Party flags

Hi, I see you have been adding party flags to the articles on Israeli political parties. Are you sure this is a good idea given the very poor quality of the images on the fotw site? I think that some of the flag pages are quite informative. Why don't you write to the FOTW pages and tell htem the Meretz page is out of date. By the way, what do you mean you believe in a multi-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict? Also I wouldn't be so quick to admire Nelson Mandela considering that his movement is so hostile to Israel. SA was one of the very few countries to vote against Israel joining the Red Cross (the other non-Moslem countries being North Korea, Red China, Cuba, Zimbabwe and Venezuela). South Africa's government takes a postion alongside Libya, Syria and Iran, and is more radical on Israel than even moderate Arab states like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman, Morocco and Jordan. SA fully suports Haasmas and unlike moderate Arab states has never called on Hamas to recognize Israel.

Yes, but Mandela has nothing to do with the South African government these days. I admire the way he handled SA's transition from Apartheid to equality - one only has to look at Robert Mugabe to see how wrong it could have gone. If only Arafat had been willing to forgive and compromise!

With regards to a "multi-state" solution, I don't believe a two state solution will suffice - as we have seen in the former Yugoslavia, countries will keep breaking down into their ethnic components, i.e. first Serbia lost Croatia, Slovenia et al, then Montenegro, and soon Kosovo (and what chance Vojvodina in a few years?). A two state solution is not enough as there are more than two ethnic groups in the Holy Land. It is too radical to ever happen, but I believe the only way true peace can be achieved is to redraw the whole map of the near east (extending to Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine) so that there are independent and decent-sized states for Jews, Christian Arabs, Shia Arabs, Sunni Arabs, Druze, Bedouin, and even a micro-state for the Samaritans. You forgot about the biggest sateless nation in the Middle East-the Kurds. I believe that a Palestinain state cannot be viable because they have no reasonable leaders. I would support the Arab-majority areas of the WEst Bank being absorbed back into Jordan, and the major stettlement blocks being absorbed into Israel, with Gaza being absorbed back into Egypt.

By the way you make a great point about Yugoslavia. I cannot believe that those who advocate the dismemberment of Israel and it's replacement by a 'unitary Palestine'- i.e a so-called 'one state solution' say that the nation-state is an anachronism. Those insulated academics who refer to the nation-state as an anachronism are ignoring the message of recent history, which has seen the birth (or rebirth) of a plethora of nation-sates, from the ruins of enforced multi-national artificial entities : Hence in the last 18 years we have seen the independence of nation-states including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Eritrea and East Timor. I also believe that the United Kingdom will break up into independent states of England, Scotland and Wales. ( I believe that Northern Ireland (Ulster) with it's Protestant Scots-Irish majority, should be independent of both the UK and the Republic of Ireland.) So why are the Jews of all nations begrudged a sovereign state in their ancient homeland?

Yes, if you want to go further east, the Kurds and the Assyrians should have homelands in the Syria/Iraq/Turkey area. Jordan I think should become the "Bedouin" state, whilst Palestine would become part of a Sunni state incorporating the Sunnis in Syria and eastern Lebanon (the Shia state would be northern Lebanon + coastal Syria).

Anyway as I mention on my userpage I think every ethnic group should have an independent homeland - I would also support Cornish independence from England. In my eyes Northern Ireland should be split down the middle with the western half (mostly catholic) absorbed into the Republic, and the eastern half (including Belfast) becoming an independent protestant state. I don't think the two groups could work together even in an independent state which would be guaranteed not to join the UK/Republic - look what happened to Cyprus after independence despite the promises made to the Turkish population that there would be no Enosis. Regardless, the EU is a great framework for supporting small states militarily and financially and will hopefully encourage more groups to go it alone. Number 57 13:43, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

The article Procapitalism Israel has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. I have deleted your addition of this party for a second time because it is already there as "Justice for All" (Tzedek laKol), its alternate name (I noted this in the edit summary (see here) which you can read on the "History" tab).
