Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Acroterion (talk) 03:52, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

To explain farther, please don't insert external links into the body of articles. Additionally, I've noticed a campaign to add links to the National Trust hotels project in other places on Wikipedia: I'm not totally opposed to the mention, but the links skew the effort towards advertising the program, which is itself a bit of marketing by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. I'm all for the National Trust, am a mostly-paid-up member, but Wikipedia doesn't accept advertising, no matter how worthy the cause. Acroterion (talk) 03:57, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Rather than inserting the URL, you should consider something along the lines of "Wentworth by the Sea is a member of Historic Hotel of America" and leave it at that. It'll need a reference, of course, but it's a lot more straightforward and not so spammy. Acroterion (talk) 04:13, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
