Thanks for your report

I blocked after the editor didn't answer my question and continued uploading images. I've also deleted the images. --NeilN talk to me 17:27, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

NeilN Thank you very much. You were right to wait to give the user a chance to explain their actions to another editor, not a bot. I will take that into account next time I go to report someone. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:31, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

Konrad Buettner Wikipedia Page

Please remove the Nazi Party section from Konrad Buettner's page or supply me many references to prove that my Grandfather was a part of the member of the Nazi party (beyond what he needed to be to be in the german army or to survive as a german citizen). If it is just cite #!, that is not adequate. He was not involved with the Dachau concentration camp, and that is a poorly worded sentence, please remove.

Nazi Party[edit] 1933 - 1945, Sturmabteilung (SA), member 1933 - 1945, National Socialist German Workers' Party, member During World War II, Büttner was attached to the Medical Department of the Medical Research Institute for Graf Zeppelins active in Stuttgart-Ruit, previously the Luftwaffe main testing ground at the Rechlin–Lärz Airfield.Büttner lectured as government medical officer at the sessions on medical issues in distress and death in winter on 26 and 27 October 1942, where he was speaker and Ernst Holzlöhner lead the "supercooling experiments" in the Dachau concentration camp.[1]

@204.130.228.108: Hello! The reason I kept adding it back in is because whoever added it, and it wasn't me, used that source and you gave me no reason for deleting it. Thank you for approaching me so we can discuss this but please next time use edit summaries so we will not have to keep reverting each others work. As well, please take a look at WP:CONFLICT because if this is a family member you should not be editing their wiki page. It was suggested by another editor that you use the Talk:Konrad_Johannes_Karl_Büttner to get the Nazi party information removed due to your Conflict of Interest, and we can discuss this there. Message about edit removal

I had edited his interceptions to 6 after the game ended and it was removed, however I understand why after seeing the change logs and vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:E7CB:C500:35F4:BA14:8CC0:F231 (talk) 21:33, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

University Academy

I just added the school's mission and vision. A nonprofit's mission and vision are statements about their purpose and aspirations. I didn't make these things up, they are this public school's mission and vision. These things are important elements for the reader to see.

Hello! It is perfectly acceptable to state their mission just use more neutral wording. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:31, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Redirecting page.

Hello! Recently I deleted a redirect from "Lightsaber Combat" to "Lightsaber". You reverted the change with a good basis behind your actions. Im relatively inexperienced to wikipedia, but have made an article before which has been accepted. I have also completed the tutorial. If I wish to make an article based on "Lightsaber Combat" (all canon and non-canon forms etc.) , how do i do so without affecting the existing redirection?

Darnburn98 —Preceding undated comment added 21:08, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

@Darnburn98: Hello! Thank you for coming to me. I see that you've contributed a lot of Wikipedia, thank you for your contributions. I want you to know my revert was only in good faith because I can see you're here to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. I only reverted your edit because I did not understand why you deleted it. One way to not affect the redirect is by adding at the top of the Lightsaber page: {{|About|"This article is about the Lightsaber. For (your page), see..."}} and then you can insert a link to your page using square brackets. This will redirect people to your page. If you want, you can ask your question about redirection at the Teahouse and more experienced editors might be able to help you. As well, you can ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Anyways, I hope this helps! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:29, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Don't be afraid to call a spade a spade

[1] - Being able to accurately call out vandalism will increase the community's trust in your judgement. --NeilN talk to me 01:41, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

@NeilN: Alright, thank you. Sometimes I worry about being called out for not assuming good faith so I use AGF by default. I will try to be more assertive next time., I appreciate the comment. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:42, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
If you're unsure you can always revert using AGF and then ping me for my opinion. By the way, this won't notify me. A ping has to be accompanied by a new signature. --NeilN talk to me 01:48, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Okay, thank you! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:02, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

@JPHaddad: Hello, since you have an admitted Conflict of Interest it is advised that all edits you make be proposed on the talk page. As well, all changes should be backed up by reliable third party sources, as laid out in WP:RS. I left you a note on your talk page regarding all of this. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:56, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
One of the reasons I reverted your edits to begin with was because you deleted sourced information without explaining why. Please make use of the edit summary box so other editors understand your edits. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:58, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

vandalism

Hi, please take a look at this user's "contributions".

They've spent the last 10 days making random changes to dates and other figures in random articles.

@DrVoge: I've reverted their edit on Facebook, and warned them, and another user has reported them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. That's the best I can do at the moment as I am not an admin, sorry.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:44, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
And they've been blocked. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:44, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

Edit made

Hey I’m new to this whole wiki editing why did you change the edit on Skylar Barrowman google him he deserves to be up there just as much as all the other alumni he is a Afghanistan combat veteran trying to make his way into becoming a self published author he is also pictured in a Prince George’s county psychology book also in the 2013 combat photo of the year. Illiterateliterate (talk) 05:35, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

@Illiterateliterate: Hello, thank you for messaging me. I agree that this person is notable however we need proof they exist. You can create their article, WP:YFA, or you can provide a reliable source as laid out in WP:RS and re-add it to the article. An example of a reliable source would be a third party source-not something self published. Feel free to message if you have any questions or check out WP:Teahouse and the help desk. Warning and reporting

Hi HickoryOughtShirt?4. Thanks for your recent work reverting vandalism. Just as a small note, when deciding how to respond to a single instance of vandalism, you should typically either warn the user or report to AIV, but not both. For example, at User talk:GGmates, you posted a level 3 warning, an AIV report, then a level 4 warning – all for a single edit. In this case, a single AIV report without a warning would have probably sufficed. Alternatively, it would have been better to wait until the user vandalized again after your last warning before reporting.

The reasoning behind this is that typically administrators will be less inclined to block when a user has not edited since their most recent warning. In such a case, we would be denying the user a chance to respond to the warning, and it would also render the warning pointless. All the best, Mz7 (talk) 02:06, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Alright, thank you for explaining that. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:10, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
@Mz7: I mostly warn a lot because I want to cover my back...like I don't want to get in trouble for not warning enough but I can for sure see how I can go overboard, especially in that situation. I will remember this for next time. Sorry for editing my previous comment a little too late, I realize I might've accidentally broken talk page protocol. Just added it here instead HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:46, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, no worries. Ultimately, I think this is a fairly minor issue; the main goal is to stop disruption to the encyclopedia, however it gets done, so thanks for your work on that front.   Mz7 (talk) 06:37, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
