Image copyright problem with Image:MaynardJamesK.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MaynardJamesK.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 22:13, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for getting back to me with the source info. Since this photograph came from a person's personal myspace page it is impossible to determine where the photograph was taken or who was the photographer. It is likely a copyrighted concert photo found elsewhere on the internet. Because there is no proof of free-use copyright status, and because the use of an unsourced copyrighted image of a living person goes against Wikipedia fair use criteria, this image will be deleted soon. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 04:22, 17 December 2006 (UTC) (BTW, you can automatically generate a signature and timestamp by adding four tildes (~~~~) after your message)Reply

Margera edit

Hi, I didn't quite understand your addition to Vincent Margera. If the line was just your opinion or observation it might not be consistent with inclusion in an encyclopedia. There's a fine line but reporting facts (e.g. his lazy eye} is OK, making observations about his perceived sense of humour is a little different. Please contact me if there's anything you would like to talk about. Cheers, Deizio talk 13:26, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd say leave it out without a reference.. Vito has proved problematic to find good sourced information about, apart from his arrest. If you find anything on the web from a reliable source to back up facts or info about Vito I'll be happy to help format it into the piece. Cheers, Deizio talk 16:14, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
