Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Power Ledger (2nd nomination)

You may have inadvertently broken my little bubble where I took articles published in big name media houses with byline, as good sources. Promising myself to never do it again. Thanks to you. - hako9 (talk) 12:46, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Hako9 the WP:NCORP guidelines were tightened up in early 2019 in order to make it abundantly clear that "Independent Content" is as important as there being independence between the topic company and the publisher. You might find other topic areas in Wikipedia that don't emphasize Independent Content for different reasons but the amount of spammy corporate articles that were using Wikipedia as a secondary webpage had to be addressed. You also responded on the AfD page .. one thing you said was "The Hindu's article HighKing says it should be completely disregarded since it contains a quote at the end by Power Ledger Chairman Dr Jemma Green." That isn't what I said (or meant). The Hindu article says that it is based on "a report by the RENeW Nexus project team". I was pointing out that the report was *co-authored* by the company chairman (she's on the RENeW Nexus project team). In other words, the Hindu article was based on a report which was co-authored by the company chairman. You also say in relation to the ZDNet article that "although, significant portions are quotes by the co executives but it still has some independent content." Take another look and this time, remove all of the quotes provided by Green or those parts attributed to her and see what's left. There's nothing remaining that provides in-depthe information on the company and therefore it is of no use as a reference for notability. HighKing++ 15:21, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
