Maurice Wilkes article: V J Wilkes OBE incorrectly described

edit

As M V Wilkes’ son and it may be better that someone else corrects this article which wrongly describes my grandfather V J Wilkes as an accounts clerk.

My grandfather V J Wilkes OBE rose to a senior position in Lord Dudley`s mining interests and was at one time represented South Staffordshire on the National Coal Board. He was also president of Dudley Council 1931-2. My grandfather was appointed OBE for services as Coal Supply Officer in the 2nd world war. During the coal strikes he was swarn in as a Special Constable. To quote from the note by M V Wilkes with VJ’s Special Constables’ medal, ‘It was the custom to so appoint prominent people in this way as a gesture without any expectation that they would be called upon for active service’ Hemiarnum (talk) 13:09, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

could someone please explain why I receive a message that my IP 82.132.230.170 has been blocked? The message gives no explanation. None of the information above seems to help. I would enormously appreciate some assistance. Many thanks, Anthony Wilkes Hemiarnum (talk) 13:09, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

There is already an open unblock request above. You do not need to create more requests. SQLQuery me! 18:49, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
