Euro Hockey Tour 2011–12 final standings
Hello! I haven`t any official source, EHT hasn`t any official webpages. I have only lot of experiences with hockey statistics and I don`t remember any international ice hockey competition (or league so) in last 30? years where the goal difference from all matches is the first tie breaker. And i saw this IIHF webpage, before i made this edit. http://www.iihf.com/competition/272/homeiihf/exhibition-games.html Yeah, EHT isn`t IIHF competition, i think, so...
Before final day czech commentator said that match between CZE and RUS will be decisive match regardless result of FIN - SWE. I have some experience that journalists often forget to head to head results and think the goal difference (which is easily to see in table) is decisive tiebreaker. I don`t know :-) It doesn`t matter.
So, teams got some prize money. The best way to find the truth is mail to Finnish or Russian ice hockey association and ask them how much money they got... :-) Ok, thanks.--CZMajkl (talk) 14:04, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Your response raises an interesting point: journalists may assume that goal difference is the first tie-breaker because that is the most usual one (at least in the Elitserien). However, looking at this page (scroll down to "League standings"), I think that goal difference is the correct tie-breaker in the Euro Hockey Tour standings. However, before the Swedish Ice Hockey Association updates this page, we won't surely know. Russia went 8-4 in points against Finland in this Euro Hockey Tour season. Also, I do think it's somewhat strange that head-to-head results is the first tie-breaker in each tournament, but not in the total standings. Best regards, HeyMid (contribs) 14:59, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
