Josh Beames

Congratulations, Josh Beames is now an article.

As you'll see, I removed File:Calendar_-_2020.jpg from it. Presumably the copyright holder is Beames or his publisher. But you say that it's your "own work" and that you are "the copyright holder of this work". So: Are you Beames, or his publisher? Hi there. I'm not Josh Beames. My husband had purchased the product and I took a photo of it. If I've misunderstood how this works, I apologise and thank you for removing it. I had seen other wiki pages with photos of artworks - eg images of public sculptures - and figured the same rule would apply. HannahNimmo (talk) 04:01, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

It's an understandable mistake, and one that's commonly made. (As for the matter of images in -- or visible from -- public spaces, it's one of the "freedom [or not] of panorama". Let's not venture there right now....) As far as Wikipedia is concerned, the copyright of a straightforward photograph by person A of something that's copyrighted by person B itself belongs to person B. What I suggest that you do is go to your photo's page on Wikimedia Commons and (of course while you're logged in there) mark it with something like {{speedydelete|I'm the uploader. I now realize that my previous claim to be the copyright holder was mistaken.}}. (Of course, feel free to rephrase what comes after "speedydelete|" to your own taste.)

NB although we normally take a biographee's word for date of birth, which university they graduated from, etc -- I mean, unless such assertions are questioned by reasonable people -- we avoid taking their word for achievements. Thus we don't take a biographee's word for the names of clients worked for, awards won, exhibitions held, and the like. It's not that we think they're liars, it's just our responsibility to be sceptical. That's why I removed the reference citing a page on JB's website for his clients list. (I ignored the podcast. If that's of him talking, then that link too should be removed.)

Well, sorry for the perhaps sour-sounding notes above, but I hope to get the bad news out of the way at the start, so you'll have smooth sailing ahead. Proposed deletion of ATEBIT

The article ATEBIT has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unremarkable podcasting company with no apparent significant coverage. The claim of its "range of high-rated and critically acclaimed shows" cites a webpage from PAX Australia which doesn't seem to mention the claim. The claim that ATEBIT is "the first podcast network to host a panel at PAX Australia" is also sourced to PAX's website and doesn't help the podcasting company stand out from other Australian ones.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The citations have been updated to include references from media outlets including Sydney's City Hub and MCV's Trade Media. Agree with the critique of previous references, they were incomplete and misleading. Re: the profile image, I would suggest someone attending a photography workshop would be capable of taking a photo like the one uploaded here.

Regarding the news articles, some of those referenced are among the most trusted and popular news media outlets in Australia (Herald Sun, Fairfax Regional News etc). If there’s an issue with using photography websites that are profiling artists, I would prefer to see those queried or removed rather than the entire Wiki page.
