June 2020 edit

Hello, I'm Prahlad balaji. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to FIRST Championship have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. --Stay safe, PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 17:56, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Prahlad balaji: Hi Prahlad, CJ Here. I understand that a bot may find the Vitruvian Bots' Weebly-hosted page questionable for a new user. It is a subdomain of Weebly (team4201.weebly.com), hosted for free, and could be spam. However, on human inspection of the actual site, it is clear that this is the actual FRC team 4201 page. Editing Wikipedia is new to me and I do not want to violate any norms by not addressing you before I make the exact same change that I did before. I will also add a note to the talk page that the Weebly subdomain is still sometimes a valid location of original, useful sources. Please clarify if this is okay, and you can always undo the edit again I suppose. HiltyCJ (talk) 03:10, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

OK, then please add it as a citation, instead of an external link in the body of an article. And BTW, don't ping bots, it's pointless. PRAHLADbalaji (M•T•AC) This message was left at 13:04, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to FIRST Championship. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it.
Your edit here to FIRST Championship was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://team4201.weebly.com/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 17:57, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@XLinkBot:   I am concerned that this bot may have too high a sensitivity to subdomains of weebly.com sites in articles related to pre-college youth organizations. In this context, weebly are often used by real people who are not yet 18 and cannot purchase a domain because electronic payment options are not legally available to them, but they are responsible for creating a website or web presence for their group.
