August 2020 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. I warned you on 29 July 2020 not to steal content from other sources, yet shortly thereafter in this edit it appears you added content lifted from here. That is a copyright violation.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:47, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hello User:Cyphoidbomb! This not fair to block a new user for such a small thing. I'm a new and inexperienced user. I only added officiall plot summary from official site of Sonny Sab. Wikipedia allowed copyrighted image for fairuse so I never thought they doesn't allow to use official plot summary. Instead being a self source I decided to add to add official plot. If there's anything wrong with it then I promise to not do it again. So forgive as a new user and unblock me.

Decline reason:

You had previously been warned about violating copyright, but you continued to do so anyway. Wikipedia takes copyright VERY seriously, because hosting copyrighted material opens us up to legal trouble. We only allow copyrighted images in a very, very specific set of circumstances. To get unblocked you will need to show that you clearly understand our copyright policy. Ideally, you should recapitulate the policy and its key points in your next unblock request. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hello, User:CaptainEek, I was was not warned for block. User:Cyphoidbomb only told me to not copy. I thought it's because of the word Hush-hush. I understand most of rules and regulations very well. See my history. I never did vandalism. All my edits are good. So I got block without any block warning and its not fair. Hshygfh33 (talk) 07:59, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Copyright violations are not a small thing. My warning here was unambiguous and includes a clear message that copyright violations and plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you somehow thought that "DO NOT COPY" meant that you could copy, that speaks volumes about competency. Also, most educated people know that you can't just copy your homework out of other sources, so feigning ignorance about stealing content from other sources is a bit ridiculous. Request reason:

After reading [[1]] I completely understand the copyright policy of Wikipedia. Previously I only had knowledge about image policy. I also nominated 2 copyrighted images for deletion [[2]]. I clearly understand the policy now and will not repeat the mistake. Hshygfh33 (talk) 08:29, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As copyright violations could put Wikipedia in legal jeopardy, it is not enough for you to just tell us that you understand; you must demonstrate your understanding by explaining to us in your own words what copyright is, when copyrighted content can be used on Wikipedia, and in what manner. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:39, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I understand the uses of non-free content and what copyright really is. Copyright means a rights of any particular work. Which belongs to original owner. An editor should not copy text text from other sources into Wikipedia except short quotations and texts from free source. Coping text from non-free source is a copyright violation and constitutes plagiarism. I understand the copyright. I understand the it very well and promise to not repeat the mistake again. Please unblock me.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline; has not responded to questions below in a week. In a future unblock request, please answer the questions that Cyphoidbomb has posed below. only (talk) 11:15, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Follow-up questions:
  1. What sort of content is considered copyrighted?
  2. How do you know if material is copyrighted or free to use?
  3. If you are unclear on some of the nuances of Wikipedia's rules about including copyrighted materials, where at Wikipedia can you find answers to those questions? (For example, specific Wikipedia policy/guideline pages or places in the community where you could ask for help.)
Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:11, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
