I think it's something with the MIME type validation in WP. There was no file deletion in the file history. I have no idea how to fix it. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 13:38, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Eastern D.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Eastern D.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 04:57, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Han Chinese as Indigenous People

Hello, HongQiGong! I have a favor to ask, since we know that Han Chinese is not classified as indigenous people, even in China, I request your help to remove Han Chinese in the protected article of List of Indigenous People which is not educative and perverting. Thank you! Calvin Lourdes He discussion 05:38, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

arilang1234 and boxer rebellion

Arilang1234 has been doing Wikipedia:Canvassing, deliberately asking editors whom I have had disputes with- User:John Smith's and User:Smallchief

I request neutral editors like you engage in the discussion as well, to offset his canvassing. (you were not involved with boxer rebellion article)ΔΥΝΓΑΝΕ (talk) 17:57, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Its at this ANI threadΔΥΝΓΑΝΕ (talk) 17:59, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

False Accusations by Arilang1234 against me, check it out and confirm it at ANI

I counted at least 2 false accusations by Arilang1234 against me which you can easily take a look at (meaning its not muddled up or confused with random edits). #1 Arilang1234 claims I did not respond to Smallchief- I did #2 Arilang1234 claims I did not respond to John smith's concern about neutrality- I did

This is not just an ordinary mistake, or slip up by Arilang1234. My response to Smallchief and John Smith's was right there in plain english- and Arilang1234 deliberately went into the edit history to select and post specific edits I made before I responded, to make sure users were unable to see that I did respond to their concerns later. If he had posted a direct link to the section as it is now, all the users would have been able to seen my responsesΔΥΝΓΑΝΕ (talk) 18:29, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Collaborate on Ming and Qing history?

Hello there, I recently stumbled upon your user page and I thought you could be a great editor to collaborate with on my ideas to improve Wikipedia's Ming and Qing articles. I couldn't get a response on the Ming talk page nor from WikiProject Chinese history, even after a few weeks. My goal is to make it so people want to visit History of the Ming Dynasty for a more in-depth treatment of the subject; the current identical text of Ming Dynasty's history section makes visiting History of the Ming Dynasty superfluous, it doesn't have an apparent Raison d'être. Though I love it here on Wikipedia, my major overhauls of articles have been few and far between, so I do worry about the community responding to my major edit with torches and pitchforks, and my reticence has kept me from editing yet. Read more re: my proposed changes on the Editor assistance notice board.

Also, I wonder why there is no existing History of the Qing Dynasty article, and would Wikipedia's Qing content be improved by creating it?

Thanks for your time. :)

NickDupree (talk) 06:08, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

If you're mostly retired, could you recommend someone I could collaborate with? Point me in the right direction? I can't get a single response positive or negative from WikiProject Chinese history. It's really hard to be utterly alone trying to engineer major overhauls and improvements to Wikipedia's Ming and Qing content, and that discourages me from acting. --NickDupree (talk) 01:10, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Try User:PericlesofAthens. There is no better editor of Chinese history than him on Wikipedia. What you're trying to do is very daunting and it's going to be very time-consuming. You'll have to be very dedicated to be able to do it satisfactorily. That's also the reason why there is no History of the Qing Dynasty article. There aren't actually that many editors who are that devoted. And those who are, they get burnt out after spending enormous amounts of time on a few articles. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 05:43, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
I had a good conversation with Pericles last week and his encouragement was vital. Unfortunately he's retired from Wikipedia. With Pericles' thumbs up, I'm going to go ahead and overhaul Ming Dynasty, trimming back and summarizing the content duplicated at History of the Ming Dynasty because I think it is crucial in order for further improvements to even be possible. Then I will just pray greater editors (like you and Pericles) support the edits... --NickDupree (talk) 18:26, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Ok, cool. Have fun with it. I suggest you try to see it as a long-term project. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 21:28, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
I made the big submit... see Ming Dynasty and History of the Ming Dynasty.... NickDupree (talk) 05:09, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Chinaman

Hi, HQG,

There seems to be a conscious effort to mitigate the derogatory aspect of the term even to the extend of disregarding the respectful dictionaries IMHO. You should not have let it go so easily. Dwarm12345 (talk) 19:17, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

I am mostly retired from Wikipedia. And part of the reason being that editing controversial articles is a very consuming task. But regardless, I have read the discussion on the talk page and I'll come back to it from time to time. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 23:35, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Non-Free rationale for File:Lights Out HK.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lights Out HK.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.

If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Territorial disputes involving Japan

A tag has been placed on Template:Territorial disputes involving Japan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Wo.luren (talk) 00:35, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Image details

Hi, HongQiGong - sorry to trouble you.

There's an image at Commons (commons:File:Zhouxuan.jpg) which it looks like you might have uploaded originally here at WP. Unfortunately, probably when it got transferred to Commons, it seems like the details of where the image was first published and who created it have got lost. I don't think it creates much of a problem, because the image seems to me to be Public Domain (China), as the subject died in 1957. If you did happen to remember, after all this time, where the image was first published or who created it, then it would be good if that info could be added, so that the details are complete. I did some searches through the history, and couldn't find anything to help, so I'm asking just in case you happen to remember. Thanks. Begoontalk 09:00, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
