Live Cd re-mastering

I had a question about using Reconstructor and modifying the things loaded when booting. I have been working on my own project. Now what i like most about the live CD called Ophcrack its it's simplicity, on all the computer i have used it on it just worked. Now this does not mean that it always got the password but it always functions as expected. The goal of my project is to produce something similar but with attack WEP wifi networks. The reason i am posing this on your talk page is that i noticed your familiarity with Super OS and i was hoping you could help me. What i wanted to do was to place my 2 bash scripts in to the /bin/ folder and remove everything from ubuntu that was not necessary for my program to run (including the X environment, and Aircrack-ng suit) . But I'd like to leave in it's ability to function with most wifi cards out there. Now i am not that experienced with programing, in fact the 2 scripts on my talkpage are the largest programs i have built to date (if you exclude the games i build in flash), but i do like programming a lot. Hi, first of all let me tell you what kind of hacker I am. I am not familiar with "black hat hacking". Regarding the Live CD, I think the best way is to either use a .desktop file, just make a .desktop file pointing to your file, and place it at ~/.config/autostart and /etc/skel/.config/autostart (the skel dir, so that new users have it).

Other way is to use init.d, create a file similar to this:

     INSERT HERE COMMANDS TO RUN
    ;;

    #INSERT COMMANDS HERE IF YOU WANT
    ;;
  *)
    echo "Usage: /etc/init.d/cracker {start|stop}"
    exit 1
    ;;
esac

exit 0

• Place it in /etc/init.d (I will use the name of the script: "cracker")
• Now to active it on startup just run update-rc.d cracker (cracker is the name of script you use, you can off course use another)

Heres an update; I have been playing around with remaster, i now know how to use it's ability to 'boot' the cd and allow me to modify it from it's xserver, The only problem that i am running in to now is that i dont know what packages are save to remove.. I have broken the live cd by removing too many packages but if i dont remove enough it stays above 500MB. If you know of any webpages that would help please feel free to point them out to me. I have no experience removing packages, all I can recommend is something like "ubuntu mini remix" Hacktolive (talk) 13:29, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
