Naming conventions, Danzig, Königsberg, Braunsberg etc.

edit

Welcome to WIKIpedia! It's good to have you!
I'm writing this because I want to clue you in on some stuff.
Gdańsk/Danzig vote DOES NOT rule that German names will be used primarily for XVI and XVII century. Exception is only made for Gdańsk and Królewiec exclusively, because they were major, very important cities known in the world under their German names. It's not true however for Warmia, Braniewo, Frombork etc. When an article talks about those lands under Polish rule, these places get ONE German name in brackets and then the Polish name throughout the period in question. It also works the other way around: when talking about Poznań under Prussian or German rule, you write "Posen (Poznań)" once and then "Posen" throughout. If you have any questions, doubts, unclarities please write me and I hope together we can work something out.
To na razie tyle. Narka, i witam jeszcze raz.

PS. Fajna ksywka.

It's an unwritten policy observed (more or less consistently) by both sides. Space Cadet (talk) 19:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. You tagged this as a possible hoax: it seems from Google Books that at least he exists and has written the books cited. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:57, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wydaje się, iż profesor konsekwentnie unika zaproszeń do wydawnictw typu Who is who. Refy

Artykul powinien miec inline citations. Witold Milewski (mathematician) followup

edit

Thanks for locating a possible source for the Witold Milewski ‎article. The person who created that article also created several other articles about Polish mathematicians and most of them have little or no evidence of notability in the articles. It would be helpful to add Polski Słownik Biograficzny references (if they exist) to them prevent future AfD's before they happen. I would do this myself but, as I mentioned in the deletion discussion, I'm having problems getting information from the PSB web-site. The other articles are:

  1. Kajetan Garbiński
  2. Stanisław Grzepski
  3. Jan Rajewski
  4. Adam Danielewicz
  5. Kazimierz Abramowicz
  6. Feliks Barański

Thanks.--RDBury (talk) 11:32, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

For helping out with Wawel. It would be nice to improve that major Poland topic to something better! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:35, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
