Your creation of the article for the "Dorr Shell" is quite an interesting idea. However, neither the article, nor its inclusion in the Dyson Sphere article are referenced. Could you provide a referenced origin for this idea so that we can show it isn't original research please? - Vedexent (talk) - 16:04, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
This idea was proposed at an amateur sci-fi club meeting in Muscat, Oman by Adam Dorr. We did some checking and it looks like Dorr was the creator of the idea, though that may yet be disproved if any prior source emerges. For the time being, I can add the informal lecture as a source, but I don't think the idea is otherwise published. I'll check on it though - maybe it's in a story or something. - Hadamhiram
- Please do add that source, because right now people basically don't believe you at all, and also comment on the talk page. Else it may go bye-bye. theanphibian 04:01, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I"m not sure that citing this as a reference is valid. Unpublished ideas are not typically accepted, period. Just because a concept isn't your unpublished original research doesn't make it not original research - it just makes it original research by Adam Dorr. See WP:OR, which explicitly states:
- Original research (OR) is a term used in Wikipedia to refer to unpublished facts, arguments, concepts, statements, or theories. The term also applies to any unpublished analysis or synthesis of published material that appears to advance a position — or, in the words of Wikipedia's co-founder Jimmy Wales, would amount to a "novel narrative or historical interpretation."
- This would seem to fall under the heading of an "unpublished concept", unless it is published in a story. If it is not published in a story or article then it seems to be OR. If it is published in an article or story it is not a Dorr sphere, but belongs to someone else (unless Adam Dorr managed/magages to get the concept published himself). - Vedexent (talk) - 06:17, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
