Steve Jameson edit

Hello Huma Irani, can I also extend a welcome to you. I'm dropping you a note, largely in regard to the article on Steve Jameson which you have written. I'd encourage you to read the pages suggested in the welcome above but would particularly urge you to take close regard to Wikipedia:Reliable sources, especially this part. Few, if any, of the intended references you have added comply as reliable sources. In particular, you can not self-reference from Wikipedia itself. I would encourage you to remove any unreliable references from the article and either find reliable sources or remove the unsupported text.

Template messages are there to draw the attention of editors to help improve an article, so don't see them as a badge of shame. Although I'm sure that, as a new and evidently keen editor there was no bad faith intent, removal of tags by the main contributor to an article, without addressing the aspects therein may raise an eyebrow. By the same token, your talk page is your own to edit as you please but removing added advice regarding spamming may also raise an eyebrow.

You may well have no connection with Mr. Jameson, in which case ignore this part, but in case you do, these sections may be helpful to you too: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Autobiography.

All the best. Mutt Lunker (talk) 00:05, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've just realised that some of your apparent refs to Wikipedia may actually be intended as Wikilinks, in which case this will help you to format them correctly. Mutt Lunker (talk) 00:12, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mutt, thanks for your suggestions. As a new contributor, I am still learning. I will try to understand and implement your suggestions. I don't know how to reach you to thank you. Possibly you will see this note.

Huma

Yes Huma, there's a lot to take on board when you're starting off! We've all been there. If you want to get hold of an editor you can go to their talk page; for example there's a link marked "(talk)" to my talk page at the right of my signature here: Mutt Lunker (talk) 11:07, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

mutt, not sure i did it right, but i went to your talk page to thank you and the only way i knew to speak to you there was to edit the page. hope i did not mess up anyting.

Don't worry, you did it exactly correctly. I'd recently archived my talk pages, which was why the page was blank by the way. Now it looks more normal, with some talk on it! Thanks. Mutt Lunker (talk) 17:30, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh, by the way I placed the copyedit tag largely in regard to matters you'll find in the Manual of Style for Wikipedia, rather than as a comment on your spelling or suchlike. Mutt Lunker (talk) 17:35, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
