Ooh, a shiny, empty page... (see /Archive 1 for 5 years of chit-chat and internal spam)

Sovereign Radio edit

The info (as indeed did all the dates, frequencies and broadcast areas for all the stations I added) came from the Commercial Radio Pocket Book published by www.crca.co.uk (now radiocentre.org). Note that the date is the date that the original station that covers the license first started, and in some cases the station has been renamed since (eg CN-FM started in Cambridge in 1989 and became Q103 in the 90s, but the date is still 1989). See eg 2005 version. Hope that helps. Smb1001 (talk) 18:21, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mistaken reversion on Eastbourne edit

Thanks for that, obviously unintended and a case of jumping on a sneaky hijack attempt a bit too quickly, thanks for sorting it out. Winchelsea (talk) 16:28, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Main Page redesign edit

The Main Page Redesign proposal is currently conducting a straw poll to select five new designs, before an RFC in which one will be proposed to replace the Main Page. The poll closes on October 31st. Your input would be hugely appreciated! Many thanks, PretzelsTalk! 10:20, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merry edit

Merry Christmas! edit

Thank you edit

Thank you for clarifying that SQL for me. I use Oracle at work, and (regardless of the SQL standard) have never seen the SUBSTRING( ... FROM ... FOR ...) syntax. FWIW, Oracle uses SUBSTR(str, pos [, len [, occurrence]]) and INSTR(str, substr [, pos [, occurrence]). An equivalent statement in Oracle's SQL would be:

Oracle version
  SUBSTR
  (
    pages.cur_text,
    INSTR
    (
      pages.cur_text,
      '{{Persondata'
    ),
    INSTR
    (
      pages.cur_text,
     '}}',
      INSTR
      (
        pages.cur_text,
        '{{Persondata'
      )
    )
  ) PersonData

(For some strange reason, Oracle doesn't like the "AS" keyword.)

Articles for deletion nomination of RAS syndrome edit

I have nominated RAS syndrome, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/RAS syndrome (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Twin towns or Sister cities? edit

Hi IMSoP, I though I'd let you know that there is a new discussion open on proposed name modification (Twin towns, Sister cities or both?) on this talk page. Your comments would be very much appreciated -- Marek.69 talk 01:49, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tironian notes edit

I replied to your comment on tironian notes, explaining that the problem is drawing the marks digitally. Truth be told, the thing is the topic is both esoteric and useless to the 21st century bar to a few experts. Most of the readers, myself included, are from the sciences who are fascinated by the topic, say to avoid using lengthy words in maths (for which there is quite a long tradition being lunatic in personal calculations, eg. using Kanji) or to use a symbol for "sounds like" (velut) instead of drawing an ear in pictionary. So if there are any specific word requests examples just ask (pref words translatable into Latin). --Squidonius (talk) 23:56, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

transition problem edit

Hi IMSoP! Just read your todo-list, where you write about a time-out. I'was trying to build my single signon but it is not finished yet as my username has been used only once in spanish and russian WP (as it seems, two-four years ago). Can you help solving this? Without a global account I cannot contribute with translations.

Thanks a lot! --Mideal (talk) 10:11, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

h2g2 edit

Hi there, sorry to bother you, however. . .
Well I managed to get them to reduce the h2g2 page to a skeleton from what it once was. In an attempt to rewrite it I got 2nd degree warned for writing there is a Society. Perhaps you have any known 'third party reference' from a 'reliable source' to get some of the content restored <sadface>. <TiT>
