This is the start of a draft for a friendlier warning and attempt at resolution for established editors engaging in personal attacks.

While I want to make clear that block can result of continued personal attacks in the least hostile manner I want to also offer alternatives that can deescalate the situation.

I also want to give the user the option of simply walking away and not repeating the offense.

The reason for this is that the standard templates are inappropriate for established users. While this page could be used as a template it can also be used as the basis for a more personalize message tailored to a specific incident.

I would like to get input from people who recently dealt with NPA warnings/blocks and those who give out NPA warnings/blocks. All are welcome to contribute. Chillum 18:42, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

The text is currently a bit clumsy. Mind if I make a test edit?--MarshalN20 Talk 00:41, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please, prose is not my strong point. Chillum 00:51, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I did what I could, but I also lack that "poetic" quality some of our better volunteer editors have in their skillset. I hope it was of help. Regards.--MarshalN20 Talk 02:26, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Clearly an improvement. I will have to work in some template magic to omit the sentence with the diff if no diff is provided, but I think I can figure that out. Good idea to include a diff. Chillum 05:11, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Good bit of copy editing from Marshal, I've added a little myself. Would you like me to create a template? WCMemail 17:10, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Template:Newbie-biting
Template:Scissors
Template:Facepalm
Are a couple of mine. I haven't done it for a while though. WCMemail 17:17, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
I was planning on adding template markup. I was originally making it as a personal template but it could be a mainspace template instead. I am not sure if the specific offers I am making are something that every admin would want to make but at the same time there are other templates if they want to say something different. This is looking very nice. I can already picture this getting good use by editors, and undoubtedly will serve the purpose of diplomatically combating incivility in Wikipedia.--MarshalN20 Talk 20:34, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
