December 2022 edit

Hello, I'm MrOllie. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 14:09, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Wikipedia page about social robotics is outdated because it does not list several latest developments in the field (I added a list of robots to Examples section). Why listing NAO and Pepper is not considered to be promotional content and listing QTrobot, Misty, Navel and Kebbi is promotional? Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:08, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is not supposed to be a complete list. It is not a catalog or directory. - MrOllie (talk) 14:10, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 13:23, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Social robot, you may be blocked from editing. MrOllie (talk) 13:58, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

every computer is based on some basic things, including a robot. But I rephrased this part Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:20, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
would you specify more precisely what is the conceptual difference between my draft and other Wikipedia pages about other social robots? Other pages dedicated to social robots also speak about their technical characteristics, awards and use cases. Why is is forbidden to do the same for QTrobot?
I cite IEEE, HRI (major social robotics conference), Springer journals, European Commission, Luxembourgish government among others. What on these sources is not verifiable, not secondary, not in-depth and not reliable?
It is also not true that no meaningful changes happened after the first decline, please be more precise in your recommendations. This would really help.
Thank you very much! Hoenniboenni (talk) 13:42, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
You didn't mention 'independent of the subject' in your question. That is the important criteria here. MrOllie (talk) 13:59, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean? Researchers use robots for their experiments, the experiments are not independent of the robots.
What is the conceptual difference between my draft and this page for example? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keepon
Keepon even tells how to buy the robot, is this "independent of the source"? Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:04, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Focus less on other articles which may or may need need corrections and more on your own additions and their compliance with the guidelines. Are you associated with this robot or its makers in some fashion? Please review WP:COI and WP:PAID, certain disclosures are required by Wikipedia's terms of use. - MrOllie (talk) 14:07, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Are you maybe associated with the producers of NAO and do not want other robots to be included?
I added references that are compliant with the guidelines Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:10, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, you didn't. If you think you did, you need to re-read the guidelines thoroughly. They are linked in the above message. MrOllie (talk) 14:11, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
this is quite arrogant and not helpful at all Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:13, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Your argument does not reply to my question. Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:11, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
You also ignored my question. MrOllie (talk) 14:11, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Why did you delete this:
1) "and QTrobot originally designed at the University of Luxembourg"
2) "Other social robots that can be customised for therapeutic applications include Misty, Navel ([1]) and Kebbi (offered for instance by [2]). Several of these robots offer an SDK and a graphical programming interface to facilitate customization by non-technical people."
?
What do these passages need to make you happy? Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:19, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am disinclined to answer your questions if you do not answer mine. MrOllie (talk) 14:20, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Is this a power game now? so for you it is not about content at all? Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:23, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is about content - specifically about keeping inappropriate advertising out of Wikipedia. MrOllie (talk) 14:30, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I really want to understand why does Wikipedia promote SoftBank Robotics and NAO robots, and why you reject adding information about other robots? Again, the references that I added are compliant with all policies. If you have more concrete comments, it would be very helpful (which part of the draft is problematic and in which way, and what solution you suggest to improve). Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:40, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
And yes, I am aware of the COI and PAID policy. And I am writing this content as researcher in social robotics, not as a paid editor. Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:22, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
But you are associated with this project, correct? MrOllie (talk) 14:30, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am not associated with the manufacturer of the robot. Or what do you mean by project? Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:35, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
You are quite carefully splitting hairs there. I suppose that is a yes. If you continue editing about QTrobot, while being evasive in this way, I will escalate this to the appropriate noticeboard for further action. - MrOllie (talk) 14:41, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
What??? There are hundreds of project using QTrobot in the world. So which project do you mean? Hoenniboenni (talk) 14:45, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
