Speedy deletion nomination of Blank Studio Architecture

Hello Hamarek01,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Blank Studio Architecture for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

Hi Nz101. This is my first solo page and I appreciate the comments. I am hoping for some guidance before my page is deleted.

I understand the news release comment. I was modeling the tone off another page and I think I leaned to heavily in the second paragraph. I will work on this. I know I need to add links and I will do that as well.

The one question I had is the notability. I linked to several sources that are trade magazines for architecture and three books. What else do you suggest that I add to fulfill the notability clause? I compared my page to other architectural firms at the same level of work and I have three times the citations and I believe mine are more credible. (a lot of blogs) Any assistance is helpful.

On the notability front, I'd suggest finding some references from well known websites, or more from architectural institutes, etc. It's not usually the quantity of resources that counts, its the quality. The resources need to establish that the entity the page is about is notable and has done something/does something that makes it worthy of inclusion in the encyclopedia. I added references from the most well known arch magazines and blogs. I have also been developing the tone of the entry. I noticed it is still nominated for deletion. Do you have any suggestions on what I can add/subtract?

Architecture in Phoenix

Hi... I'm one of the editors who have sort of adopted the Phoenix page. Thanks for your recent edit. I think it will eventually be a valuable addition to the article. I see from your talk page, that you're very new, and want to encourage your involvement in Wikipedia (which you'll see abbreviated as WP or wp quite frequently). I'm not that old to the site myself, having begun to contribute this past January. However, being new enough to remember how I began, and yet old enough to see classic errors, might I offer you a few? First, whenever you make an edit, make sure you have a reference to back it up. You can find templates for adding citations at WP:CITE. Second, be very careful not to cut and paste, or even closely paraphrase other sources. If you quote another source, put it in quotations and include a footnote (you didn't do this on the Phoenix page, but I know - having done it myself - that it is a big no-no). You can find info on this topic at WP:PARAPHRASE. Third, don't take offense. WP is a very consensus-based arena. Your replies on your talk page show an indication to want to figure it out. Good job. If someone reverts something you do, and you feel its valid, revert their reversion. But if they revert it again, create a discussion on the talk page of the article.

Having said all that... and this could be my longest contribution on a talk page ... do you have any references to the information you included on the Phoenix page? That would really solidify your edit. Onel5969 (talk) 05:33, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for the incredibly helpful message. I reviewed the sites that you suggested and I found them to be great resources. I would appreciate your guidance on references for the Phoenix page. I see a lot of potential in a section on architecture. One of the reasons I was drawn to Wikipedia is I give lectures on architecture in the Valley, and people often ask where they can learn more, and there really isn't a lot of information out there collectively. Sure, there are for each individual studio, but besides one book I can think of, there isn't one place you could go to find out about the exciting works we have in town.

If you notice that I am doing something "wrong" or see a place I can improve please let me know. :)

No worries. And trust me if you're doing something either incorrectly, or formatted wrong, somebody will let you know. And sometimes it can be in a not-so-friendly fashion, but try not to take offense. There are a lot of folks who edit on Wikipedia (WP) without taking the time to learn how to reference, how not to paraphrase, etc. I'm sorry, but I'm not a huge architectural person, so I don't have a lot of resources, which is why I welcomed your contribution, since I think the city has a rich heritage in that area. When I'm researching an article, if I don't have resources at home, I hit the library. I also spend a ton of time on-line, "binging" the subject, and then following where that leads me. The more resources you can find, the better. For example, in the Economy section, I found a lot through the websites of the companies involved, after I found them referenced in online sources like US News, BusinessWeek, etc.

Couple of quick things - notice the colons I used to the left? Each one indicates an indent - which is why this paragraph is another indent in from the one above. Second is "ping". When you use the following format - @Username:, it will alert someone that you've mentioned them in a comment. You don't have to use it when you leave a message on a person's talk page, since they are automatically notified when you do that; same thing on your talk page, since they will usually "watch" a talk page where they've left a message. But I do it anyway, since sometimes they don't watch. So, if I hadn't been watching your talk page, I wouldn't have known you responded to me, unless you had used the ping with my username. Also, whenever you make an edit, it always helps to put a short description in the Edit Summary box (below) - like I did on this edit, "response". That way, when someone looks at their watchlist, or the history page of an article, they can quickly see what an editor did, without having to pull it up. One last thing, WP:MOS links to their manual of style. In the infobox is a search command, so if you are unsure how to do something, just go to the mos, and type in what you need help with, e.g. italics, sections, etc. Good luck and happy wiki-ing.
