DYK edit

I saw your note at LauraHale's page and I'm pretty sure she won't mind my answering your question, since there's a time factor. I would say go ahead and nominate the article. You can put a statement in the comment section about why you missed the deadline. It will then be up to whoever reviews it - it can't hurt to nominate it, sometimes the reviewer is lenient, especially if it passes in all other respects. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:11, 19 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Follow the instructions here. In the Comment field, explain why you are nominating it late. (Probably because you are new or because you were offline for a few days???) You only need to propose one hook (one question presenting an interesting fact that is in teh article with a reference at that sentence). An ellipsis means ... - the ... at the end of the hook doesn't count toward the 200-character maximum length. Hope that makes it clearer. Yngvadottir (talk) 04:56, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I filled in a couple of things you hadn't, and transcluded it so that people can see it. Somebody will come by and review it; watchlist that nomination page if you haven't already. --Yngvadottir (talk) 12:08, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Aww, thanks for the cookies :-) The second hook would have been better added underneath, where it says "make first comment here", with ALT1 in front of it - but don't worry, those are just conventions. There's no way of knowing when it will get reviewed - some of mine have languished for weeks while others got reviewed by the time I got back from work. The most useful thing you can do now is make sure you haven't copied any wording without using quote marks, and that you've given a reference on all important points, including one on the sentence for each of the two hook facts. Those are things the reviewer will check. And of course if you come across any more sources you want to use, go ahead and continue improving it. Otherwise - see what the reviewer says :-) --Yngvadottir (talk) 12:52, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Greetings. Sufficient changes have been made for the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Job_attitude for it to be reconsidered for a DYK nomination as instructed by your recommendations. Kindly check and reconsider. Thank you. Khyati Gupta (talk) 20:27, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Good. I won't be able to look at it closely for several hours (going afk soon after finishing my current task), but the reviewer, LauraHale, may be able to do so sooner. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:38, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Sorry it took me so long, but I took a good look at the article and then edited it to make it clearer and more encyclopedically focused. I cut back the characterizations of research studies, which may help with the issue of its reading like an essay that the reviewer has identified; but she has also made specific points, and I just did a general read-through and reworking. Also, please re-jigger things where I misinterpreted what was meant. This is not a topic where I know much of the jargon, and I could only see the abstracts of the sources I would have liked to examine. But I hope that helps a little. Yngvadottir (talk) 07:13, 25 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hey. No worries. I appreciate all of your help. I am currently working on another article of which the draft is due within 3 hours. So after I take care of that, I will sit down and look into fixing this article as soon as possible. Thanks! Khyati Gupta (talk) 15:08, 25 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re: your message on my talkpage: You're welcome, and I quite understand about time pressure (especially in summer courses), but it may not take as much time and effort as you think, especially if you call in some classmates to help. (Your classmates understand the jargon a lot better than I do, and like you, have access to subscription-required refs that neither I nor LauraHale can see.) Collaboration is central to Wikipedia, remember. So I hope you find time before the course ends, but if you don't, work on it when you do have time :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 18:14, 28 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I looked at this article to see if I could help out, and I notice a lot of key points are cited to "Riskind, John; Black, David. Cognitive Vulnerability" (footnote 1). I'd like to track this source down since I wonder what you mean by wording like "scheme for", and since I'd like to help eliminate the close paraphrasing issues that have been raised at the DYK nomination template, but that's clearly an incomplete citation. You have used the "cite journal" template, so I assume it's an article rather than a book. Is it this one? This one also seems apposite but has the wrong co-author. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:39, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, Google won't let me see that. What's the full article title, and which journal is it in? Also, what's the wording in the original for the "scheme" passage? Would "causes a predisposition to", "ultimately leads to" or "is one of the causes of" be a fair paraphrase? --Yngvadottir (talk) 13:00, 9 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Good, that enabled me to find it on GoogleBooks: here. (A friend was able to see your links and we were just talking about it in chat.) Please fill out the reference using {{cite encyclopedia}} - citation templates are all here. I'll muck around with the wording of what's sourced to that reference when I next have a chance - probably tonight if it's dead at work like it was last night, but I make no promises since after all, they don't pay me to edit Wikipedia - or hopefully someone else will. Don't lose hope, let's see what we can do :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 18:32, 9 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry I didn't have a long enough chunk of time to get to this yet. Letting you know I hope to do so after I get home and put out any fires - in 3-4 hours. --Yngvadottir (talk) 13:18, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've now done some pretty extensive editing, partly in the hopes that it will not look to people as if it's echoing the sources, and partly to reduce the jargon. However, I know next to nothing about the field, so please, please feel free to re-change things if I have been inaccurate. Yngvadottir (talk) 19:41, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
The nomination now has a purple check (which is sufficient) for the hook so it looks as if someone else reviewed it before I signed on today. Congratulations, it looks like it is finally through the process. Donner60 (talk) 21:51, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes. But I am not an administrator. I only do the first review on DYK nominations from time to time. They always get to them because they want to be sure there is final action on every nomination for a particular day. Then they can delete that day from the list. Otherwise it stays on the list and begins to stand out as unfinished business. Donner60 (talk) 21:58, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

There is getting to be more and more things to check at DYK: right person credited, link in hook actually points to the page, hook is not totally stupid, image is appropriate, article is actually referenced as claimed by reviewer, hook is referenced as claimed by reviewer, copyright infringement of image or text. Your edits edit

Hi Guptakhy. I don't want to offend you, but essentially all of the edits you are making to neuroscience articles are either incorrect or impossible to understand. You are taking material from the "Understanding Emotions" book, but it is clear that you don't really understand what you are writing. I don't want to get into a fight with you, but all of that material will need to be removed. Looie496 (talk) 21:02, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Social Processing in the Limbic System edit

I in advance apologize if this is not the correct procedure.

You seem to be the last person to edit the limbic system section on social processing. There is a sentence that begins "A man named Rule," This phrasing is odd and particularly jarring in a section on Social Processing. It gives the impression that the author is trying to make a point or joke -- perhaps playing off the fact that a researcher of social rules is named Rule. However, its not exactly clear what the point or joke is, which is why its jarring.

I don't know if this feedback is helpful or if this is how I should do it, but I thought someone might like to know.

Thanks for your time, 99.127.41.211 (talk) 17:19, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
