Maps on tr.wikipedia edit

Hi there! I followed your newly added interwiki link on Khojali to the Turkish Wikipedia, where I noticed you had put a map there of Khojali (apparently with Nagorno-Karabakh's boundaries, as it looks like Martakert is one area, but that's not relevant for this comment; it also looks like it has the different divisions of Baku). I just wanted to know I have a blank map (Image:Azerbaijan districts blank.png) that you can use to make division maps; it's a little more accurate than yours I'd say, but it only has dashed lines for Martakert, and doesn't have the Baku divisions. But, it could be useful. Not saying you HAVE to of course, I just wanted to let you know it existed, and it's relatively simple to remove things like the lakes, international borders, etc. Always nice to see more mappers around, especially on other wikipediae. :) --Golbez 20:18, 29 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You could always just use the maps I already have made (Example for Khojali: Image:Azerbaijan-Khojali.png). :) Again, not trying to force it on you, just offering as an option. I can make versions without Nagorno-Karabakh colored in if you'd like. As for how I would use the blank map, I would load it into an image program like Paint or The GIMP, fill in the areas with the color you want, then shrink it down to 300px or so. That's how I made mine. --Golbez 23:21, 29 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

PKK edit

I was informed by Khoikhoi to inform you about a few wikipedia policies/rules regarding how 'terrorism' is to be treated.

Firstly we try to evade contraversial accusations whenever we can. For example declaring the United States or Turkey is out of the question. Same goes to organisations like Hamas, PKK, IRA, Hezbollah, Al-quadia...

It is ok to say that these organisations are recognised as terrorist by a number of countries, it just isn't ok to name-call them as terrosit.

Hope this helps.

--Cool CatTalk|@ 21:03, 14 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry but there are pages about IRA,ETA or 9/11 victims, and nobody opposes when we call IRA ETA or Al-Qaeda as terrorist organisations. What is the privilege of PKK? If the press of your country is independent you should have seen the events going in last few days!!! --Hattusili 06:37, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I for one view the IRA, Al-quida, hamas, ETA, PKK as terrorist. I also do not trust the media... that includes all media.
PKK has no special privilage. On the article why dont you write about the events going on last few days? If the events in question are terrorist, the reader will conclude to that end. Sep/11 for example is portrayed as just an attack even though it is perhaps one of the worst example of barbarism in modern human history. I view it as a terrorist attack and I would revert any edit talking about sep/11th as a terrorist attack. On that article it is ok to talk about people intentionaly flying planes into buildings, it is not ok to talk about people commiting terrorist acts.
I am trying to get rid of pov categories such as Category:Kurdistan etc. as well as Category:PKK victims.
--Cool CatTalk|@ 08:33, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for helping me in this subject, I will consider your critisism in my future articles. I don't want to be offensive; the only thing I want to do is create neutral articles about Turkey. You are right, the reader must decide if an act is a terrorist attack or not. thanks--Hattusili 08:53, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you got any questions, I'd be more than welcome to help in any way I can. I am not criticising you, I am merely pointing out a few wikipedia policies. --Cool CatTalk|@ 09:05, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Her türlü yardıma hazırım. Selam. --Cretanforever 07:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

First rule: Be cool! --Cretanforever 07:50, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's ridiculous for you to talk about the reaction of the people in Diyarbakir and not mention the actions of the Turkish army. The recent events are the product of inequality and the proof of the non-existing democracy in Turkey. In 1923, Ataturk promised some Kurdish rights but broke all of them at the end. The Kurdish people are not even a ethnic minority in Turkey and they are treated bad; cannot speak your language, cannot study your history.. excuse me mr. pasa but if you even restrict one of those I will be fighting for it until I die; and how could you be saying you will fight for your beliefs/rights to the death, isn't this what PKK is fighting for? I am Kurd and I will not accept in any way to live in the Turkish Republic just because of the name of the country. Biji Serok Kurdistan! Ozgur Gerilla 08:07 PM, 17 April 2006

selam edit

Hi. I'm just leaving this message to let you know my rationale behind why I was disputing the name Ahmed/Ahmet.

The first reason is that, as I briefly mentioned in my most recent message on the talk page, Haşim did spend the majority of his life writing in the Arabic script, and insofar as I think that fact should be respected, I prefer to opt for a Latin spelling that more accurately transliterates the name as he spent most of his life writing it.

The second reason is simply that I have always been a stickler for absolutely precise transliteration, and so tend to get somewhat peeved when, as in the example of some of the Ottoman sultans especially, people casually start writing "Ahmet" and "Mehmet" and so forth, rather than "Ahmed" and "Mehmed". With the sultans, it is of course no question: they used only the older script, and so their name should be written with a "d". With people around the time of the 1928 language change, however, the issue becomes a lot stickier indeed.

Also, I hope you do not object to my keeping the name written as "Ahmed Haşim" in the Turkish literature article that I wrote: there, I chose to use a certain accepted form of transliteration for all names, terms, etc., from before the founding of the Republic of Turkey, and I would prefer to keep that transliteration system intact within the article.

Thanks for a reasonable discussion on the issue, and, as I said, if you do not object to my keeping "Ahmed Haşim" listed as an alternative spelling in his article, then I will make the appropriate redirects. —Saposcat 06:07, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

PS: You don't object to my using the old script in addition to the new for the poem I quoted and translated in Haşim's article, do you?

The September 11, 2001 attacks edit

Hi this is from the September 11 page "The September 11, 2001 attacks (9/11 or September 11th) were a series of terrorist attacks on the morning of September 11th in the United States, which consequently resulted in the death of nearly 3,000 people." Can you please warn the users editing this page about wikipedia policies/rules regarding how 'terrorism' is to be treated. thanks --Hattusili 17:23, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have fixed it on the article and mentioned my modification on the articles talk page. It should be taken care of now. I would warn the user adding "terrorist" but I am not certain who that is. --Cool CatTalk|@ 18:43, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merhaba. edit

--Denix.
