A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Hovhanesscentre, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages: user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for businesses.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page in question and leave a note on this page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 10:20, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and forbidden by policies, and also violates our username policy.

However, if you feel that there has been a mistake in your blocking, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below or email the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Please check that your new username has not already been taken by checking this list.

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for letting me know. I'm not certain whether I have pasted the correct materials at the top of this-I only hope so. No, I am not trying to advertise or anything of the sort. I have just been having the most awful time with Mr. Marco Shirodkar and his "hovhanessdotcom" private website.

  • Mr. Berkofsky, don’t use Wikipedia as a platform against those whom you imagine to be against you. M. Shirodkar

I have been attacked up, down, and nearly everywhere by this guy, simply because I am trying to help supply Alan Hovhaness research.

  • Even if this claim were true - it is not - Wikipedia is not a platform for character assassination or personal vendettas. M. Shirodkar

In trying to establish (advertise?) himself as the "number one authority" of Alan Hovhaness (does he have any credentials?) he has stolen materials from me and my colleagues in Armenia, and has just been a major upset and hindrance in every way imaginable.

  • Your words, no-one elses, so perhaps that is how YOU perceive me ("number one authority”)? Whatever, nothing was stolen from you and there is also no legitimacy whatsoever in your inference of ownership. M. Shirodkar

I suspect he has initiated this present business.

  • Just paranoia – what you failed to suspect was proactive oversight by Wikipedia senior editors. M. Shirodkar

Again, I am not trying to advertise.

  • Putting up to five URLs after your name is blatant advertising / spamming. M. Shirodkar

I was a colleague and friend of Alan Hovhaness and just wish to see his story presented correctly and to contribute in this way.

  • Evidently your version of “presented correctly” acutely lacks neutrality... hence Wikipedia’s justified intervention. M. Shirodkar

Please advise me that we can put things right.

Sincerely,

Gosh,

I don't know how to answer. One feels like one is part of some bizarre Franz Kafka story. Back when I was trying to contribute as an individual, I was told to get a log-in identity. So I thought I was following the rules and did exactly that. Now it seems reversed. So what should I do? I'm grateful for your your kind advice.

Sincerely,

Martin Berkofsky
