Major overhaul

edit

I'm doing a major overhaul of the railway pages, including creating new pages for closed stations, etc. Examples include Steventon railway station. Also improving the existing pages, to include service details, platform details etc.

Any help or discussions would be much appreciated. New to the Wikipedia language, catching on fast.

P.S. I know exactly what a refernce is, i just don't know how to create one yet :( P.S. #2 Could someone tell me how to link and create pages in alterantive languages for example Cardiff Central in Welsh?

Good work, however two queries:-
  • Railway Line - you have added this, but it is not a displayed field or part of the syntax for the infobox. Also not sure if this is relevant as it appears in the route boxes at the bottom of the page. In the case of some terminus pages this list could be quite long.
  • Chronology, why are you moving the events fields above the number of passenger fields. I do not believe this adds any value, and incidentally is not in the same order as displayed.

Another two points:-
--Stewart (talk) 21:24, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the closed station information, i will bear in mind when creating or editing future information. I have come across a wealth of information which is way too confusing to be of use in the form that it is.
For the time being i am putting the chronology up as i find it. however i am creating a time line so for example may 6th 1968 the british railways board renamed in excess of 200 stations. i will add the stories once they become apparent ie stations opening on extensions of line (see kyle of lochalsh line - - opened in two stages).
The input about the info box is well received. i saw the railway line in a box somewhere, and added to the template i use. i had noticed it didnt appear, so played around but couldnt fix it. i kept it in in case i could fix it at later date, but as it seems to have no use i'll begin to remove them from the pages i've edited.
Also i agree on the chronology part, the templates can be quite confusing at times for me, so as again i'll begin to systematically change over to the "new" style.
I had at first started to go along the routes with the info ie didcot to newbury, didcot to swindon, when i began to plan ahead i got to south wales and got lost, so i then went to the idea of a grid system, finally settling on alphabetically.
Please bear in mind that with the "route" boxes i realise some of the stations wont have pages yet, if somebody hasnt beaten me to it i'll create them in near future. much thanks for your patienceHalowithhorns89 (talk) 15:57, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to butt in here, but I've noticed that you've been adding missing disused stations in the South East of England, here: [1] and here [2], for example. This is, in principle, a good idea, but only when you have sufficient information about the actual station in question. This means: at the minimum - opening and closing dates and its grid reference. Without this, I don't think there's any point in creating the page, leaving it open to deletion which could raise problems if someone is to re-create the page in future. Furthermore, if you do create pages, you should use the right templates. One is mentioned above - the "Infobox UK disused station" - the second is the "Disused Rail Start" which shows the route of the former line (going north to south). Please don't use the "Historical Rail Start" template for English stations, this is a US template which is not used down here. Finally, you should be adding in categories at the foot of every page, i.e. "Railway stations opened in... " and "Railway stations closed in... ". The category "Railway stations in [English county]" should not be used with closed stations, use instead "Closed railway stations in [county]". If you want an example of what a closed station article should look like see here: [3]. Thanks! Ravenseft (talk) 22:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not sure where the policy not to use {{Historical Rail Start}} and {{Historical Rail insert}} comes from. In general, it has been used on all the Scottish routes, and {{Disused Rail Start}} is not really appropriate when being used for a station that has been closed on a line that is still open. Is there any really pressing reason why {{Historical Rail Start}} can not be used on English stations? --Stewart (talk) 23:04, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just to add my own 2p, Template:Historical Rail Start is certainly not a US template: I created it originally by just changing Template:Disused Rail Start ever so slightly, much like I created Template:Infobox UK disused station by modifying Template:Infobox UK station. Infact the only difference between the two 'Start' templates is the word 'Historical' substituted for 'Disused', and as Stewart has mentioned the 'Disused' is a misnomer in a lot of cases. The Historical Rail Insert template is used on over 200 UK station articles, which are all a mixture of Scottish, Welsh and English stations.
So why say use Infobox UK disused station and not Historical Rail Start when they were both created for use (and are actively used) on the same articles? --Dreamer84 (talk) 01:17, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Right. Firstly, "historical" itself is a misnomer. What exactly is 'historical' about a railway which no longer exists? The term, I believe, is derived from the US - try a google search for "historical railroad" and you will find thousands of US sites. Try a search for "historical railway" and again you find US and Canadian sites. Secondly, the vast literature on this subject ALL use the term "disused" - see here for the key website in this area [4], see also Wolmar's recent book [5] and Hunter Davies' book [6]. More examples can be provided. Thirdly, "disused" is a far more apt term to describe these lines which were once in use but now only exist in parts or not at all; disused in the sense that they form parts of the railway network which no longer are used, not historical in terms of a memorable event or suchlike. Please stop using this template on English stations, and start start reverting to the "disused template", it's quite tiresome having to go through all these articles changing templates. Ravenseft (talk) 09:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Looks like it might be worth taking a consensus on it. Still don't quite understand why you keep referring to the Historical template as a 'US template' when in the context of Wikipedia (and outside literature aside) it is not linked to the US in any way and is not used on any US articles as far as I can see.
And doesn't the word "Historical" mean simply belonging to history, the past, whereas "Historic" refers to a memorable event in the past? --Dreamer84 (talk) 09:32, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think proceeding to a consensus would be the best way forward here. I should also add that I'm not 100% clear why you created a second disused route template when one already existed? I refer to it as a "US" creation because that's where I see this expression used. To add a fourth reason to my post above, Ordnance Survey maps refer to lines as "dismantled" or "disused", see for example grid reference ST545978 here [7]. Finally, the definition of "historical" is: "belonging to the past; of what is important or famous in the past; having once lived or existed or taken place in the real world as distinct from being legendary; used of the study of a phenomenon; relating to the study of history" see:[8]. It doesn't, as you see, describe the fact of closure of a line or station one bit as accurately, technically and as widely understood in this particular area as does the word "disused". Ravenseft (talk) 11:58, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
If memory serves me correctly, the Template:Historical Rail Start was developed during work on the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway. Some stations are still and others are closed, and most of the tracks are still open. It did not seem appropriate to use the "Disused Lines" titles, when the line (and station) were still open. Hence the term "Historical". --Stewart (talk) 12:31, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I believe Stewart is correct, that's when and why the template was created. "Disused" did not give enough scope on lines that were still open but with the occasional closed station. Take Irvine railway station for example. The two original stations on either side (Bogside and Gailes) are both closed, but Irvine is still open, as are several stations beyond going both directions. Surely to convey the information about the closed stations 'Disused railways' does not fit as the railway is not infact disused? The branch to Dreghorn is closed so would be classed as a 'Disused railway', but this would not apply for the main line. Another, broader word was needed to act as a title, so off the top of my head I chose 'historical', going by its definition in the Oxford Dictionary as merely belonging to history, and not knowing it was apparently a US-based term. Small italic notes were then added under each station in the template to distinguish between a closed line or merely a closed station. Maybe something different like 'Former Railways' or the like could have been used instead, but I still believe 'Disused Railways' does not provide enough scope. That was my original reasoning for creating the additional template. --Dreamer84 (talk) 13:39, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
The debate now continues here: [9]. Sorry to take up your user page with all this debate about what is relatively a trivial matter, but I think its important to be clear on this matter. Ravenseft (talk) 19:22, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh i don't mind, it's just that the matter is NOT clear.

I just want some simple answers. Firstly i used a route template inspired by the Far North Line in the Wick and Thurso regions. It showed stations that had been closed. I thought, why not import this idea south of the border, it's all one country. Now firstly, there doesn't appear to be a guide anywhere on what to use and where, and there is no point "correcting" the name of something if it shows the correct information on both examples. 1) i define a disused station as one that is no longer used. regardless of whether it has track through it. so Upton and Blewbury railway station and challow railway station , 2 articles that i started off myself, and which other users a=have so kindly benifitted and contributed to, i would regard as as disused. In fact i would say they were shut, but thats colloquial. challow has track (didcot to swindon) upton has no track. however, in both cases passengers cannot get an advertised train. so where is the argument there?

2), the routing template and station template were taken from other articles, as there isnt an "aisle" with lots of nice little templates. or a how to start editing guide. i literally had to use trial and error. if you look at Abbey and West Dereham railway station you will see what a mess it was when i started, but i kept going until it was fixed.

3)aber railway station was bare when the article first began. if it had been deleted it wouldn't have grown like it has. i was under the consenssus that this is an evolving encyclopedia.

4)could somebody please show me a nice little directory of all the categories that need to be placed?

5)the routing thing, im completely confused on. i've only ever come across one example before, so if somebody can give me 2 examples i'd be greatful. I just put whether the line was open or closed or not. i'm confused so please show me some examples

6)can somebody please tell me how i'd create an article in welsh or scottish or irish, and how i would create the relevant templates

7)where would i find articles with examples of the infobox station and routing box for use in the republic of ireland? as i noticed that the boxes have in them uk railway stations and i'd need something with RoI

8)like i said i've settled for the alphabetical route with putting information up, and all new articles or edited articles have chronology to reflect this. where would i find the grid reference? especially if the location is hard to pin down churn railway station

9)how would i put in a redirection page? so if for example someone typed bampton railway station, it would come up with brize norton and bampton (known for half its life as bampton) and bampton in devon. as in a)type bampton railway station, b)page comes up saying about do you mean this or this. see upton for an example

10)where do i find templates for the regional places? as in upton railway station has a liverpool regional style page, london has its zoning versions. again thanks for all the comments, not all were helpful as they still haven't answered some of the questions i have, but your time and effort is well recieved Halowithhorns89 (talk) 18:07, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reply to Questions

edit

I've just read all your questions above and will try and reply to them as best as I can:

  1. I don't want to re-open that debate again here, it was put to the forum and didn't generate much of a reaction except from those who expressed their opinions on your page. Probably a compromise situation would be best, those stations north of the border can be historical, those south can be disused. In any event, I'm not in favour of adding stations until there is a decent article on the line itself.
  2. There is a templates section here: [10] and most should have a brief guide. You can always post requests there for help on specific issues. Um, that Abbey and West Dereham railway station still isn't right. I don't know where it is or which line it was on or anything else except the fact that it existed at one time.
  3. Aber railway station, yes more like this please!
  4. There isn't a guide, perhaps there should be. The ones I mentioned originally above should be used, there are also special ones for Beeching closures and listed stations.
  5. Not sure what you're referring to here. Routeboxes you've been adding in, so I assume it's not that?
  6. You will have to log into the welsh, irish etc version of wikipedia and put the article in. Whether they have translated versions of the templates is another matter.
  7. I don't think the Irish wikipedia rail project is as advanced as the UK one. If you look at Drogheda railway station, there's only a standard routebox and no template.
  8. Difficult if you don't have reference materials about the line. You can try searching google and if you are lucky you'll find something. For Churn you were lucky: [11]. That's why I think it's better to start with stations in areas that you know or at least those for which you have materials.
  9. Redirection details are here: [12].
  10. Its just a question of adding in more details to the standard template. Everything you need to know is here: [13].

Hope that helps, Ravenseft (talk) 18:31, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help, always appreciated. Churn is local to me so i know it well, but even so, i decided for location to put it as nearest settlement, or if thats covered then area its in.

How easy is it to make a box for the Ireland wiki project? I'm quite happy to spear head it, as i've found maps showing all the old lines and stations, and information on when they opened and closed. So if you, or somebody you know could create it, or show me the tools to do so myself, it'd be amazingly thanked. Halowithhorns89 (talk) 18:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've never created a template myself, you're better off asking User:Dreamer84 as he seems to have contributed in this area. If you want to have a crack yourself, have a look at Help:A quick guide to templates then follow the links to the more complicated explanations. I guess one way to go about creating an Irish template would be just to put a copy of the UK one in your sandbox and then adapt it to Ireland, working on the basis of trial and error. Ravenseft (talk) 13:06, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
My advice pretty much matches Ravenseft: the best thing to do is to copy the template code into a sandbox and just experiment. Thats the way I learned to create Template:Infobox UK disused station from the existing Template:Infobox UK station. --Dreamer84 (talk) 17:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Template:Infobox Ireland station is finished its first stage, i'll do the disused one soon, but does anybody have any constructive criticism or objections to it? How would i find the rail portal for ireland? I've decided to use the UK templates for Northern Ireland, as they are already in force(and its UK).Halowithhorns89 (talk) 16:27, 20 February 2008 (UTC) I meant any objections before i use it? And any advice? if i change the template after installing it into pages, how do i change it on the pages? i'm not sure if it's automatic or not. as if i'm gonna put 200 new pages with all the line closures, stations etc, etc, be great if i dont need to edit each page.Reply

Theoretically i could create templates for the Irish Gaelic, i'd just have to replace the words :) quite excited nowHalowithhorns89 (talk) 16:50, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's a great start. I can't immediately see any way to improve it - probably have to wait until you have a few stations up and running. Before using it, however, you should post a message on Talk:Rail transport in Ireland inviting comments on the template, you might also suggest the setting up of a Wikiproject for Railways in Ireland. If you don't get a response, try directly on the Ireland Project page. It was agreed here that the UK railways project would not extend to Ireland. As for the automatic updating, I would say yes - Dreamer84 please contradict me if I'm wrong. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I've always wondered whether Ireland had its own Beeching. Ravenseft (talk) 16:58, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well it's early days so far with regards to Ireland, the books i'm using i'm having to look each station up in each one to make sure they match. But it does seem apparant that Ireland had a Grouping in early 1920s similar to the Big Four of the UK, and that they also had massive line closures during the 1960s, when over half the network closed down. I've not yet come across reasons why, but perhaps Other Wikipedians will know, once they see that its moving.

I agree that the Wikiprojects should be seperate, as the information for the whole of Ireland seems to be scarcer. As i'm relatively new to WikiPedia, but very passionate about what i'm doing, and learning quickly, any advice on how to organise a WikiProject? And how long should i wait before taking action, as in if i dont get response.Halowithhorns89 (talk) 17:10, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've just found what could be a useful website for you: [14], its like an online version of Butt's guide to railway stations, but for Ireland - if only the same thing existed for the UK! I don't see why you can't just post the message, maybe wait 1 day, and if there's no reply, begin rolling out your template. As for the Wikiproject, no doubt when you start adding your template and improving the Irish articles then you will come across the Irish contributors in the area. If there's sufficient interest, you could get together and form the project. You would propose your Wikiproject here. Ravenseft (talk) 17:54, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Photographs & Mapping

edit

How would i put in photographs and inserts from maps (with keeping the right side of copyright?)

I've been taking photographs of local railway stations, former railway stations, and proposed or under construction also. How would i upload them, and what do i need?

Photographs that you've taken yourself can go directly into the Commons, here:[15]. Make sure you give each image a proper file name, e.g. xxx railway station, not image01234 etc, and add a tag such as "Category:Railway stations in Hampshire" or "Category:Disused railway stations in England". I'll keep an eye out for your uploads and see if they're ok. Maps are a bit more complicated, I've only ever seen old maps (i.e. 70+ yrs old) being used - see Maiden Lane. I don't think you would get away with an excerpt from a recent map. You would then upload your map extract to the Commons and use an expired copyright tag - see the old postcard I uploaded for Steyning. Ravenseft (talk) 07:45, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Template:Infobox Ireland station

edit

Hey, think I've fixed the problem, there was a '}' missing from the end of the template code so it wasn't closing itself off, which is why the lower template managed to work its way in. --Dreamer84 (talk) 21:05, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ireland project well on it's way!!!

edit

The Ireland project is well on it's way, i've decided to put Great Britain, Isle of Man etc on hold, as there are significant contributors, especially in Scotland.

All pages have been marked as Ireland as opposed to Republic of Ireland, for 2 reasons, 1) it was one system, so only fair to cross the border. I'm using the geographic island of Ireland, rather than any political entity.

List of closed railway stations in Ireland: A I created this page, and am only putting stations up and and when a page has been created, this should be fairly swift though, and i need to clarify a few things before posting (some stations had multiple names at once, and other stations i have no location for, simply a name, which isn't enough to warrant an article that won't get deleted.

Category:Disused railway stations in Ireland Also covers Northern Ireland Template:Infobox Ireland disused station This was only meant to cover the Republic at first, as i'd want to discuss and agree with the local editors on whether it would be accepted to use, however, i've noticed that in the list of closed uk stations, northern ireland is completely omitted.

Soon there should be enough to ask for WikiProject status

On my user page are empty infoboxes, which will have all fields filled in, just go to edit, copy, paste, and fill it in.Halowithhorns89 (talk) 15:55, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am just thinking that maybe a list of closed railway stations in Ireland should be created and only when it gets too loarge, then split it off into A B C D E etc. Simply south (talk) 20:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I do see where you are coming from, but i've identified 74 disused stations beginning with A, a huge 211 beginning with B ( including an extra 8 Belfast stations, i'm still on c at the moment, i just haven't created the pages for them yet). Please have patience while i get this up and running. Halowithhorns89 (talk) 16:58, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{Ireland-railstation-stub}}

edit

Hi - I see you have recently created one or more new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 01:26, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

So, I see you accepted my offer. Well, thanks! Anyway, here's my tips.

  • March 31, 2008:
  1. You know what vandalism is, right? Well, it's bad. If you don't know what it is, it's usually IP addresses going into Wikipedia and changing things that are good. Well, try to stop vandals and if they do get past the strong wall of vandal resistance, undo their edits.
  2. You graduate from the adoption program when you feel ready for editing on your own.
  3. Work on your spelling! From your message to me on my talk page, I think you need to SpellCheck more often.

More tips, mate!

  • A good way to undo vandalism (and get more edits fast) is: Go to the recent changes and look for an IP address (a username all made from numbers-that person has not made an official account). Click on that page. Click on history. There should be an IP address (the one you saw in the recent changes). Click "compare selected versions". And when it shows up, there should be vandalism in the screen. Click undo and change what the vandalism is to what it used to be.
  • Wanna make a good signature like mine? One that you did yourself? Go to: Wikipedia:Smurrayinchester's signature tutorial and start it!

More tips again!

  • Rollbacks are users who use a special tool to revert vandalism quicker.
  • Sysops are users who can block users, delete, protect, and un-protect pages, and make other users rollbacks. They can also rollback.
  • Bureacrats are users who can do the same things as sysops, but, in addition, they can make other users bots, sysops, and other bureacrats.
  • Excuse me, take back my "good way to revert vandalism" from your mind. It isn't totally true.-- Barkjo 02:22, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disused Station Articles

edit

Hi

I've noticed that you started the articles for the closed railway stations on the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway. I have recently created a new article to encompass all of the closed stations on this railway. It is generally good practice, instead of creating a large number of stubs that are unlikely to ever be expanded because they were never well known, to group these stubs into a single article. If you would like to add anything to the article for this line it is here.Grizzlyqi (talk) 21:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lists of closed railway stations in Ireland

edit

Hi

I noticed that you have been creating lists in the of closed Irish stations (List of closed railway stations in Ireland: D, List of closed railway stations in Ireland: G etc). I don't know how many such stations there are, but I imagine that there must be many hundreds of them, so it's a big job that you have taken on.

I'd love to see such a list if it was reasonably complete, but I do wonder whether a few start-lists are much use ... so I just thought I'd ask whether you reckoned you would at some stage be able to complete the job, or at least get the lists sufficiently advanced that they would include a useful proportion of stations?

Please don't take this as a criticism of your good work. I'm just wondering if this isn't perhaps rather big bite, and I'll be delighted to find I'm being too pessimistic :) --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply on my talk. I have replied there, to keep the discussion in one place, but just wanted to drop you a note here so that you are aware of my reply ... which basically says all sorted, good luck! :) --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:23, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Some tweaking

edit

I hope that you will forgive me for being bold and doing some major tweaks to your good work.

I thought that it might be useful also to have combined List of closed railway stations in Ireland, so I went ahead and created it. It's not a copy of the lists by letter-of-the-alphabet; what it does is to transclude them (as if they were templates). That way both approaches are available: a combined list for those who want that, and separate lists for those who find them more convenient. A little bit of tweaking of the individual lists was required to achieve this: <noinclude> and </noinclude> tags have been needed to ensure that the headers aren't included each time, but I'm sure you already know about that.

While I was at it, I also took the liberty of creating a column for "County", and I also made the columns sortable, which I think makes lists much more useful.

I hope all this is OK with you -- I'm just trying to build a little on your good work, not to undermine or impede it, so please do let me know if I have caused any problems.

Best wishes, --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:52, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow! the county thing i like a lot, and the sorting buttons like on excel are VERY helpful, if they wanna search for a specific company, or stations closed in the 1930s. I have no idea how to do any of that, i have to see an example and work from that. now, as they are "templates" does that mean that adding to the templates would make the full list updated? Halowithhorns89 (talk) 17:31, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, just edit the individual articles and it will pop up in the combined list, like a template does. (The change may not appear immediately, depending on how busy the server is).
Anyway, glad you like it :) --20:07, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Template:Coleraine-Portrush branch line

edit

You may have opened the usual can of worms by making that categorising that as an Ireland railway lines template, rather than a UK one. Might I suggest you also categorise it as a UK railway to head that argument off before it starts? You might also want to consider using the UK header on the Lisburn-Antrim line template for consistency with the other NI rail templates. --Blowdart | talk 11:58, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations

edit

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal was to gather feedback to help design a tool that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

We are particularly interested in feedback from new editors! We want to make sure this tool meets your needs.

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 22:58, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The odd church is the New Testament Church of God in Upper Chorlton Road (corner of Stamford Street) whose congregation is mainly of West Indian origin. It is certainly a much older building and was no doubt a Nonconformist chapel when built. Possibly the spire became unsafe and removal of the upper part was cheaper than repairing it. Spire as the name of the hospital is a very recent change; it was formerly the BUPA Hospital and earlier still St Joseph's.--Felix folio secundus 05:44, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
