What can be done to build a foundational understanding for Roller Hockey as defined by the 1992 Olympic Games where it was a Demonstration Sport. The sport currently has many names worldwide.
Hello Hardballhock!
editYou have to accept that someone started to use the term roller hockey also about the game played with inline skates (nowadays called inline hockey). That's why "the original roller hockey" (rink hockey) has to be called rink hockey or hardball hockey in English to avoid the mess-up with inline hockey. Things would be different if the term inline hockey had been discovered already at the beginning of the new sport, but that didn't happen... So the term roller hockey means nowadays both rink hockey and inline hockey.
And what comes to the term hóquei em patins, it's Portuguese and doesn't have to be mentioned in English texts. In your logic you should then mention the name of the sport in all the languages that exist in the world. That's why we have Wikipedia also in many other languages.
Btw. Was the RHI (Roller Hockey International) a rink hockey league? No it wasn't, it was an inline hockey league.
