GA review edit

Thanks a lot for the review and copyedit, especially considering the size of this article. I guess that back when I expanded the article, I was in desire of filling big fighting game characters and Tekken was one of the ones lacking. I did make Kazuya Mishima and Lars Alexandersson GA too but I had aid from the reviewer too. These days I've been a bit inactive but I don't know if it was due to me trying Persona 5 or because I had no idea what to edit. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 21:48, 11 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

You're very welcome! Your work on video game character articles is to be commended. I know from experience how difficult it is to write those sorts of articles, and you've done an amazing job on all the articles I've read. Keep up the good work! ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:31, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Top page edit

Look who made it to the main page. Congrats for the FA and main page feature.Tintor2 (talk) 18:10, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can't believe I never thanked you for this. Was a long hard struggle to get that article to where it is now, but was happy to see it on the front page too. Maybe one day Yagami and KoF XIV can be on the front page too. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 00:26, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Takayuki Yagami edit

After a brief expansion, I plan to nominate Takayuki Yagami to GA considering there is coverage about every aspect of the character and in contrast to Jin's article, it's not that big. I also requested a copyedit so I'll wait until it to do it. Feel free to tag or add anything there. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 20:14, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

And Yagami became GA. I kinda need an advice. I found extra information about the origins of a FA I once made, Allen Walker. The character happens to have his actual origins explained only in a light novel rather than the main series (for now). As a result, I don't know where to put it, especially since there is commentary from the original author as well as the novelist. Could you give it a look? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 02:16, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'd suggest putting that information in the 'Concept and creation' section: it would've made my life with Jill Valentine a lot easier had I done so in the first place. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:47, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Review edit

Some months ago, I nominated The King of Fighters XIV and some days ago I got the article to be reviewed by a fellow user. However, the wifi in my city kind of sucks due to the quarantine. If possible, could you give the article a look in case you have the time? Just right now, I barely can edit well. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 21:32, 26 March 2020‎ (UTC)Reply

Yeah, no problem! I have the GA review on my watch list, and will try my best to resolve the reviewer's concerns when they respond. I've read the article, and a bunch of the sources... so that on top of my experience collaborating with you on a bunch of the series' game and character articles, I should be capable of dealing with any issues the reviewer may raise. I hope you and all your loved ones stay safe in this bizarre Corona Virus period. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:29, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
The reviewer had problems in real life so there was no review. Still, it's okay considering the crisis everybody is going due to the quarantine. I can't complain since I do office job at home during this time. BTW, I managed to make another GA, Vash the Stampede. In regards to articles, I sometimes have no idea what image should be used in the infobox. I mean, I get Jill Valentine's but why not use her remake model from RE1. The RE wiki has a full gallery? Then again, I still don't see what's the best image though. I had that problem with Cloud Strife where there was an argument between using his concept art or his remake look. I guess I'm kinda confused after seeing Kratos or Lara Croft's articles. Same thing with Dante (Devil May Cry) although that was easier to decide since there was an image featuring the first four incarnations of the character. Anyways, hope you are doing fine.Tintor2 (talk) 00:16, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Congrats on the Vash the Stampede GA. Well deserved! Uploading images onto Wikipedia is a tricky thing. You can upload as many Creative Commons images as you want (here are all of Jill Valentine's), but all copyrighted images (i.e., screenshots from games) need to have proper licensing. Sites like the RE Wiki don't have as strict copyright protections as this Wiki... so it'd be hard to use those kinds of images here. As a rule of thumb, I'd suggest using Creative Commons images where possible, but if that's not possible (as is the case with most video game characters) I'd suggest sticking with the character's most "iconic" appearance... if that makes sense. Hoping you and all your loved ones stay safe during this time. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:10, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I tried with this commons image in order to show the character's popularity similar to this Rising promotion of Raiden.I contacted the person who took the photo. He told me he would send the email of approval this week. Anyway, thanks for the talk :D .Tintor2 (talk) 22:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Jill Valentine-adjacent edit

Hello. I was just wondering, seeing as you managed to get Jill's articles to FA-status (which by the way, congratulations :D, I know how hard it can be to achieve that and how awful it feels when you can't manage to promote it again and again), I'm sure you must have read multiple sources concerning her. Such as her development, reception, and even sexualization. What I was curious about, when reading those sources, did any of them happen to mention Chris? Granted, he is a male video game character, but I'm wondering if any sources discussed his sexualization. Like, if Resident Evil Revelations: Official Complete Works discusses anything of that sort; why they chose his main outfit to be the way it is, or mentioning his Sailor outfit. PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:47, 16 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hey @PanagiotisZois: Good luck with whatever you're planning to do with Chris's article. Getting Jill's to FA is definitely not an experience I'd wish to repeat. Having said that, it was a pretty damn cathartic and fairly easy experience once a certain uncollaborative user stood aside. I hope he doesn't rear his ugly head during your efforts. As far utilizing Jill's sources for Chris's article, the Sara Grimes source has some nice comparisons of the differences between Jill and Chris, and the Paul Martin source has quite a bit of detail on Chris's background and his journey up to and including RE5. You may find those useful. But there isn't much else on the current version of Jill's article for you to use, unfortunately. It previously contained a source examining Chris's Revelations-era sailor outfit was, but I believe this was removed during the final "peer review" because it didn't fit a particular user's narrative (since it said that it wasn't "only the female characters" in the series which were subject to some "ridiculous costume choices", if I remember correctly). I'll try and find that source for you soon. Ditto Resident Evil Revelations: Official Complete Works, which is currently buried beneath a mountain of other books and box sets out in my shed. In the meantime, good luck with whatever it is you're planning. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 23:53, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Was this source by IGN? This one by any chance? PanagiotisZois (talk) 14:43, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi @PanagiotisZois:. I was the editor who originally overhauled the Jill Valentine article and unsuccessfully nominated it for FAC. Homeostasis, who took over from my work, told me what you are after. I bought Resident Evil Revelations: Official Complete Works in order to help write the Jill Valentine article, but I don't have access to it anymore. I ended up posting it to @Niwi3: in return for some sources he sent me, so if he still has it he might be able to dig it up and scan it for you. I did keep some scans from the book, but only relating to what I actually cited in the Jill Valentine article (in case anyone challenged any of it in the future). The bottom half of page 39 has drawings of Chris' sailor outfit with the following caption. "Creator Commentary: We ultimately made Chris' unlocklable outfit a sailor's outfit. I like silly clothes for bonus customes, so I made the shirt a super tight fit costume with short trousers. I was tempted to give him a handlebar moustache. [Sato]". So it seems they didn't consider the outfit 'sexual' themselves, only silly. There will probably be more commentary on his main outfit on other pages in the book. Incidentally the commentary on Jill's design, which I still have, doesn't actually say they deliberately sexualised her main character outfit. This seems to rather just be the interpretation from others. The designers do mention on page 31 that they were asked to remove some of the tactical gear on Jill so that you could see more of "her bodyline", but that's as much detail as they give. Page 33 shows the original concept sketch for an alternate outfit for Jill that is basically a very skimpy bikini. The designer [Yamakawa] says his designs were laughed at, and in retrospect describes the design as "shameless" and that he should have been "more careful". Hope that helps. I will happily email you the scans of those pages on request. Damien Linnane (talk) 04:35, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you both for the quick responses and wanting to help. :D I may take you up on the offer for scans, but I'm not sure if now is the right time. For one thing, I'm not sure if I can commit fully on using them thoroughly for any article. For another, I'm just not sure where to use them. These sources seem more appropriate for Chris' article, but I was trying to create one on the sexualization of male characters in video games (yeah, there are some examples XD) and from the scarce information I've been able to find, Chris is a good example of this phenomenon. I'll probably have to do more research on the topic and see what I find. If there aren't enough sources, I may just have to drop that idea and just focus on Chris. Well, either way, again, thank you both. PanagiotisZois (talk) 14:43, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mega Man X edit

Yesterday, I had some fun free time so I managed to create Mega Man X (character) thanks to some sourced content in some well written articles from the series. I tried sourcing almost everything in regards to reception among others but I am having problems finding information in regards to his English actors other than the one from Infinite. I'm kinda planning for a GA in the future should a copyedit happen but could you give it a look? I tried making the fictional information as small as possible but I guess it's easy to understand considering the narrative of the X games tend to be very simple. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 20:01, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Quite the coincidence. It was only a week or two ago I was watching my son play the Mega Man 11 demo. I'll see what I can find about the character. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:08, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

KOFXIV edit

I nominated The King of Fighters XIV to GA for the second time. The thing is that the first time the article was reviewed, the user was busy in real life (it was when social distancing started) and told him to give it a fail since I was already busy with Vash the Stampede. After I tried revising it again, I nominated again. If possible, could you give it a review? I could also review one of your nominations if you are interested. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 02:36, 11 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Help with FAC edit

Hello again! I hope you are doing well. Apologies for the random message. I was wondering if you could help with my current FAC. I completely understand if you do not have the time. I hope you are staying safe and healthy with everything going on in the world. Aoba47 (talk) 05:58, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

No problem. I currently need to respond to one of the reviewers of my own FA (which I hope to do within a couple of hours), and I owe Dark Warrior Blade an FA review (which I hope to start tonight and finish tomorrow), so maybe I might get to your article tomorrow as well. If not, then during the weekend. I hope you're keeping well too. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 23:48, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you for the response. The FAC has recently been promoted so apologies for the above message. I was uncertain if it needed further commentary at the time. Best of luck with the FA reviews, and please let me know if I can be of any help with any of your current projects. Two FA reviews are quite a lot already so in a way, I'm glad that I am not troubling you with yet another one on top of those. I hope you are having a great week so far! Aoba47 (talk) 18:16, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Definitely bit off more than I could chew asking 2 prolific editors to review my article simultaneously. But I'm making progress... slowly but surely. And congrats on yet another FA! You must be up to 40 by now? ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 23:38, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • It is getting up there lol. I know you can handle it, and it looks like your FAC is going in the right direction. Good luck with it and let me know how it goes. Aoba47 (talk) 00:06, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Congrats on the recent FA! Aoba47 (talk) 03:41, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks @Aoba47: I have to admit, I was fairly surprised when I saw that, to say the least. After what happened during, in-between and after Valentine's third and fourth nominations, I really didn't think FA would ever be a pleasant experience again... at least as far as my noms were concerned. Actually been quite a helpful exercise in putting all that crap to bed once and for all. Now to make a dent in the ever-growing list of all my other much-delayed work. ;) I don't watch high-traffic pages like WP:FAC, so let me know here if you nominate anything else in the near future. I feel bad I couldn't reciprocate for the review you provided. Happy to do so with your next project. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 22:46, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I am glad that this FAC was a better overall experience. I am still glad that you persisted with the Valentine article. I honestly never expected it to become a featured article so that was a very welcome surprise. Let me know if you need any help with any of your work. I have an endless of work too so I know how you feel there lol. And you never have to feel bad because you have already helped me a great deal! I am planning on taking a WikiBreak for this month, but I will be putting up a new FAC sometime in December. I have not been as active on here for the past few days, and it is nice to get some space. Sí, veo "Come Back (Before You Leave)" en Discogs. ¿Es esto? Un objeto curioso: un double A-side con otra banda. ¿Conoces a esta otra banda, "Tam Tam Go!"? Ahora agregaré "Come Back (Before You Leave)" al artículo y seguiré investigando. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 22:57, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Some Other Summer / Why Don't You Bring Me Flowers edit

Hey hey, I hope you're having a nice Friday (or Saturday as it is here in Australia). I'm just giving you a heads up that I created stub articles for the "Some Other Summer" & "Why Don't You Bring Me Flowers". I'm a "completist" and (for me at least) it's nice to have all of their singles with articles. haha. Anyhow, if you have any other information to add to them, that'd be great, because notability is a bit of an issue right now. Have a great weekend. PS> I am loving the Bag of Trix releases, what do you think? Tobyjamesaus (talk) 23:47, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Tobyjamesaus: Thanks a lot! The Good Karma singles have been on my to-do list for a couple years now, so it's fantastic to see them created, finally! I don't know why I've been procrastinating for so long. Probably a mix of too busy in real life, or working too much on other projects. But now you've come along. So kudos. ;) I need to add the Tida credits for Bag of Trix ASAP, but after I've done that I'll scan my documents for my saved "Some Other Summer" and "Why Don't You Bring Me Flowers?" sources (and I've not forgotten about "The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye") to see what can be added. And I'm actually loving Bag of Trix so far. I've always had a penchant for Marie's material, so I love how so many of her songs are being included. Altogether, I'm very impressed with the production value; these "demos" are a lot more produced than one would expect. I can't help but think how many other music fans would kill for unreleased material of this nature from their favourite artist/band. It's all quite extraordinary. ;) Hope you keep well in these troubling times. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 00:15, 14 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hey @Tobyjamesaus: sorry about the delay (was busy with "Piece of Cake", among other things), but what do you think of Some Other Summer and Why Don't You Bring Me Flowers now? They could still both be expanded with some of the reviews included in Good Karma, but I'll have to do that another time—after I bring Bag of Trix up to par, for a start, as well as some other projects that need doing. Hope you're keeping well. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 02:26, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hey, the articles for both songs are excellent. It’s a credit to you. Also, thanks for your work on Bag of Trix, it’s a great article. I hope it makes the Swedish charts next week. 🙂 Tobyjamesaus (talk) 08:23, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Roxette cover of Help edit

Your edit summary states: "The Roxette version has multiple sources establishing notability and its meeting SONGCOVER requirements". The two sources cited in the article don't cite "multiple sources establishing notability". One source simply states that the song is included in an album. The other source has nothing about Roxette's cover. There is no chart information or other indication of notability. Could you please tell us what those sources are that you refer to? Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 00:00, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sundayclose: The edit summary was in reference to the source quality, one of which I even removed as superfluous. You're never gonna find an outside source establishing a recording's notability on Wikipedia, that's for editors here to decide on a case-by-case basis. The other source confirms the song appeared on the airplay chart in Poland, and may have gone on to chart even higher were it not for the fact that the entire website died a death back in October (presumably due to Covid). This would have been the URL for the following week's chart. The song also may have appeared on other airplay charts throughout Europe, but I haven't had time to check those sources yet. Will do soon. Hope this helps. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 00:10, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
I disagree that we are "never gonna find an outside source establishing a recording's notability". Such sources are in Wikipedia articles about songs. For example, Help! (song) provides sources that establish the notability of the Bananarama version. If by "case-by-case basis" you refer to consensus, please direct us to the consensus about this song. Sundayclose (talk) 00:20, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sundayclose: What I meant was an outside source explicitly stating that a particular recording has been publicised by multiple other sources. One publication isn't likely to comment on articles written by a competitor. The case-by-case basis was in reference to each individual source utilised, such as Aftonbladet, a nearly 200 year old publication. Please confirm if your underlying contention is that non-English sources aren't equivalent to English/American ones. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 00:29, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
No, this has nothing to do with non-English sources. My point is that song articles do have citations to sources that establish notability of the cover, as in my Bananarama example. I don't see that for the Roxette cover. I'm still confused by what you mean by "case-by-case" basis. What is the case-by-case basis for the Roxette cover? Sundayclose (talk) 00:32, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sundayclose: That Aftonbladet is enough of a high-quality reliable source to establish its notability, and that the recording meets WP:SONGCOVER requirements. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 00:38, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
The Aftonbladet source simply states that Roxette did a cover of Help. From WP:SONGCOVER: "Merely appearing in an album track listing, a discography, etc., is not sufficient to show that a cover version is noteworthy". How does that source establish notability? Sundayclose (talk) 00:42, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sundayclose: The Aftonbladet source also has info on its recording. Paragraph beginning "Vi var (och är fortfarande!)"... Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:01, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
The duo states that they are fans of the Beatles. So am I. But if I record one of their songs that doesn't make it notable. Per WP:BRD, please get consensus for including the Roxette cover. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 01:06, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sundayclose: Finally getting to the crux of the issue. As suspected several responses ago: non-English sources. The source goes on to detail how the song was recorded, and why—and its release. The fact is that Roxette is a band which sold 75 million records. You are not. And technically, you are the one reverting the addition of sourced content, so you are the one required to establish consensus. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 01:16, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Again, this has nothing to do with non-English sources. Please don't create a strawman argument. Roxette states that they recorded the song in Abbey Road studios and that they are fans of the Beatles. That doesn't establish notability per WP:SONGCOVER. And it doesn't matter how many records Roxette has sold in general. This is not about Roxette's sales. It's about one cover version that does not meet the notability requirements of WP:SONGCOVER. I get it that you're a Roxette fan. If my favorite band records the song with no evidence of notability, that doesn't entitle me to add the cover to the article. Please review WP:BRD. Someone added the cover; that Bold. I Reverted because of inadequate sourcing for notability. It's now the responsibility of anyone who wishes to restore it (i.e., you) to get consensus. Take any further discussion to the talk page of the song. We're finished here. Sundayclose (talk) 01:34, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sundayclose: It appears to me that you are the one creating a strawman argument, with your loose interpretation of SONGCOVER and your dismissal of quality sources which perfectly demonstrate its notability. Me being a fan of anyone has little to do with anything at this point. But I see from your contributions page that you are currently engaged in several edits wars. It's just a shame that you let your interactions with other users determine your interactions with perfectly well-meaning users. But no skin off my nose. I'll just add the sources to the appropriate section of Roxette discography. Lennon was right in 1970. Off to listen to Gimme Some Truth. December 2020 edit

Your recent editing history at Slumdog Millionaire shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Help with FAC edit

Hey, I hope you are doing well. Would you mind helping me out with my current FAC? It's nearing the end of the year so I kinda want it done quickly lol.. Hope you're having a great weekend, (talk) 03:35, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@: I remember making that mistake. I nominated something at FAC in early November a few years ago, and sat back aghast as I saw an admin and now-former FAC coordinator turn that nomination into a shit-show all through the Christmas period. Not a mistake I will ever make again. But I digress. I'll review your nomination some time next week. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 02:03, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@: Supported the nomination. Hope it all works out for you in the end. I know how disheartening it can be to have a nomination archived several times, so was very happy to see 1989 promoted finally. Hopefully "New Romantics" won't take 3 nominations. ;) Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 03:14, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help! As this article is rather short I also hope it won't take 3 FACs to be promoted haha, (talk) 03:16, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@: congrats on "New Romantics" becoming an FA! And happy new year to you. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 23:50, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
