Hi IND, Welcome to Wikipedia. Are you interested in chest trauma? I wanted to let you know why I undid your edit to Tension pneumothorax: links to commercial sites are discouraged, advertising is not allowed on Wikipedia. I thought that highlighting just one product might not be appropriate because it's giving too much attention to it. Also, the names of the particular products might be too detailed for a general encyclopedia article. Anyway, thanks much for editing and contributing to the project, I certainly don't mean to stop you from participating. Don't hesitate to leave me a message on my talk page if you have any questions or need anything, I'm always glad to help. Peace, delldot talk 02:59, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Commerical edits edit

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Tourniquet, you will be blocked from editing. Wikipedia is not the place to advertise your products. Thank you OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 06:57, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:CAT .jpeg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:CAT .jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 22:10, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re:Message left for my bot edit

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Where you trying to contact me, or was it over something the bot did? Could you be a little more specific? J Milburn (talk) 22:04, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tourniquet edit

Delldot asked me to explain the issues I had with your edits at tourniquet. First of all, the top image had no source or copyright information, so I was concerned that it may be non-free (see our policy on non-free content) so I was concerned that it was inappropriate. Secondly, you were formatting the image rather badly- instead, you should use images as explained here, rather than throwing it at the top of the article like that. Another issue is the text- I do appreciate you are citing sources (which is definitely appreciated- so many new users don't bother) but you're citing a lot of contentious information to a single source, and that source doesn't even mention most of it. To quote the relevant part of the source-

As a last resort, a tourniquet can be applied to stop bleeding. There is a risk of sacrificing a limb to save a life. A tourniquet is a wide band of cloth or other material tightly placed just above the wound to stop all flow of blood. A tourniquet crushes the tissue and can cause permanent damage to nerves and blood vessels. Once in place, a tourniquet must be left there until a physician removes it. The victim must be taken to medical help as soon as possible.

Now, this is great information for the article, but does not agree with what you are using it to support. That source definitely does say that using a tourniquet could lead to limb loss, so in saying that it is a 'misconception', you are working against our policy on using a neutral point of view (both sides of the argument should be presented) on reliable sources (you're not citing anything) and on original research (you're using your own knowledge, experience or opinion to refute a reliable source). I am now going to work the source into the article, but use it to cite what it does actually say. If you have any further questions about my issues with your edits, or editing in general, feel free to contact me on my talk page. J Milburn (talk) 12:11, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I've just realised that you weren't citing any sources. If you wish to refute the claims that are made about tourniquets in the reliable sources already cited in the article, you will have to provide reliable sources that agree with your own view. J Milburn (talk) 12:14, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Completely agree with J MIlburn - although you have cited one source, which I have now worked in the article. OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 12:24, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 17:01, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tourniquet Reference (Mabry) edit

It's great that you're getting some references for the article, and i've made that reference to Mabry and McManus in to the proper format. Just so you know, you don't insert references at the end by the reference list, but in the text, immediately after the thing you want to reference. For that reason i've inserted wiki markup around the reference so it can't be seen in the article at the moment. If you tell me what you'd like it to relate to i can put it back, or if you want to do it yourself, just go to 'edit page' and remove the <!-- --> from either side of the refence before placing it where you want. Hope that helps. OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 19:12, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
