Mairoon Ali edit

I just reviews and edited the Mairoon Ali article you created. it looks like a pretty good job, overall, particularly for your first edit to Wikipedia.

Some minor issues:

  • "She was also a History teacher, who retired from Holy Name Convent after 34 years." It would be nice to give the exact years she started and retired from teaching, in the careerer section if not in the lead paragraph.
  • The paragraph that begins "Ali was born Christina Bradshaw..." could use some cited references.
  • "over the past five to six years appeared at many local shows..." five years from now, the dates this refers to will be unclear. Even now they could be clearer. replacing this with the actual dates as accurately as possible would be an improvement.
  • the link http://repeatingislands.com/2009/12/22/trinidadian-actress-mairoon-ali-has-died/ appears not to work, at least for me. Can a better link be found, or at least enough info to retain the cite to a printed version of the article?

None of the above are major, but they should be corrected if possible.

I removed terms like "celebrated icon", "much celebrated actress", and "famous soca artiste". These are what Wikipedia calls peacock terms -- such terms implicitly express an opinion without citing it. Wikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view, not the POV of a fan or an opponent.

I hope this is helpful. DES (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
