You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Jackmcbarn (talk) 00:37, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for updating username request Jackmcbarn (talk) - I have questions and wonder if you can help ? Shall I write Q's here as I've been blocked and can't seem to write anywhere elseHPPlotter (talk) 01:00, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, please ask them here. Jackmcbarn (talk) 01:05, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm keen to impart knowledge about HP Designjets on Wiki but a lot of what I've written is on my website which is both commercial as well as a primary source of useful info i.e. it's teaming with things to help Designjet users such as providing info on what is a plotter, discussing various Designjet technology, info about media, the natural upgrade path of an old printer to a current model etc...etc... I'm trying hard to understand how it works with Conflict of interest. I really wish to contribute in the spirit of contributing ....the other day I rewrote the HP Designjet list on Wiki showing older models not listed as well as newer/latest models unlisted and then sorted them between old and current models. I'm just a bit wary why my homepage of HPPlotter has been deleted - which contained useful links to my website where people could obtain free user manuals for the printers, or understand the natural upgrade path to their printer, or understand the current memory in their printer and if it could be upgraded or not (and if so, to what)...etc... How do you recommend I proceed? Jackmcbarn Also Jack, if they change my user name which I cross checked isn't being used by anyone at the moment on Wiki, will all of my contributions naturally just be amended to show PlotterFairy as the contributor? and finally, if I want to cite my website as a reference site where it specifically covers useful things relating to a particular subject matter should I go ahead if it adds value (I've already done this a few times now) or must I refrain from doing this even though it adds value?

If your username gets changed, then all of your old edits will be re-attributed to your new name. You shouldn't link your own Web site from any article yourself. If you think it should be linked, then put {{request edit}} on the article's talk page, followed by an explanation of where the link should be added and why you think it adds value. Jackmcbarn (talk) 01:30, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you're okay with all of that, let me know and I'll unblock you. Jackmcbarn (talk) 01:36, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Jackmcbarn Thanks Jack - I'm fine with all of that. Appreciate your help/advice :-)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:HPPlotter

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:HPPlotter, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:27, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Hewlett-Packard products, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PSC. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Help me!

edit

Hi there! Please help me --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) ....re your comment about Tests with Computer Memory. I haven't contributed to Wiki for a month and I'm not familiar enough with it all to work out whether someone has hacked my username as it appears you've deleted comments made by 'me' today? (only ...I've not made any comments today) Please can you confirm when you think I added something and what it was as I couldn't see my user name for anything other than something today?

Just realised I can check my history of changes and there are definitely changes PlotterFairy has made today but it wasn't me. I've now changed my password ...it appears I've been hacked which is worrying - does that happen often on Wiki? :-(

PlotterFairy (talk) 00:15, 19 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello PlotterFairy, You can see the result of the five edits made with your username here. It's nothing too serious, looks like some one doing tests. It is noted that you did not do them. My advice would be to change any other passwords as a precaution. Good luck.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 12:28, 19 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Password hacking

edit

HI there PlotterFairy (talk) 00:15, 19 December 2014 (UTC). I ended up here for your {{Help me}} template that you have posted on this page. Password hacking can happen everywhere, not just on wiki. I hope that I have been helpful. Please have a nice weekend.   M aurice  09:04, 19 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
