January 2014 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Devotion (Anberlin album). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. You removed the citation needed template from the genres in the infobox. Since the article does not discuss the album's style, a reference has to be supplied there. Alternately, you could find discussions about the album's style and add a new section to the article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:34, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

All articles must meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines edit

You may start at this guideline, but you're most likely interested in the music-related guidelines. As you can see, I have nominated the two articles you created to individual releases already. I should have just redirected them back to the album's article, but we'll see what the AfD decides. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:46, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! edit

Thanks for helping me out with Devotion, Walter Görlitz I'm new to this so don't know what's good and what's bad yet. Sorry about the various Anberlin singles pages I created, thought I would try for continuity, but if you want them gone that's fine. :) HalfH3ro (talk) 22:43, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's all good. I don't want to step on your toes and you seem to be a fast study so I'll speak on behalf of the album's project and welcome you to Wikipedia! Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:46, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Walter Görlitz would you be able to put the album art on the Devotion page? I don't think I can do it myself. HalfH3ro (talk) 23:03, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Since it's easy and my goal is to make you self-sufficient as quickly as possible, let's see if I can walk you through it. It's explained at Help:Files.
First, have an image that isn't too large. 300 pixels square is the usual maximum allowable size. Make sure you note where you grabbed the file. You'll need that for later.
Second, do you think other projects will need this or just the English Wikipedia?
If you think other languages could use it, you should upload it to the Wiki Commons, but if you think it's only useful on the English site, upload it here.
To upload to commons, follow this link
To upload here, follow this link, and there's a link to it on the left side.
Then, just follow the "fair use" rationale, also known as "Non-free media information and use" rationale listed at File:AnberlinBlueprintsfortheBlackMarket.jpg this image.
If you mess-up, just drop my name here and I'll see if I can help. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:14, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I thought commons was for user created images, not images from the internet, album or dvd art, etc. And I can't do the upload because the page says "Your account has not been confirmed yet" Walter Görlitz HalfH3ro (talk) 23:22, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I stand corrected, "Keep in mind that it is not permitted to upload fair use images into Wikimedia Commons". Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:28, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Emer Kenny Picture.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Emer Kenny Picture.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 08:52, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
