Request reason:

Having read through all the guidelines and information pages relating to the matter, I understand that my account has been blocked for numerous reasons. Firstly my username contravenes the guidelines set out as it implies it is going to be used by a group of people other than myself. I understand that this is not permitted by Wikipedia, and I can assure you this will not be the case. Secondly, I now see that the contents of the page could be seen as self-promotion. This was not the intention at all, and so I would like to thoroughly revise each section to reflect only facts to be used as a reference for anyone interested in studying any of the contemporary artists HUS Gallery currently represent. Should my account be unblocked I intend to make information regarding represented artists available as a valuable resource to anyone interested in, or studying those particular artists or associated artworks. The contemporary art world is constantly changing and evolving, and I intend to use the page to reflect the changes within our own corner of that world, such as which artists are currently represented and contribute up to date information regarding exhibitions of works, and links to artists profiles and other relevant outputs so that the information is always readily available and as neutral as possible. I do not intend the page to be used as self-promotion, just as an information page for those interested in contemporary art and the London art scene.

Here are a few key questions:

• Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory?
• Do you understand conflict of interest?
• Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable?

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Thank you for your swift response. I understand and appreciate that Wikipedia is not a business directory, and i have no intention of using it as one. I feel confident that I understand the term COI and will make sure all edits are considered very seriously in light of this. I understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and believe that the article should be amended to reflect it's notable nature. Hi Daniel, can you please let me know what is happening with my request for a name change? As you can see from my previous response I am now fully aware of the situation and can assure you the page will not be used as a promotional tool or a business directory. I for one would not currently be comfortable unblocking your account - even with a new username - if it is your intention to continue editing the Hus Gallery page directly. If you would be willing to agree to restrict yourself to proposing changes on the article's talkpage, using the {{edit request}} template, then I'd certainly consider unblocking your account to allow you to file for a change of username. Yes I would be happy to submit edits for review. At the moment the information on the page is incorrect and just needs to be updated to reflect relevant factual information, so I am willing to agree to have my edits restricted. Well, Yunshui has chosen to consult the blocking administrator, and we will see what emerges from that. However, if you can say that your editing "could be seen as self-promotion", it seems improbable that you have sufficient ability to see your own writing objectively to be able to write neutrally on the subject. Your edit was completely and blatantly promotional, with no "could be seen" about it. Also, you are damned lucky that the original version of the article wasn't speedily deleted as pure spam almost as soon as it was created. Thanks for your opinion JamesBWatson, I will certainly take your comments on board, although I do find your tone a little aggressive. It has never been my intention to offend anyone, this process has been a learning experience and I am taking on board all the advice that has been given. I am confident in my own ability to re-write the article as it should have initially been written, but am happy to be restricted and have any future edits submitted for approval. I apologise for the tone of my comments. I accept that I did not choose the best way to express myself. I know from my own experience when I first started editing Wikipedia that it can be intimidating to a newcomer, and I had no intention of contributing to that sort of experience for you. Yes, your username has been changed, as you can see at the top of this page, so you are good to go. Do read the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide; it is hard for new users, because we do not do enough to explain it, to understand just how austere is Wikipedia's attitude to promotion. What may seem to you to be "just telling the world" about your gallery or your clients is not what an encyclopedia is about - there are sites like Myspace and Facebook for that, but if Wikipedia is more useful than those sites, it is only because it has more demanding standards. Re-reading this, I am puzzled to see that although your account was renamed three days ago, your today's message today bears the old signature. I'm not sure how that could happen: next time you log in, make sure that on the Login form the name in the "Username" box is "Jackie Hus", and check that your ~~~~ signature comes out as that. This is very puzzling. Please do a final check for me: log out now and then log in again, making sure that the name in the "Username" box on the login form is "Jackie Hus". Then write a reply for me below here, confirming that you did that, and sign it with ~~~~. John's right: what happened is that you're still logged into the old "Hus Gallery" name, and the software automatically re-created a "Hus Gallery" account for you. (For the record, I *think* this is a side effect of SUL: the Hus Gallery account doesn't exist on en.wiki, because of the rename, but it wasn't renamed on all the other sites, so SUL automatically re-created it for Jackie when they tried to log in with the Hus Gallery name.) As John says, try logging out, and then be sure to log in with the name "Jackie Hus", and that should fix the problem. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 22:27, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
