Conflict of interest

edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. A page you recently created, User:Healthmadeeasy, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new pages, so it will shortly be removed (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Your first article. You may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you.   If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:20, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.

Request reason:

WebMd can have a page but a like kind site cannot? We, unlike they, are selling NOTHING and purely providing news and health info - I am a bit unclear to the reason for the block

Decline reason:

You just admitted that this account is a shared account, which is not permitted under our policies. — Blueboy96 17:14, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I "admitted" what??? This is a "shared" account?? We are NOT affiliated with WebMd - What I DID say was that we are a like kind and you will block us but not them...for what reason was the question? Are you a stockholder? Healthmadeeasy (talk) 19:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Allow me to clarify. Nobody -- not you, not me, not WebMD -- is allowed to put up articles or links about themselves or their companies. That's all that really matters here. As suggested above, take a look at the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 19:11, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock}} Finally! Someone who makes sense responds. OK not a problem - The page was strictly informational and not intended as a "sales pitch" or "advertisement", I realize this is not MySpace but figured if WebMd can have a page why not us as well? I suppose our site visitors know more about us than we do and can provide our MD's Bio and maybe one day we will be honored by a page here. Take care Healthmadeeasy (talk) 19:22, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You have several problems:
  • Your login name and the fact that you say “we” indicates that this is group account. Wikipedia allows only individual accounts. That is why your account was blocked. I doubt that this account could be unblocked, but you could create a personal login for yourself.
  • Not all web sites are notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia. WebMD is clearly a notable web site; I fear that HealthMadeEasy.com is not sufficiently notable. See WP:WEB for the Wikipedia’s notability guideline for web sites. Unless your site is notable, any article about it will be deleted.
  • Even if your web site is notable enough for an article, an article must be written from a neutral point of view. Advertising is not allowed. Since you have a Wikipedia:conflict of interest, it is very difficult for you to be neutral about yourself. The reason your user page was deleted was that it read like blatant advertising. —teb728 t c 06:27, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
