could you please help? This issue was part of Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. Jooojay (talk) 21:53, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

I see you recently accepted a pending change to July 5.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. I've gone ahead and un-accepted this edit and backed it out. If it was a single addition, I would have tried to track a source down, but this edit added several.

Please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 02:00, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

1991 riot in Zadar

The claims I reverted first time were clearly unsourced, nationalitst propaganda. Senteneces which contain "deeply unhappy" are unencyclopedic and are often use to emphasize something that is absolutely no true. However, I will try to provide sources for my revisions, but that will be hard because there is very little reliable information about that event which is over-exaggerated and parts possibly completely made up. Thank you. --95.168.124.162 (talk) 21:26, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

The whole article actually is a translation of only one source from Serbian newspapers Novosti which are not reliable beacuse they are newspapers and are Serbian. Other sources used in the arcticle are also Serbian or have no mention of disputable parts of article. There are only two Croatian sources also from newspapers, because the event is obviously exaggerated. Serbian Wikipedia which is full of these types of articles with nationalist and irredentist claims and the article is written and mostly edited by Serbians. The compromise would be to completely delete the whole article or at least the disputable, unsouced parts. Thank you. --95.168.124.162 (talk) 21:41, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
I copyed the messages here in case you did not read them. Thank you.--95.168.124.162 (talk) 21:43, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
Here are the Croatian sources:
KRISTALNA NOĆ Na dan ubojstva Franka Lisice Bibinjci prestrašili Srbe i JNA u Zadru!
Obranili Zadar, zaleđe i najvažniju hrvatsku žilu kucavicu
Thank you! --95.168.124.162 (talk) 21:46, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
@95.168.124.162:Thanks for telling me that and for sending me be links. I will insert them in the article soon. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 21:49, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
I would be very cautious what edits you make in this case. This article is about an event that happened during the Croatian War of Independence, where conflict between Croatians and Serbians was fuelled by ethnic hatred and propaganda on both sides. You might also want to take a look at the Croatian Wikipedia controversy, which was about the Croatian Wikipedia having been dominated by far-right groups engaging in historical revisionism and anti-Serbian bias. This looks like the same kind of thing. Marianna251TALK 02:11, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
@Marianna251: I was wondering if there was something suspicious going on. That controversy sums it all up. I’ve left the article to the revision without the IP edits for now. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 02:54, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
I looked again at the references and they are either Serbian or have absolutely no mention of the event. Propaganda on Croatian side was minimal, as Serbs attacked independent Croatia which by the 1974 Yugoslav Constitution had full rights to seperate and become independent. Statements that Serbs were "deeply unhappy" and that the use of Croatian checkerboard (which was used at least 500 years before WWII) and kuna currency reminded them of Ustasha regime is often used in order to hide intention of creating Greater Serbia and to justify genocide on Croatian territory. If you look closely at Serbian sources, they say that during Ustaha regime more than 1.700.000 Serbs were killed, the actual number is less than 300.000. In Yugoslavia for 70 years everything was centralised in Serbia, administration, military, so the historical facts have been reverted. I know this debated between Serbs and Croats look silly from perspective of other people, and as a Croat I can tell you that Serbs are incredibly good at persuasion in their lies. There are cases in their newspapers articles in which they name "famous German psychologist" which does not exist, and of course, he says some nasty things about Croats. If you are intereted I will list you newspaper articles, Serbian Wikipedia articles, videos, "scientific papers" in which Serbs literally say they are "the choosen people", "they visited Mars", that they are "direct ancestors from Noah", that "Jesus spoke Serbian" and "Alexander the Great was Serbian". These things are promoted in Serbia on daily basis. Thank you.--95.168.124.162 (talk) 23:35, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
References used in Croatian Wikipedia controversy are also from non-reliable news portals. Tportal is well-known to be pro-Serbian. The whole section of an article is about just one event on Croatian Wikipedia which is clear exaggeration, and it is written either by Serb (which can be seen from first name and surname) or communists which often have anti-national claims. If you could read Croatian, you could even see that from the sources used there are no real mention of anti-Sebian sentiment. Someone wrote that NFH was not totalitarian awhich was instantly removed and arzicles is written that Croatian Wikipedia is written by fascists. On the other hand there are hundreds of articles on Serbian Wikipedia which vlaim that official language in Dubrovnik was Serbian, that Croatian languge is nothing but Serbian language (although first Croatian dictionary is printed in 1527 and first Serbian in 1818 and was largely a plagiarism). Angain, if you want, I will list you some honorable mentions. Thank you. --95.168.124.162 (talk) 00:01, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
I am not here to promote hate nor Croatian nationalism, but you have to be carefull with unreliable sources, especially Serbian. They always play victims even though they were the agressors. I hope you will take some time to read about both Croatian and Serbian history and check the sources and references. The most important thing is the truth and not choosing the sides on Wikipedia. Thank you. --95.168.124.162 (talk) 00:08, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
@95.168.124.162: I'll have a look at those references on both articles. However, I do have a question for you though: why did you copy and pasted the article multiple times on the riot article instead of calling for article for deletion? INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 13:04, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Excellent question. The truth is I did not thought of that. Proposing article for deletion would be the cleverest and most proper action. I copied the article as it was from my last history of edits and then copied it again so I would not have to use undo which always results in edit war. I did accidentally paste it multiple times because I had some problems with mobile editing and I did not use my laptop. The article is full of false claims and it abounds in propaganda. However I will not call it for deletion because it would take too many explanations and I do not have time nor will to argue with stubborn, low-educated, and irredentist Wikipedia administrators in order to delete just one of many similar articles. Still, if you want to propose article for deletion, I will join in discussion if needed. Thank you. --95.168.124.162 (talk) 15:58, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
I just checked discussion on second deletion proposal and absolutely every keep and strong keep was written by Serbian which can be seen from usernames and nationalistic claims. Serbs are the most likely to patrol articles in which they victimize themselves, accuse others of their problems, and on articles that spread their nationalistic beliefs. Other nationalities are not interested in these types of articles nor discussions, and it is more likely they are going to protect the article rather than study more on the subject and see that the article is clear propaganda. Voters must be non-Croats and non-Serbs, because of the majority of Serbs on English Wikipedia the article was not deleted in the first place. Thank you. --95.168.124.162 (talk) 16:26, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
@95.168.124.162: I cannot confirm that those are Serbians or Croatians, considering I am neither one of them in term of nationality. I've checked the source and I did noticed a little bit of propaganda on both Croatians and Serbian links. I've left a template that shows that the article does not have reliable sources. MOS

You undid my edit.[1] You quoted MOS:BOLD, which says that the article's title should appear in bold face in the first sentence. All well and good, but what exactly do you think the title of the article is? 46.208.152.2 (talk) 19:22, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

@46.208.152.2: Hi there! I know the title is called "The X Factor (UK series 2). Perhaps we should add the "UK series 2" to the beginning of the sentence. However, it still have to be bold due to MOS:BOLD, more specifically MOS:BOLDTITLE. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 19:27, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
@46.208.152.2: Actually, looking at the next sentence, it already describes that it's the second series. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 19:28, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Evidently, you have overlooked MOS:TITLEABSENTBOLD - if the article's title is absent from the first sentence, do not apply the bold style to related text that does appear. 46.208.152.2 (talk) 19:34, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Titanic II

Thank you for your recent update to Titanic II. At Wikipedia we are required to provide reliable secondary sources to support any changes to an article. In the case of Titanic II, there has been recent coverage of the project being revived but we have no evidence that actual construction has begun. Nor is there yet any evidence that a building contract has been signed with any shipyard. Such an event would have had considerable publicity. It might help to read the comments of other editors at Talk:Titanic_II. Blue Riband► 08:22, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Anastasia Baranova interview

Hi, so you undid my edit.[2]. While I am aware of the policy regarding living people bio, I did add reference to a interview given by Anastasia Baranova, and I pointed the moment where she explain that the character she play is bisexual and that she is bisexual too. So is the issue that the podcast is not reliable (despites Anastasia giving several interview, and the podcast being well established) ? should I be more precise in the time (since she say that 33 second after the time I gave) ? The addition of the section was made to add a source to support the existing category tag about "Bisexual actress", which was unsourced. However, as I didn't found a reliable written source on the web, so I am not sure what is the way forward if the most reliable source is a radio emission/podcast, and it seems not covered by the doc I found. Misc (talk) 01:42, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

@Misc: Hi there! Unfortunately, there isn't enough reliable information to show that Baranova is bisexual. The podcast did not meet WP:BLPSPS standards (self-published source). There was a twitter feed on Baranova's profile that states that she's bisexual, but that appears to have been deleted. I found it here. Thus, we cannot mention that Baranova with those reasons. I recommend heading to the talk page of the article to see if anybody have any reliable source so they can mention that. I'll keep the tag because it would appear that her bisexuality was well-known. @INeedSupport: Hi, so, before I make something stupid, is it ok for me to list the various links I found on the talk page ? I do not want to start doxing/stalking someone, but I also wonder how I can discuss if a source is suitable without giving a link. Misc (talk) 23:33, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
@Misc: Sure, you can do that! INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 00:46, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Oregon Trail

That one tough one to figure out. I couldn't load the diff, undo from the history page wasn't working, and Twinkle kept throwing errors. I've requested that the edit be deleted from the history, so it doesn't give anyone else any problems. Sario528 (talk) 18:17, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

@Sario528: I had the same problem too. Rollback didn't work, Twinkle didn't work, and undo didn't work as well. Well at least you figured it out. Thanks for reverting that vandalism edit! INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 18:32, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
