October 2020 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Also, your user name suggests that your account is shared, but Wikipedia policy requires an account to be for one person acting in their personal capacity, so you should not continue to edit under your current user name. My content removal was explained by giving a reason to it, it is not acceptable that a fake information is still on wikipedia, only because of a subjective interpretation of a particular person. Moreover I disagree with your opinion that my name suggests a collectivity; even if it is my name or not, I am certainly a single person who edits stuff, not to say that your name is not a very realistic one. Please be more objective next time. HistoTeam (talk) 21:41, 20 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and thank you for expressing your concerns. I shall make a few comments which I hope may clarify things for you. Please feel welcome to let me know whether they do or not.
  • The only reason you gave for removing content from the article was that you thought it was "incorrect", but you did not explain why. Unfortunately, people create Wikipedia accounts and make changes to articles that they claim are correct but which aren't, for any of many reasons, including the following: deliberate vandalism; reading something on social media and assuming it's true; believing that they have more understanding of a particular subject than they actually have; editing with the intention of suppressing information they don't wish to be known; editing to promote their business, club, band, work, etc etc; editing to damage the business of their competitors; sincerely believing that they are acting objectively, but in fact being unconsciously biased by their particular interests; etc etc etc. Nor are these rare occurrences: they occur hundreds of times every day. Because of that problem we cannot accept information merely on the grounds that someone who has chosen to create a Wikipedia account says so. Instead we require support for information from reliable published sources. If the source cited doesn't support the claim you removed from the article, or if it does but you have good reasons for believing that the source is unreliable, then please explain why, and if you can give a convincing reason then your removal of the claim from the article will be fine.
  • A user name with "Team" in it gives the impression that the account is used by a team, rather than by an individual person. I am puzzled as to why you think not. Perhaps you can explain why. JBW (talk) 20:50, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I truely understand your concerns, and I consider them to be realistic. I will not explain why I have chosen this name including "Team", maybe I will modify it. Moreover, I thank people like you for signaling any illegal change done here, I really think your work is essential, even if I was a "victim" of you. I am a new person here in Wikipedia, so for my next work here I will take into consideration your advice. HistoTeam (talk) 16:17, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

OK. All of us when we start editing Wikipedia do so without knowing all the intricacies of Wikipedia's policies, guidelines, and so on, and most of us do things in good faith which turn out to be out of line with those policies etc. I certainly did, and I don't blame anyone else for doing so. As long as you are willing to learn as you go along you should do OK. I am giving you, below, some links to some Wikipedia policies, guidelines, and information pages, in case any of them may be helpful to you. I'm afraid in my opinion one of the worst things about Wikipedia is that we have far too many of those policies and guidelines, and most of them are far longer and more complicated than they need to be, which makes it difficult for new editors to know what is what. For that reason I don't advise you to try to read and learn everything there, but do have a quick look and see if any of the pages has anything helpful, and of course you can always come back to them and read more of them in future if you need further information.
One other thing that perhaps I should warn you about. Wikipedia:Username policy says "Usernames that are simply names of companies or groups are not permitted", and many administrators take that as applying to any username that looks as though it is the name of a group. Personally, I take a more liberal reading of the policy, but it is possible that one of the administrators who take narrower view of the matter may block your account from editing. You can take that risk and deal with it if and when it happens if you like, or alternatively you can avoid the risk by taking a new username now. If you do decide to do that you can just create a new account if you like, or if you would like to keep the history of your editing together in one account then let me know and I'll rename this account for you.
