Zhang Xinxin (writer) edit

Hello, I'm BlackcurrantTea. I saw your message about Zhang Xinxin's date of birth at the BLP noticeboard. Each language edition of Wikipedia is a separate entity, with slightly different policies and guidelines. Because there's a reliable source for her year of birth at Words Without Borders, which it seems she would have approved before publication, it's unlikely that English Wikipedia would remove that. To ask that the exact date be removed from other Wikipedias, you'll need to approach each site separately. There are links to the articles in other languages in the left column of Zhang Xinxin (writer), under 'languages'.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me here, post {{help me}} here to ask editors who are online, or visit the Help Desk. I'll keep this page on my watchlist for a while. Kind regards, BlackcurrantTea (talk) 15:58, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you,Zhang Xinxin objects to the date and month being shown (the year is fine, as she has provided this information herself). Any help would be much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hkb100 (talkcontribs) 17:27, 13 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
There were three language versions with her date of birth: Malagasy, German, and Egyptian Arabic. I removed the date from the Malagasy site, with a link to your original post at the BLP noticeboard. I saw your note on the talk page of the German article. If you don't receive an answer after some time, ask at de:Wikipedia:Fragen zur Wikipedia. HitomiAkane, who created the Egyptian Arabic version, understands English. You can post on their talk page at the Egyptian Arabic site and ask them to make the change. (They may see a notification that I mentioned them here, but that depends on their preferences.)

I also removed the date from her record at Wikidata. Wikidata is a sort of centralised data repository. Some Wikipedia projects get information from it automatically, with no human review; thus changing the date there may prevent this happening in new articles about her.

Please ask Zhang Xinxin to be patient with the requested changes at the Egyptian Arabic and German Wikipedias. All of us are volunteers, and each project does things a little bit differently. Thank you. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 09:38, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

hello @BlackcurrantTea:, as you mentioned, Egyptian Wikipedia (in most cases) uses Wikidata as the main data source in the infoboxes, a slightly edit also were made in the article body. HitomiAkane (talk) 10:10, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, HitomiAkane, that was fast! Hkb100, this means only German Wikipedia now has the date. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 10:23, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! @BlackcurrantTea: and @HitomiAkane: Hkb100

Charles Eckford Luard moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Charles Eckford Luard, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Proposed deletion of Frank W. Ikle edit

The article Frank W. Ikle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not enough in-depth coverage to pass WP:GNG, and doesn't appear to meet WP:NSCHOLAR.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi Noahfgodard - thanks for reviewing this page. Ajia (apologies, I mis-spelled his name as A Jia in the entry) is a very important name in the world of Chinese children's literature, and his winning of the Bridge Honor 2022 reflects this. I'd be grateful if you could correct the typo in his name, and approve this record. I created it, he has approved it (he is a living person, so I thought it appropriate to check with him). What he has achieved in his field is equivalent to an Olympic gold medal (or two). Thanks Hkb100 (talk) 12:07, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Gaye Sculthorpe edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gaye Sculthorpe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.kcl.ac.uk/people/gaye-sculthorpe and https://www.deakin.edu.au/about-deakin/people/gaye-sculthorpe. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Moriwen (talk) 01:44, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
