Drcheech's peer review for Hwoollen16's edits to "Bladder outlet obstruction"

edit

1. What does the article do well? I really like the proposed structure of the article edits. The structure makes sense and I think the list if pretty complete.
2. What changes would you suggest? While I agree with your focus on the most common pediatric causes of BOO, it may be pertinent to include additional causes that may be relevant to other populations (e.g. prostatic hyperplasia in older men, genitourinary malignancies causing obstruction, etc).
3. What's the most important thing the author could do to improve the article? Anything! This is a very important topic and there is nothing currently written on it! Also, given that there is a possibility that patients' parents may use this article as a quick intro to a new diagnosis for their child, it is important to present this topic in an accurate yet accessible manner.
4. Did you notice anything about the article you reviewed that could be applicable to your own article? I really like the way you divided up the treatment management in a chronological way (pre vs postnatal)... I will look to see if that works with my topic too.

Vneph's comment's on "Bladder Outlet Obstruction"

What the article did well: I really am impressed that you are improving this article, as it seems to requires a lot of work. This is a very important topic and deserves improvement. Your overview is broad gives a good idea of what the topic is about. Suggestions: Consider adding a prognosis section. It might be interesting to talk about rate to end stage renal disease for this condition. Also, I would like to recommend the following reference: Avner's Pediatric Nephrology (ISBN 9783662435953), specifically chapter 55 which references pediatric obstructive uropathy What I find applicable to my own work: I really like how you separated management between prenatal and postnatal.
