Cite arxiv

Hi. Just to let you know I've reverted one of your edits [1]. Archive-url, archive-date and access-date are not supported by cite arxiv, so changing cite web to cite arxiv causes errors. --John B123 (talk) 09:14, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

I'm aware yes, that's why I set Citation bot to run on it. It's just stuck in the backlogs. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 09:15, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
These errors are not picked up by citation bot, --John B123 (talk) 09:19, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
They normally are, but the {{cbignore}} prevented it from cleaning things properly. Anyway, I fixed it. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 09:21, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
You might also want to have a look at this one too. [2] --John B123 (talk) 09:28, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
The bot's on it, it's just a matter of it catching up. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 09:31, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

predatory source?

Greetings! The source below looks like a peer-reviewed academic research article by established economists and political scientists at Harvard University. It is published in an open-access journal, which might have triggered the "predatory" tag.

Yes, it's a well-known predatory journal, and thus is not a reliable source that should be cited on Wikipedia. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 23:11, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

help?

Sorry, me again with a problem I cannot figure out on Barbara Bloemink. I am sure there is some technical glitch, but I cannot figure out what. "Bloemink, Barbara (2000). The Art of Esteban Lisa. New York: Hirschl & Adler Gallery. ISBN ‏978-0-915057-67-2 Check isbn value: invalid character (help)" except, I hand typed that isbn and if you follow the link, it correctly links to google books and worldcat. Since it is only numbers and dashes, there is no extraneous character. The help link says "ISBN has one or more 'digits' that is not in the allowed set appropriate to ISBN length" whatever that means. Does it mean one of the last 3 places (because 978 is the 13 digit prefix and 0 or 1 means English) is too long? To try to figure it out, I looked at the ISBN Converter, but it shows it exactly as I have typed it. Can you use your magic and fix it? Thanks! SusunW (talk) 16:13, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

@SusunW: Fixed. There was an invisible character screwing things up. Very likely resulting from a copy-paste of something from somewhere. It's definitely a frustrating error to run into. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 20:35, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
I still just think you have magic. Thank you so much! SusunW (talk) 20:45, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
Magic in this case is having run into that error before and pulling my metaphorical hair out for a few hours before someone else helped me. So basically your path is basically mine, delayed by a few years. There was a quote, from Niels Bohr I think, that an expert is someone who's made all the mistakes that could be made in a very narrow field. So by that metric, don't fret, you're well on your way there! Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 20:48, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

Cta Linguistica Hungarica

Hello, Headbomb,

Just a reminder that when you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/TFD/etc.), you should leave a notice on the talk page of the page creator. In cases like this one, a notice could help the editor realize when they are making bad choices. I see you used Twinkle, which is great, so please check your Twinkle Preferences and make sure that "Notify page creator" is checked and also that every speedy deletion criteria is also checked. I think the standard setting that Twinkle starts with is to only have a few frequently used criteria checked but there is no reason to notify an editor about a CSD A7 tagging but not notify them about a CSD R2, right?

Any way, thank you for all of the work that you do! I hope all is well with your off-wiki life. Liz Read! Talk! 21:26, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

I use the default settings, no idea why the notice wasn't sent. If it's not sent by default, very likely this isn't something that needs a notice for. If the community feels otherwise, they can change the default twinkle settings. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 11:11, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

Dignity Restoration Review

Hello! I made significant revisions to the Dignity Restoration draft, in response to your helpful feedback that it was structured like a coatrack. I re-submitted the draft for publication about two months ago and unfortunately, it is still awaiting review. I completely understand if you are busy with other edits, but if you have a moment in the next couple weeks, would you mind taking another look? Thank you so, so much! Antenna

Just noticed your comment - I have not seen that specific issue, but Antenna is quite certainly a fairly reliable newsletter from the Royal Entomological Society a sample issue. Shyamal (talk) 04:13, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

I'm not saying Antenna isn't reliable. I'm saying that the only mention of that article/citation is only found in SCRIP journals. So unless you have that issue of Antenna, and can confirm this article actually exists... we can't cite it. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 05:29, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
Actually, nevermind, I think I mixed that paper with another one from another article. I'm not actually sure because I look at that edit and can't really make sense of why I would have made it in the first place. Undone. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 05:36, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
