Study Invitation edit

Hey @HMSLavender, thanks for patrolling edits and reverting vandalism! I wonder if you are interested in our ongoing study for recent change patrollers. The study aims to evaluate AI models that power recent change filters, Huggle, SWViewer, and many other anti-vandal tools. Your feedback can be really helpful! If you're interested, please check out our recruitment page for more information. Thank you for your consideration! Tzusheng (talk) 01:35, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Open Source "Movement" edit

Hi,

I was pointed by a colleague to such page and I was reading it through. It seems to be incorrect in several places, even regarding open source as movement, because the open source doesn't identify itself as movement.

I checked the sources listed, most of them don't exist anymore and can't be retrieved.

But before I proposed such change, I would like to check with you. What is your opinion to change this and write about it using current references from OSI (Open Source Initiative)?

About Mana edit

Hello. I can't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, because I just used sites about Japanese names and there was Mana's full name, which was named somewhere in interviews of Malice Mizer on video. There are no other names like this, so, Mana is short name from that full name. And meanings of his name were not only that were written in his biography, because biography writes "cool" translations in gothic style. And if you know, their hyeroglyphes can be read different and in childhood, of course, his name was not translated as "devil's name"!!!!

I just read dictionary of names, the meanings of japanese names. I can just find some of those sites with description of the name. But I didn't have this informationm now, I didn't save what you have erased - so, please, if you will put it back, I will give a link to the list of japaneae names with their meanings, but I can't find those videos or articles - they were so many, that I can't remember, but people in internet saw this too and discussed on some sites. 62.192.238.218 (talk) 06:28, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

The edit that you made is here - if you can provide a link to either the video or the list article, they should be fine even if they are primary sources, as long as they are used to make simple statments of fact. You will need to cite the link before re-adding your additions. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 16:10, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

IP creating unfounded edits edit

Hello, I wanted to ask you about the IP of 74.73.80.131, since you're a little familiar with them and I'm asking for advice. I noticed they just made unfounded edits on some music articles, being grunge, "Touch Me I'm Sick", and baroque pop, changing the names of the genres without any foundation or discussion. They're now all reverted, but looking into their IP made me learn that not only have they continuously made such edits before (nearly all reverted, to my knowledge), but they never responded to any messages on their talk page, and likely never will. I'm thinking of either a warning or a block to issue them. What should I do? Carlinal (talk) 01:19, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don't think a block is necessary yet since I'm not sure if the IP is static or dynamic - the standard uw escalations up to a block should be enough for now. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 02:07, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

You made a mistake edit

I would like you to keep my changes please 2607:FEA8:F424:BB00:D5CE:9F78:2BAF:BB26 (talk) 03:35, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Then please provide a source; you cannot provide such a claim if they are not backed by any sources that verifies it. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 03:37, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Question about removal edit

Hi, you reverted a change I made to the Rachel M Brownstein because I didn't add the source, but what happened was I double checked the source and saw that books were being listed as done by the publisher of the second edition, rather then the original publisher. How should I cite this change so that it can stay? Veluciraptor (talk) 17:18, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

The part that I reverted was the one where you changed her place of birth to a different borough (Queens -> Manhattan), which needs to come with a reliable source to verify such a change. You may find this to be useful to get started on referencing. Feel free, however, to restore the changes to the books listed. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 03:09, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Rewrite of the Construction Photography page edit

The current Construction Photography page is spam. The page is written like an advertisement. I've attempted to re-write it for the genre of Construction Photography. The current page has references that are broken, forwarded to other stock image sites, and is not a page about actual construction photography. Please review the latest addition and help make it better. It was removed and a discussion is needed on this page. Thanks. 71.224.205.150 (talk) 18:11, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:44, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to let you known that a number of references are no longer valid because the web page doesn't exist anymore. Emporis also closed down in September of 2022. However it did list the Epic Center as 320 feet to the top floor and 385 feet to the tip of the iconic roof. A good comparison would be to go to Google Earth and look at Albuquerque Plaza in New Mexico and compare it with the Epic Center. You will notice that the Epic Center is certainly taller. Albuquerque is 351 feet and the Epic Center is 385 feet. . 2600:8803:7:9300:795C:7DDE:964F:9CE8 (talk) 02:18, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Right, but what I wanted to point out was that the SkyscraperCity sources you provided may not be reliable per the discussion that I linked and that you might be better off looking for other, more reliable sources. I do not dispute the other aspects of your edits. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 02:21, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Keisha Buchanan EDIT edit

Hi, please check this video around the 2 minute to 2.05 minute mark where she shows her plane ticket clearly stating her BIRTH name is spelled Kiesha and not Keisha.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6gCa4w9woI 81.104.122.248 (talk) 18:19, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

YouTube is OK as a primary source - although I would advise looking for additional, more reliable sources such as interviews in news outlets. The problem that I have is that a different spelling alone is not enough to prove that Kiesha is her birth name. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 02:49, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I understand that, however you cannot board a flight if the ticket is not in the name that matches your passport. Your passport has your birth name on it. Also in that same video her own mother made her a cake that spells her name Kiesha. I'm trying to find an interview where she talks about it, but she doesn't spell her name out often or even talk about it?
Here is her birth registry also. https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?scan=1&r=272848720:5744&d=bmd_1700485213 81.104.122.248 (talk) 03:41, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, now we're getting somewhere. I think this is a better source IMO. If you need help citing a source, see this guide. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 12:55, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

David Gilbert edit

David Gilbert was a terrorist member of the radical terror network called the Weatherman Underground. The Weathermen, full of rich red diaper babies, like the monopolist Ayers family, engaged in a series of bombings, robberies, and other violent acts including attempting to bomb a ROTC dance and bombing government buildings. Objectively, they were terrorists. They killed for an ideology. Any attempt to frame them as mere "radicals" or whatever is disgusting and dishonors the fallen officers. 2603:9000:E700:6050:3458:A1F9:6B05:723A (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 05:37, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please consider earlier discussion threads on the matter here. You are welcome to start a new discussion on whether or not he should be primarily considered a terrorist or an activist, but please note that Wikipedia articles are written from a neutral perspective; our articles are not meant to heavily favour certain points of view. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 05:48, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
