Great start edit

Hi, User:HBov, and welcome to our project. You have some interesting ideas for article edits. Juvenile delinquency is already pretty extensive, but your ideas to work on youth and music has much potential. Can you be more specific about what you might like to explore? Poke around Wikipedia and see what articles are out there to consider. The West Des Moines Restorative Justice Project would also be good.Cheers!Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 04:39, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Music and Youth edit

Hannah, I really am intrigued by your topic of influences of music on youth. Another way you could explore this topic is how children who became famous early on because of their musical talents experienced their youth! I know Jonny Carson hosted many children who were musically gifted during his time on The Tonight Show. What influences did he have on their careers I wonder?

Hi Hannah! I think your music hybridity idea is a great one! I feel that music plays an important role in the lives of young people and that it would be interesting to see how music, time, place, and youth interact. An article on youth justice also sounds interesting. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do! Beckalinageorge (talk) 18:04, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your proposal edit

Hi, HBov,

I am wondering whether a new section on "globality" would fit into the youth subculture article? Another idea is to work within the Music genre article, which needs a great deal of work and is already labeled as lacking a worldwide view of the subject. What do you think?

I do not yet have a sense of sources you have found on the topic. I look forward to reading the bibliography. As you post sources, please write a bit about what each source says and how it contributes to your potential revisions. What do you have, and what are you still looking for? Ideally, you could also inform a reader how the sources you end up with will shape the revision plans you mention in your proposal. Cheers, Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 02:36, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

Hi, HBov - You have located quality scholarly sources that describe examples of the phenomenon you are interested in. Please locate theory on youth and hybridity (the references cited in Furlong would be good) to help develop the content of your edits. Some pieces of what's coming up:

  • Locating doi numbers for all journal articles (you're almost there) and correctly format them for Wikipedia. You can do this as part of your article revisions in your sandbox.
  • Creating a reference page and correct formatting of references in your sandbox.
  • Writing your first draft of article revision. I would love for you to get to as close to 2000 words as possible in your first draft, as you are already well on your way in terms of research.
