Page moves

Hey Heymid (wow, that sounded weird).

Hold your horses a bit. I agree with the page moves, but firstly pages should not be moved by copy-pasting. That will mean losing the edit history. There is a move tab on each page (unless the page is move-protected). Please use that tab instead. If there is a redirect in the way (in which case the move will fail), then post a db-g6 request for a speedy deletion of it, and when it's acted on (place the redirect on watch), move the page.

Secondly, there has recently been editwarring over this, it may be best to take a pause and let all feelings cool off a bit before proceeding with more moves.

Cheers

Hello. I couldn't use the move tab, as you had requested speedy deletion of the pages (pages can only be moved back if the current redirect page has only one revision). As far as I understand, the statements at WP:HOCKEY regarding diacritics are the ones that should be followed in regards to hockey player articles. Is that so? I mean the thing with a redirect with only one revision. That would certainly explain things. I didn't know that. But you still shouldn't copy-paste content for the abovementioned reason. Regards. HandsomeFella (talk) 21:45, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, as long as you are not an admin you cannot move pages if the redirect page has more than one revision. Admins, on the other side, can move pages "over redirect", which means that all revisions on the redirect page are deleted. As your speedy deletion requests apparently were revision number 2 in both cases, you could have moved them directly instead of requesting speedy deletion. HeyMid (contribs) 21:51, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
