I think that we should hold off a little while longer. I think that lists like the New York and Houston lists will simply not pass with so many redlinks; I have so far received two comments (not opposes, though) in the Detroit list's second nom about two redlinks (the only ones in the entire article) in the timeline section. I think we should hold off on all lists until there are only about 5 to 10% redlinks in all entries, and I am still concerned about the completeness of the Dubai list. Specifically, which ones were you thinking? Hong Kong, Dubai, Seattle, Las Vegas ... ?
Also, one a side note, you may have noticed that the Polish Wiki's version of the New York building list goes all the way down to 150 m. Are you still against expansion? I remain undecided. Cheers, Rai-me 03:35, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you as well! Unfortunately, I think I will be fairly busy up until about December 20, so you may have to go on overtime for a few days without me. But it sounds like a great idea; Detroit has been the first building list to have been nominated and promoted at FLC in awhile, but there a definitely several that are very close. I was hoping to do some minor work on the Dubai list over the next few days and nominate that list first. Then we can definitely get to Hong Kong and New York City. Oh, and I now completely agee about your anti-expansion stance for the New York list; it would be too long to manage. Do you think we should put a higher limit the Dubai list as well, as that list appears to be getting overly long as well? Cheers, Rai-me 20:40, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think we should leave New York at 600 ft, only because all other American lists are measured by a set count in feet, not meters. But 180 m sounds good for Dubai; I have already consulted Leitmanp about it. I am really not sure about the building inclusion issue for Dubai; in the past, as you know, adding the asterisk and stating "information regarding height... has not yet been released". Do you think that would not be a wise idea for this list? Cheers, Rai-me 21:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Glad to hear that you are finished with your exams. Very little occurred while you were gone; as you already know, the Detroit list passed and the Dubai list is now at FLC, but that is about it. Other than that, I also nominated the Miami and San Francisco building lists at WP:LOTD.
- I unfortunately will be pretty busy for most of next week, so you will have to go into "overdrive" without me until the 20th or the 21st. But what lists do you think we should work on next? The Hong Kong, New York City, Houston, Seattle, and Las Vegas lists all seem to be almost ready for nomination at FLC. Comments? I will be free for the next two days only, so perhaps we can work now and try and get one list nominated.
- Oh, and thank you for removing the image on the Providence list; I guess I just completely forgot to remnove the image and update the lead after the project was canceled.
- One last thing - I think we should remove the Sunny Isles Beach list from the FTD, and add Cleveland as the 20th-largest skyline. What do you think? Cheers, Rai-me 01:28, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

What comment did I remove from the talk page? What talk page? I'm sure it was a mistake with me copying and pasting...I had to copy and paste the whole article to get it right because of an edit conflict that had nothing to do with you...DON'T REVERT...THEN YOU WILL BE JUST REMOVING MY CONTRIBUTION TO THE TALK PAGE!!! Please just add your contribution again. I will not be contributing to the talk page any-longer unless someone removes one of my previous posts Kind of rude of you to tell me I made a mistake and not tell me what it was. Thanks
Thanks for rating the Sonoma County articles for SFBAProject. The rating system intimidates me, and besides, as a resident of the county I'm not sure I can serve as an impartial judge of their importance. So I'm very grateful to you for taking care of this. Image galleries
HI, thank you for your suggestion. I have done what you requested me to do. If you see any article that I missed, or that you feel needs to be cut down more (there may be one or two), please let me know. I knew they were getting too long, but I just did not want to take any images out. Thank you for noticing the obvious and telling me something that I did not want to tell myself. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 06:07, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I removed some of the images from Rose Tower. Now there are a total of 5 (4 in the gallery and 1 in the infobox). Are there still too many? Should I put the last image in the gallery into the infobox? Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 19:35, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Dromore Castle
Hello, I noticed that you rated the article Dromore Castle as Start class, which I think is quite reasonable - however, as the original creator of this article, I'd been keen to improve it, and so I was wondering what kind of thing you'd be looking for in order to see it rise higher than that? Thanks for updating me about the AfDs. And great job on the recent work you have performed on the Chicago buildings page! Is this the next list you think the WP:SKY FTD should focus on? Also, what is your position on the street addresses in the main table? Cheers, Rai-me 00:25, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- Do mind if I perform edits on the page as well (adding buildings, removing addresses)? I see you have the in use tag up, but since both of our edits would be broken up into "small" edits, edit conflicts would likely be minimal. As we both now have free time, it would great to get this list to FLC as soon as possible. Cheers, Rai-me 01:26, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I will work on adding buildings between 500 and 560 ft to the list, and will work on the lead after that. Do you think we should remove or keep the "tallest in suburbs" section? Cheers, Rai-me 01:35, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- That seems very reasonable, seeing as the only work that needs to be done on all three lists is article creation and lead touch-up. We should try to nomnate each list at different times, however, as FLC frowns upon multiple lists of related topics being nominated at once. Cheers, Rai-me 19:52, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am having trouble finding height references for two entries in the "Timeline" section: Saint Michael's Church and the Montgomery Ward Building. SkyscraperPage and Emporis both do not have entries for either buildings (typing in Montgomery Ward Building actually redirects to a page about a Chicago building built in 1926). What do you think we should do? Rai-me 20:13, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, see this. However, the church does have an Emporis entry ([1]), I am not sure how I missed it. Cheers, Rai-me 20:20, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Re:Hey again
I am sorry to respond so late. I may be able to get a picture of the power line in Ayer as I am going to Boston in a few weeks. Electrical infrastructure isn't really one of my interests, but I am glad to assist in your FA quest. I live several hours away from Upstate New York and Montreal, and truthfully I have only been to each of those places twice before, so I doubt that I will be able to go get pictures of those power lines. And unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the ice storm; it didn't strike Massachusetts or Rhode Island. Sorry that I cannot be of more assistance.
My sentiments exactly for WP:DUBAI. I think a COTM is definitely in order. Thanks for creating the project banner as well, but I have one question: do you think this image or this image is more appropriate to use? Leitmanp is not in favor of using the former.
As for the building lists, there are still a few more U.S. cities which I think should have them (i.e. some of the ones on the Polish Wikipedia). But I think right now I am going to focus on article creation for the FTD over the creation of new lists, then maybe try to improve the British building lists. Do you think we should bring the London list to current WP:SKY building list standards. Right now, I'd say it is pretty far below them, and could use some improvement (particularly with references, table format and the lead), I've debated changing it or bringing it up on the talk page for awhile, as there are probably many primary editors who prefer to keep it the way it is. Cheers, Rai-me 20:17, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I just recently got back from Boston, but unfortunately was not able to travel to Ayer and get any pictures. I am very sorry: I was only there for 3 days, and only left Boston once to go to Cambridge. However, I do live relatively close, so I may be able to get some pictures in April when I go back. Again, I am very sorry; I was originally planning to spend the entire week there, but my trip was shortened to 3 days. But, I looked over your Quebec article this morning after it was nominated at FLC, and it looks great. You should consider bringing it to FAC very soon. Cheers, Rai-me 18:44, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Dubai buildings - too many articles?
I didn't realize exactly how many of the buildings created for the FL pass of List of tallest buildings in Dubai were in the same complexes. We really don't need to have separate articles for buildings in the same complex; would you be in support of merging them? Another editor has expressed concern here about the "messy" status of the Dubai buildings category and the articles in general, and I have to say I agree. There is no need to have several stubs when they can all be covered by one large, well-referenced article. Example - Jumeirah Lake Towers can cover every building in the large complex, instead of having separate pages for Jumeirah Lake Apartments, Jumeirah Lake Offices, Anantara Hotel, etc. Comments? Cheers, Rai-me 05:03, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Coordinates
Yes, that seems like a great idea. What tool do use to find them? And you probably already know, but List of tallest buildings in San Francisco is going to be the "List of the Day" twice in February, per this (it scored in the top 6 for the month). Cheers, Rai-me 05:09, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Al Burj
H.I., I was unsure whether to change its status also. There are rumors that the location of the tower was moved from Dubai Waterfront to a location near Dubai Marina. This new site has not officially been announced by the developer (Nakheel). Piling has begun at this new site, but since Nakheel has not announced anything, I do not think we can change the status to under construction. According to this story, Nakheel said "work had been done on site and an official launch was planned in March." In addition to the change in location, many people believe that the height and design have changed. We should probably wait until Nakheel makes its official statement in March, or until Emporis changes the status, before we do anything. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:13, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I concur; with a project as large as Al Burj that will become the WTB upon completion, there should be adequate coverage of its construction. However, since Emporis has not even changed its status to approved, let alone under construction, I say we should hold off a little longer. Per above, the fact that the developer hasn't even released definite information about its construction yet is a further reason to wait. Cheers, Rai-me 02:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Skyscraper classification
I think we should count each tower as a seperate building/skyscraper. I believe that just because several towers share a podium, that does not mean they are one building (so, Sorrento would be five skyscrapers and not just one). But, this depends on the height of the podium and its relation to the size of the buildings on top of it. And yes, there are several complexes in Dubai where buildings share the same podium. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 05:59, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree; I think that we should count skyscrapers in a city as separate structures, even if they stand on one podium. This seems to be a pretty widely accepted standard, and not used only by Emporis; almost every source I read states that Hong Kong has more skyscrapers than New York City. Cheers, Rai-me 13:00, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Re:Sortable lists
Is it possible to make the lists sortable and preserve the blue-color formatting? I think that making the lists sortable at the expense of the coloring (which would probably be my personal preference) would not be a good idea, as it would be going against consensus on the Manchester list FLC to keep the coloring despite the list not being sortable. And no, I don't think a use column should be added; I was actually thinking of removing it from the London list until the Manchester FLC had no negative comments relating to it. Such a section does not seem relevant when a "Notes" column is present, and adding another column to the U.S. lists will crunch the existing ones too much. If the use is really relevant to building height (i.e., "tallest all-residential building"), which is rarely the case, than it should be added in the Notes section. Featured storyThis featured story focuses on the relative WikiWork for this project. The relative WikiWork is the measure of how lose a project is to having every article featured. It is a complex calculation; ω = a + 2g + 3b + 4s + 5t where a is A-class articles, g is GA-class articles, b is B-class articles, s is start-class articles, and t is stub-class articles. Thus, the closer you are to 0 (zero), the closer you are to having every article featured. The WikiWork number for every class is added, then divided by the number of articles, similar to averaging, and it is found that the relative WikiWork for this project is Ω = 4.182. Ω is a symbol for the relative WikiWork factor. That is not the best number, as we are closer to 5 than we are to 0, and we are very close to 5. This means that the majority of the articles in the project are either stub, or start. That is what we need to change. So, while more severe weather articles are good, we should try not to publish as many stub class, and fewer start class articles. User:CrazyC83 made numerous edits, more than one hundred, to 2008 Super Tuesday tornado outbreak. Significant stormsSignificant storms last month included the outbreak in the United States in early to mid-January that produced 71 tornadoes and killed three people. Several tornado emergencies were issued in association with supercells during this outbreak. This outbreak was very similar to a classic spring severe weather outbreak, but extending farther north than even most late season outbreaks. The hardest hit areas on January 7 were the Springfield, Missouri metropolitan area and areas immediately to the north of Chicago, three people were killed near Springfield throughout the Southwestern Missouri Ozarks. On January 8, my area, the Tri-State region of Evansville, Indiana, was hit with the tornado outbreak. Only a few funnel clouds were reported in my area. Most tornadoes of the day were confined to the Memphis, Tennessee area and Eastern Arkansas, where one person was killed. On January 9 only a few wind and hail reports were received[1]. On January 10, however, the action started back up. More tornadic storms developed across the Southern United States, including several significant storms that produced tornadoes. These tornadoes severely damaged rual towns in Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. The most notable of these tornadoes was reported in Lamar County, Alabama where 1 person was injured as several buildings were destroyed in this EF-3 tornado. Five more deaths (three by tornadoes and two by straight-line winds) were reported on January 29 from a series of scattered tornadoes and a serial derecho across the Ohio Valley stretching south into Arkansas.[2] References

Help with User:Raime/Skyline rankings
You can see that User:The Rambling Man has brought up a pretty good point at the Portland FLC - the lists of 10+ cities are getting too long, and the barrage of links in the Notes section to SkyscraperPage diagrams that are often dead is also not a good solution. The Rambling Man has suggested turning User:Raime/Skyline rankings, which was really only created to be used as a reference for the FTD, into a mainspace list that can be referenced from all U.S. tallest building lists. I for one think that this is a good idea, but do not know how to improve the skyline rankings page - it is outdated and in need of a lot of work before we even considering moving it to the mainspace. Any ideas? I think we'd have to merge the "Other cities" section into the larger table, which could be a tedious task. Any comments or ideas? Cheers, Rai-me 16:14, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- How do we rank on aesthetics? Other than that, I agree with everything you mentioned. We could list several different methods of skyline ranking, though I think we should focus only on height and breadth, as they are not POV, but for the most part calculations. Aesthetics, on the other hand, seems very POV-based. Do you think that we should focus on just U.S. lists, at least for now? If this page turns out to be a "success", then we could do the same for Canada, China, the UK, etc.
- I would agree that floor counts is not a great method. I think that we should include rankings based on 1) # buildings over 500 ft (what we have been doing in each list until now), 2) # of high-rises (from Emporis), and 3) # buildings over 200 ft (to be more precise, but still focus on height). Any more ideas or changes to mine?
- I agree about the SkyscraperPage city listings - you may have noticed that I changed the links on the Portland page from the diagrams to the city links. I think that a picture column would greatly add to the skyline ranking page (perhaps we should remove the "City tallest building list" column?). As for referrals to other sites, we could have a short paragraph just on "skyline ranking" and how common it is - this would prevent claims of OR. Cheers, Rai-me 19:12, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- But wouldn't that be very POV-based? -- Rai-me 19:22, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- But wouldn't making a global list pretty much limit the list's usability as a central page that can be linked to from all U.S. building list pages, to compare U.S. skylines? We would have to include skylines as small as Tulsa, Oklahoma (64 high-rises according to Emporis) in order for the list to be useful for the purposes of the FTD. Perhaps we could do a separate list for the U.S. (and possibly China and the UAE, which have comparably large amounts of buildings), and then do a world list with a much more limited scope?
- I am frankly surprised that there is still a debate going on between NYC and Hong Kong; Hong Kong seems to win by all accounts. I saw a debate once where people were arguing whether Chicago or HK had the better skyline, as Chicago was seen as having much better aesthetics (with Lake Michigan). Anyway, with HK and NYC, I would be surprised if there was a 2000 high-rise difference between the two cities (there may very well be, it just seems like a very large number), but I think it is pretty clear that HK has a larger/better skyline. Rai-me 00:38, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
HQ Power system
I will gladly do a review - I have already started it. I have just barely begun to look thoroughly at each section, but here are a few of my initial points:
- Which is proper: Quebec or Québec? "Québec" is used throughout the majority of the article, but "Quebec" is also used at points - I would think that this should be standardized. While it is obvious that "Hydro-Québec" should remain unchanged, is there a policy about using "é" or "e" in other circumstances? The WP article is Quebec, for example.
- Is repeating C$ each time necessary? I think there is a policy stating that it only has to be stated once, and that simply using "$" throughout the rest of the article is acceptable.
- You may want to consider expanding the lead - usually such long articles have 3 paragraphs, but for an article of this length, even 4 would be accepted.
- Is using ";" to create headers common? I have never seen this used in mainspace articles. Did you do this to prevent the TOC from becoming excessively long?
- Some sections could and should probably be broken up into more paragraphs; it seems that the majority of sections consist of one, large paragraph.
- I am not sure what the policy for "too much referencing" is, but I know that at WP:GA this article was criticized for that issue. I think that situations where 14 refs are being used to verify one sentence, such as in "Manic-Outardes power stations" of Hydro-Québec's electricity transmission system#Source of the electricity. Is there a way to move or cut out any of the refs? 2 or 3 would suffice.
I will continue to look over the article, and give a more detailed review when I am finished. Overall, great work! Cheers, Rai-me 00:38, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I have finished reading through/copyediting the article. It looks great, and is definitely close to FAC. Just a few more points:
- Use of the serial comma - some places in the article use it, while others do not. Should be consistent; it really does not matter if you use it or not, but it should be standardized in the article.
- The article should probably have a lead picture - perhaps this one? I also added a picture of the HQ headquarters in Montreal, but fell free to remove it if you do not think it appropriate. You may wish to consider adding this map of the ice storm and this map showing the location of Churchill Falls.
- Are there any "See also" links that you can add? I removed all links already present in the article per WP:ALSO, but it would be good if more than one link was given in the section.
- The two notes could probably be better laid out. The Portland list's barrage of URLs in the Notes section garnered criticism at FLC, and the "Source. Source. Source. Source." will likely do the same at FAC.
- Does text such as "795 kV" need to be separated by a non-breaking space, just as "45 metres" needs to be separated as
45 m
? I am unsure about this. - "1998 Ice Storm" (capitalized) is used throughout the article, but "1998 ice storm" seems to be more common in the sources. Does "Ice Storm" need to be capitalized?
- Overall, great work! Cheers, Rai-me 02:59, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I have finished reading through/copyediting the article. It looks great, and is definitely close to FAC. Just a few more points:
Re:Park Avenue West Tower
You could very well be correct; I just did not revert User:Tboy206's change of the building's height beacuse Emporis and SkyscraperPage, which include spires in their heights, agreed that the official height was 476 ft / 145 m. Feel free to change back the edits. Cheers, Rai-me 18:14, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Skyline rankings
Sorry that I was absent for so long, but I am finally back now. I really like what you have done with the page, but I think that the adding "points" is a little too OR-ish, and will meet some criticism if and when the page moves to the mainspace. Another thought was that we should consider separating the rankings into three separate tables, one for # over 500 ft, one for high-rises, and one for # over 250 ft (295 seems a little random, perhaps 250 or 300 ft instead?). However, I am undecided on this, as I like the way the table appears now, and 3 tables with 30+ entries may be a bit much. Cheers, Rai-me 20:23, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

It's not a redlink because it's the one that Marlith made for you some time ago. If you accept, I'll just delete it and start fresh. Please reply promptly at my talk page. bibliomaniac15 I see no changes 00:54, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
UAE Noticeboard
Hi Hydrogen Iodide, I've been feeling for some time that a noticeboard for UAE related topics would help centralize discussions and remove inconsistencies/redundancies in UAE related articles. I've been noticing the number of inconsistencies in the Abu Dhabi article and several other UAE-related articles and I think a central noticeboard along the lines of the Australia or India noticeboards would help channel content around the UAE.
A noticeboard is different from a WikiProject in that a noticeboard has no explicit mission-statement other than to provide a central forum for users interested in collaborating on UAE-related issues. I just wanted to get your thoughts on the project, as a regular contributor to UAE-related articles. With the Dubai WikiProject, there has been improvement in the quality of Dubai related articles. However, articles on the other emirates seem to be in bad shape. The noticeboard won't attempt to correct these issues, but will provide a central forum and hopefully, promote collaboration among users interested in UAE articles. It can also serve as a central point to arbitrate edit-wars or provide assistance to other editors (Arabic translations, article assessments, peer reviews, etc). One of the ideas that I had in mind for the noticeboard was to create a set of standard guidelines around structuring articles (standard structure for cities, emirates, locations etc). Your thoughts on setting up such a noticeboard are greatly appreciated. Thanks AreJay (talk) 18:48, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Happy easter!

Charlotte list
Glad to have you back! Yes, I agree about the Charlotte list; I have ben working with User:Alaskan assassin to help get the list ready for nomination. Alaskan assassin has certainly done a great job creating all of the building articles, although not all have infoboxes and some seem to bordering on copyright violations of Emporis. However, these are all easy fixes. After Charlotte, it would be nice to see NYC, Hong Kong, or Chicago get nominated, although could be a longshot, as all three lists have so many articles that could be created. The remaining lists of the FTD, such as the Denver, Houston, Seattle, and Las Vegas ones are all going to be tough, as so many articles need to be created. I started a dicsussion at Wikipedia talk:Featured list criteria#Question regarding criteria 1a1 and 1a3 relating to whether or not lists need to have articles for all entries or no entries, or else fail the criteria. There originally seemed to be support to reword the criteria, but discussion seems to have died down since without definite consensus. Even if the crierion was reworded, it would still be hard to say what defines as skyscraper as "notable"; is the 54th building in Hong Kong more notable than the 2nd tallest building in Tulsa solely because of its height, or does city rank play a large part? It would be hard to call without a defined skyscraper notability guideline. As for the user page, I still have my doubts. It looks great, but the whole topic seems too OR-ish to constitute an entire article topic. What do you think? Creating the page would certainly aid the builing list FLs, of course. I have cleaned up Carillon Tower. Can look it over? Alaskan assassin (talk) 19:14, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Doesn't want to brother you but I come across something very strange when I read this sockpuppet case. One sock named User:Hydrogen iodide, who is already blocked, has a user name that is very similar to your user name. Of course, I know you are not involved but thought that I should let you know in case someone thinks you are a sock. Chris! ct 19:31, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Chung-Ying Street
In China they drive on the right. In Hong Kong, they drive on the left. If the border runs along the middle of Chung-Ying Street, what side of the road do they drive on there? Is it a one way street?203.115.188.254 (talk) 09:18, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
