Role-playing pioneers

Do you think it would be a good idea to make another stab at getting Gary Gygax up to Featured Article status? We tried that a couple of years ago (see talk page) but it didn't work out so well. I think the article is in better shape now, which is why I requested that copy-edit.

The only thing is, on a FAC page other editors will rip into the sources they find in the article, and they will let you know when they find your sources to be lacking.  ;) We're going to need to solidify the reasonsing for using the ENWorld threads, because without that I could foresee a quick run of "opposes" coming from people. Didn't we at some point go to the reliable sources noticeboard and get them approved? If so, I think we need to link to that and explain ahead of time. BOZ (talk) 17:24, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

We did seek approval via WP:RSN in order to use that sourcing for the article on Greyhawk. The Greyhawk talk page says: "An important source of information about the early days of D&D are the archives of the Q&A forum at ENWorld hosted by Gary Gygax between 2002 and his death in March 2008. In this forum, Gygax used the handle Col Pladoh, as he confirmed in an interview in 2003: "Q. What online forums do you frequent regularly? Gygax: I hit EN World as Col_Pladoh. I also post a lot on the www.lejendary.com boards, and on the MSN Lejendary Adventure Community, and www.dragonsfoot.org ones about once a week." (edited transcript at http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/03/04/dungeons-dragons-cre.html, complete interview archived at http://web.archive.org/web/20031204163509/www.kcgeek.com/archives/interviews/mordenkainens_fantastic_interview/031302.html). This has been judged at WP:RSN to be a valid recognition that Gygax and "Col Pladoh" were the same person."
Someone would also have to take stab at reconciling timelines. In one paragraph, he's moving back from Chicago to Lake Geneva in 1967. Several paragraphs later, he's already in Lake Geneva and forming a miniatures club in 1966. Similarly, the article currently states that he left TSR on Dec 31, 1985, and founded New Infinities in Oct 86, but several sentences later, he didn't give up his TSR posts until October 1986. Guinness323 (talk) 17:37, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
That's what I figured - I thought you or someone had gone to get approval that these threads were valid to use as sources. So then, when (not if) this one goes to FAC, we'll need to disclose that up front to (hopefully) keep the hordes of people from going "you can't use message boards as a source!!!" and piling on "oppose" votes. I see what you mean about the timelines; an examinination of the sources should help to sort that out. BOZ (talk) 21:56, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Game designers

Do you have any sources that can improve the articles for Marcelo Del Debbio, Paul Drye, Marco Donadoni, Pete Fenlon, Lee Gold, Joseph Goodman, Geoffrey C. Grabowski, Andrew Greenberg, Rob Heinsoo, Steve Henderson (game designer), Shane Lacy Hensley, Gary Holian, ‎Paul Hume (game designer), Jeff Koke, Christopher Kubasik, Lenard Lakofka, Scott Leaton, Chris Wiese, Ken Lightner, Clinton R. Nixon, ‎Mark Rein•Hagen, or ‎Marcus Rowland (author)? 129.33.19.254 (talk) 18:57, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Whew, that's quite the list. I'll see what I can do. Guinness323 (talk) 19:02, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
That nominator has been very busy, and I'm sure they are not done yet! Anything you can do would help. 129.33.19.254 (talk) 19:17, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Looking them over, I see immediate hope--that is, I should be able to quickly source some material and flesh out their wikis--for Rob Heinsoo, Gary Holian and Len Lakofka. The others are more obscure and will take a lot more time and a lot more digging.Guinness323 (talk) 19:35, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Whatever you can do! 129.33.19.254 (talk) 20:46, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

A lot of the articles in my initial list have been de-PRODded. As for Gary Holian, the PROD will expire on that article tomorrow, so to keep it from being deleted, I'm going to redirect it. Feel free to restore it when you're ready to work on it! 129.33.19.254 (talk) 23:48, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Finished Len Lakofka (sorry for the delay, laid up for several days with virus). Will move on to Gary Holian next week. Guinness323 (talk) 18:36, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Now that Holian's article has been restored, you may as well do what you can with it if you want to, in case someone has any bright ideas about deleting it. :( BOZ (talk) 02:06, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jim Roslof

Hey man, great work on Lakofka! Working on Holian would be nice, but since his article is a redirect now, I don't think we need to worry about that one getting deleted soon. Instead, could I ask you a favor to have a look at Jim Roslof and see what you can do there? I have heard from fellow TSR illustrator Stephen D. Sullivan that Roslof has terminal cancer and isn't expected to live much longer. It's been my impression that a lot of newspapers and the like are lazy, and would rather just copy from a Wikipedia article to write an obit rather than do any actual research (Gygax's obit in the Guardian is a famous example). Given that, I'd like the man to have a proper tribute (in case anyone actually pays enough attention to write him an obit at all, that is) with as well-sourced of an article as we can come up with. BOZ (talk) 20:36, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll get on that.If you have any bio details, let me know. Guinness323 (talk) 04:16, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Addded as much as I could in one day with tools I have at hand. If you can dredge up any other details, particularly early life, art education and what he did 1985-2005, it would help to flesh out the wiki.Guinness323 (talk) 22:33, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
If I can get on Facebook, I'll see if Mr. Sullivan can help out with more details/sources. Thanks for what you have done so far! BOZ (talk) 14:13, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good luck with citations: I don't have a copy of "Artists of TSR", in case there's a couple of usable paragraphs in that, but looks like thin pickings otherwise. Best hope might be if it is possible for someone from the industry to write up a retrospective of Roslof's life in a usable (non-blog) source...
aside, to y'both, we do have a five-fold expansion so any thoughts on whether it might be worth pushing for a DYK? Obvious targets would certainly include Jim's role in hiring so many of those artists who would go on to define a "generation" of RPG/D&D art. Regards, David. Harami2000 (talk) 15:01, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
There's an Artists of TSR book??? And yes, I agree that a DYK would be a great idea. :) BOZ (talk) 02:04, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
From Acaeum.com: Artists of TSR consists of twelve 8 1/2" x 11" black-and-white art prints protected by a wrap-around cover. An introduction is given by TSR Art Dept head Jim Roslof on the inside cover, and some background info on the artists is detailed on the inside back cover. The portfolio consists of two prints each by the following artists: Jeff Easley, Larry Elmore, Jim Holloway, Harry Quinn, Jim Roslof, and Tim Truman. The portfolio was released by the RPGA in 1982, but printed in very limited quantities (approximately 200). According to Frank Mentzer (a TSR staff member at the time), very few of these were actually sold, and the rest presumably pulped. DYK is a great idea. Guinness323 (talk) 02:18, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks on the expansion - made the mistake of getting caught up IRL and awaiting permission for a photo (hopefully still incoming). You caught pretty much everything I was going to add and then some - sadly thin on citable sources out there. Will add the others, now. Best wishes, David. Harami2000 (talk) 00:14, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm conversion with Steve Sullivan currently on Facebook, at [1] if you can see it, and if not a transcript below; anything you want me to ask him or say to him?

Glad you got Jim's photo from Jim Hollow. That's a great one.

The article is better, but there are some inaccuracies that I spotted on a quick scan. Evan and Paul (not sure of the spelling - Richie? It's been too long) were not artists, they were the Devo Department, along with Kevin Hendryx. But we were all very close, and Bill & Jeff jumped to their defense, leading to the "massacre" that seemed to have half the staff gone. Kevin went around then, too, and Erol didn't stick around much longer, either.

I moved from editorial to the art department shortly thereafter - as there was a talk of purging editors, too. Jim hired Jim H., then Harry, and then Larry -- who was my office mate when he first got there. Then Jeff. I think all of us were in the office above the Hobby Shop at that point. Clyde came later and Tim, too. By then, we were in the building we called "The White Elephant," and were joined by Jeff Butler -- and DSL and DCS III came back to do maps with me.

I don't know a lot about Jim's work after TSR, but he worked as a graphic designer at Yunker Industries -- right across the street -- for quite a while, if I remember. He was already living in Elkhorn when he was at TSR.

Sorry no citations for this stuff, but I was there, and that's how I remember it.

Oh, Bill and Jeff and company were all fired over the weekend that Jim was attending a funeral -- his mother's as I recall. Laura told me he always felt bad about that; he hadn't been there to protect his guys.

I guess you could post all this into a blog article or something, if you want. If it'll help fix Jim's article up. I'm not sure when/if the artist area was ever called "The Pit" -- it certainly wasn't when I was there. It was just the Art Department in what I (at least) used to call the Great Windowless Space; no one liked that big windowless bullpen room. They moved into an area with windows after I left in 1984 to help found Pacesetter.

Oh, I think Keith came after Tim and before Jeff Butler. Again, though, that's pure memory -- so it may not be completely accurate. I think Clyde was after Tim and Keith before Clyde, but....

Oh, I also believe that Jim R. predated Bill (for sure) and maybe Jeff as well. Possibly even Erol, under DCS III's art department. I could ask Jeff when I see him tomorrow, if I remember. Evan and Paul were definitely not artists, never. At the time, TSR's creative division was art plus Design, Devo, and Production (editorial). I was in Production, Devo was Evan, Paul, and Kevin -- that was all, I think, just those 3 guys, though it's been a long time.

In late 1980, design was Lawrence Schick, Zeb, Tom Moldvay, and Alan Hammack, kindof (he was also a manager). I might be forgetting someone, but.... Oh, Mike Price. Production was Harold Johnson, me, John Pickens, and later Ed Sollers, ...Pat Price, and Steve Winter -- in roughly that order, I think. Might be someone amid all that who has slipped my mind -- Jean Welles was a round, but I don't remember what department she was officially in. Frank was busy creating his own department -- RPGA -- though he was in Production for a while, too, I think. Jobs were a bit fluid back then, and there was a lot of overlap between design, devo, and production/editorial. One big happy family . . . until the "massacre."

Really, if you're at GaryCon this weekend you should try to corner me, Jeff, & Bill and grill us about the events and people. Between all of us, we'd probably arrive at a very accurate account.

Oh... I have no idea who Scott Taylor is. Must have been well after my time -- and, therefore, probably Jim's, too. BOZ (talk) 21:41, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Frank Mentzer

I'm not sure if it was you who added it, but the picture was deleted. I can restore it (or another admin can) if you can fix whatever the concern with the image was. BOZ (talk) 16:18, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was Rhuvein who added the image. That edit tag indicates the photo addition was done at Frank's request. I will re-post your note to his Talk page, and add an addendum indicating what permissions have to be in place for the photo file to survive on WikiCommons.Guinness323 (talk) 18:43, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Check out all the recent work on this article. I was also able to make some nice additions to TSR, Inc as well as a result of that. BOZ (talk) 16:18, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Some nice additions and new sources. Neat. I rewrote the final section, since Gygax never had the wherewithal to buy out Kaye's widow, even if only temporarily--Melvin Blume bought the share of the company directly from the widow, then sold them to Kevin Blume. If Gygax had had the money, the story of TSR--and roleplaying--would be very different.Guinness323 (talk) 18:42, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Looks good. Can we trim it down or move some of the details about TSR? The article is mainly about Don Kaye; the Williams ownership is a bit off, unless they were friends of Kaye's. AngusWOOF (talk) 22:01, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
My only thinking was that Kaye's untimely death--or rather, his lack of estate planning--directly led to Gygax's ouster a decade later. However, I see your point. (Edit -->) Removed reference to Williams, but added a short sentence stating that control of those shares led to Gygax's ouster a decade later. Guinness323 (talk) 23:21, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I tweaked it some more (TSR Hobbies Inc), and unlisted the possible percentages. AngusWOOF (talk) 16:46, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Another bio you might be interested in is Jean Wells. BOZ (talk) 11:43, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads up. I am just entering final week of the term and exams, but once I break through to the other side, I will definitely take a look.Guinness323 (talk) 12:31, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Cool, and hope you do well! BOZ (talk) 23:25, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Darlene Pekul

Hey there! You have done a pretty good job before of fixing up bio articles. Since Darlene's page was recently PRODed and the dePRODed, I was wondering if you could find some good sources and rework this one? BOZ (talk) 15:57, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Stephen R. Marsh

Hi there!

You have definitely been helpful in working on articles of people from the earlier parts of TSR's history. I found this draft in some pretty awful shape. After a bunch of work, it is still pretty far from good, but if you could find something to improve Draft:Stephen R. Marsh then maybe I could move this one to live article space. BOZ (talk) 06:21, 20 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Let me know if you are interested in this one, or possibly other suggestions! BOZ (talk) 23:09, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Totally slipped my mind, thanks for the wake-up call.Guinness323 (talk) 16:41, 16 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have done a quick edit of the material, still have to add references. Will do so as soon as possible. Would love to incoproate some of Marh's work on other game systems, but cannot find any independent sources to back them up. Guinness323 (talk) 20:01, 16 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hey man, whatever you can do! Thanks! Is there anything useful under the "external links" section that could be used as sources? BOZ (talk) 20:10, 16 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I decided to publish this one to article space: Stephen R. Marsh. It's not perfect, but I figure we can give it a go - it can always be moved back if it's not exactly ready. If you have anything more to add to it down the line, you know where it's at.  ;) Thanks! BOZ (talk) 23:31, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

David "Diesel" LaForce

Do you have any sources that can improve longtime TSR artist / cartographer David S. LaForce? BOZ (talk) 04:03, 12 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

I will have some time next week to check. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Guinness323 (talk) 04:51, 12 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Much appreciated on the save! It was leaning Keep already, but I think you helped push it in the right direction.  :) BOZ (talk) 20:20, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Glad I was able to help. I still have some print resources to check that might also add some content to the article. Guinness323 (talk) 20:42, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Sure, that would be great! And if you have time, I have ideas on other articles that need some work. BOZ (talk) 01:49, 19 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
You have asked at a good time, let me know which articles you consider to be priorities. Guinness323 (talk) 04:12, 19 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Looks like I mentioned previously on your talk page a few years ago Jeff Perren, Dave Megarry, and Eric Shook if you are interested in tackling those.
Right off the top of my head, I also like to finish up some draft articles so that they can be republished back into main article space. I don't know what exists in terms of sources, but you could take a look at some folks involved in early RPG work like Emmanuel, Gaye O'Keefe, or Michael Fishel? BOZ (talk) 19:19, 19 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Rick Loomis

Did you hear about what happened to Rick Loomis? BOZ (talk) 00:46, 25 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I was off the grid for the weekend, totally missed this. Dang!Guinness323 (talk) 15:31, 27 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Jim Holloway

BOZ, my son passed on the news that Jim Holloway passed away on June 28. I have not been able mto find an obituary, do you have any on-line resources that might help? Guinness323 (talk) 00:34, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I did see a post about that on Facebook as well - I did not include it here because FB isn't the best source, but then I guess we can't ignore it either. Everything that I see online points back to the Facebook posting, so that is the best we have right now. BOZ (talk) 06:24, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Lenard Lakofka

I head that he died yesterday... of course, so far I have only seen Facebook and forum posts, so hopefully something in the newspaper or some other kind of obit will surface soon. BOZ (talk) 13:43, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I noticed a bit of activity on his article yesterday that alerted me to his death, have been keeping an eye open for an official obit.Guinness323 (talk) 15:47, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ford Ivey was a death from last month. As happens all too often, it was reported unsourced so I reverted and tried for a few days to find an actual obit, but by the time it was published I had forgotten to keep looking. Someone finally found and added one though. BOZ (talk) 07:16, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Robin Wood

It looks like people are trying to post that Robin Wood (artist) died yesterday using an unreliable source; I have checked for better ones but so far I see nothing. BOZ (talk) 20:09, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, no RS yet, but fellow artist and close friend Diana Stein reported it on Twitter, as did her business partner Marianne McCann. Apparently the end of a long-running battle with cancer. Hopefully there will be an RS posted somewhere soon.Guinness323 (talk) 20:40, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Further to this, Robin had been blogging about her cancer experience here, and the last post, dated April 13 (a week ago), was posted by her longtime partner Michael Short, and it was pretty obvious she only had a short time left.Guinness323 (talk) 20:50, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, I added that as a source for starters. BOZ (talk) 20:56, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Here's more: Her partner husband Mike posted at 3 am today (Eastern Time, I believe) about her passing on Facebook here. That news was picked up by an on-line pagan news site called The Wild Hunt here. (Apparently she identified as a Witch.) Guinness323 (talk) 21:02, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha. I am sure more will follow from there. BOZ (talk) 21:08, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I keep seeing people trying to add information showing that Dave Nalle died this weekend, but I tried and could not find anything even remotely close to a source to verify this; do you see anything? BOZ (talk) 01:18, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

His spouse/partner Maggie Perkins posted yesterday on Facebook at 4:53 am (not sure what time zone) "It is with tremendous grief and sadness that I must share the passing of Dave Nalle due to the unbelievably swift and vicious COVID-19. I haven’t the words (which would surely surprise my Dave) to memorialize him properly just now, except to say he was the most honorable and generous man, and I am a better person having walked in life with him. My heart is broken. Due to the pandemic, a memorial service will be held in the future. Please hold his beloved children, Catherine Nalle, Caroline N. Quillinan and husband John Jack Quillinan, grandson Ronan, and his family and friends in your thoughts." I haven't found anything RS, but it is early days yet.Guinness323 (talk) 04:22, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Further to the above, Steve Jackson posted on Feb. 21 in the SJG "Daily Illuminator" (http://www.sjgames.com/ill/archive/2021-02-21) that Allen Varney had passed on the news of Nalle's death due to COVID. Steve Jackson is an RS, but he doesn't list the date of death. Do we add Nalle's death to the article without listing the date?Guinness323 (talk) 07:13, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I figure we can at least say something to the effect of "In February his death due to COVID was reported" or something like that? That much has been reported all over the place. BOZ (talk) 13:22, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Richard Halliwell

Co-creator of Warhammer apparently died within the last few days; he does not have his own article, but I would make one once a decent source for his death comes up. BOZ (talk) 15:57, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye out and start looking for other sources. Guinness323 (talk) 16:35, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm starting a draft page for him. The following two searches turn up his name at a number of different articles: [2][3] BOZ (talk) 17:22, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Kim Eastland

Another bio that I had meant to start but had forgotten about, was for Draft:Kim Eastland who died over a year ago. Of course, last January a lot was going on for me on Wikipedia and was avoiding creating new articles for a while, at that time. Given all the rules with BLPs nowadays, I mostly don't start new bio articles, but I figure the least we can do is honor someone properly after they pass on. BOZ (talk) 13:01, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Teeuwynn Woodruff AfD

Somehow I missed this recent AfD discussion, probably because the nominator transcluded it to "video games" rather than to "games". Fortunately the AfD was closed correctly. But for everyone's future reference, WP:SIRS criteria do not apply to BLPs, so the whole AfD was entirely mis-framed. Just for future reference... Newimpartial (talk) 13:44, 3 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Newimpartial, I agree with you that they lost their AFD bid, but I don't think you're going to get anywhere arguing with them, as they seem quite unreasonable when it comes to this article. BOZ (talk) 14:16, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Well, unreasonable or not, SIRS simply does not apply to BLPs. Period. Newimpartial (talk) 14:32, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
SIRS is listed under NCORP, but the very similar WP:SIGCOV is within the purview of GNG and it is applicable to everything. Graywalls (talk) 15:58, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Editors who aren't aware of the differences that were intentionally created as part of NCORP, which make the SIRS requirements quite different from SIGCOV, should not be nominating articles for deletion IMO. Newimpartial (talk) 16:11, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Martin McKenna

I just found out yesterday that Martin McKenna died last year, although his article only claims that he died sometime in September. That said, I tried a Google search which suggested he may have actually died in November? The problem is, we need a RS to verify what his actual death date is. BOZ (talk) 01:46, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

It seems to have been announced originally on November 1, 2020 by a German musician for whom McKenna had created cover art, who mentioned that McKenna died in "early September". This news was then passed on by author Roz Morris in a bimonthly newsletter she publishes on her website. She did contacted the musician and was sent an email with the details of the death as confirmation, but she did not provide any details (including the name of the German musician) other than McKenna was suffering from an undisclosed illness. Her newsletter gives a link to the memorial website set up for McKenna. Since the original source (the German musician) only gave the vague date of "early September", all sources since then have reported that. McKenna apparently died in Scotland after moving there in July 2020, but I have not been able to find a newspaper obituary, not unusual since apparently he lived on his own and had just moved to the area. Still searching, but this seems to be a case where there was no official word given and it has all been word of mouth passed on by acquaintances.Guinness323 (talk) 20:45, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha; I did not dig deep enough to see that the November dates were merely people reposting old news that had just gotten out. I think we will leave that as is until we know more. BOZ (talk) 01:48, 16 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Keith Poulter

Keith Poulter was redirected earlier today claiming that "Absolutely no notability established". Part of the problem is that Poulter apparently edited his own article to include a bunch of unsourced information, which I think will need to be removed if it cannot be sourced. I moved this one to draft space for now, but I'm sure he is notable as the founder of wargame company 3W. BOZ (talk) 01:46, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

He was interviewed in Issue 5 of Nexus (Task Force Games), that may provide valuable info, but I did not collect Nexus and can't find an on-line copy. There's good info here, would you consider this website RS? Guinness323 Also interviewed in Breakout #23, again, not a magazine I collected, alas. Guinness323 (talk) 21:51, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Having trouble finding secondary sources about Poulter. One small bit is that Roger MacGowan (co-founder of Fire & Movement and editor of issues 1-18), in an interview in F&M #94 (May-June 1994), talks about how Poulter bought F&M for 3W in 1988, and how MacGowan felt this was a conflict of interest because F&M had been an independent review magazine, and was now owned by a wargame publisher. However 3W only owned it for two issues. Still looking Guinness323 (talk) 21:21, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think that Tactical Wargamer site may be one of many examples of people who know what they're talking about, but would still not be considered reliable by WP because of the way the site is published. Might be good for an external link though? I think the Fire & Movement interview would be worth including information from, however. If we don't find much for him now, I will just keep this page in drafts. BOZ (talk) 01:57, 16 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Another editor did some expansion so that is a big improvement. :) BOZ (talk) 13:20, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ian Marsh

Hi Guinness323,

Thanks for updating Ian Marsh (writer). Just wanted to let you know that I'm giving you some space to edit in order to avoid edit conflicts and to make your editing less frustrating. I'll be back later to review the article. Cheers, Pilaz (talk) 08:43, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Kim Mohan

IPs added a mention of his death, of course unsourced, but Google tells me it is probably legit. :( BOZ (talk) 07:25, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I haven't seen an actual obit for him yet, but when it comes to these guys lately it seems like Facebook notifications and such is about all we get, but I'm keeping an eye out. BOZ (talk) 11:18, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
There are good articles on Wargamer (https://www.wargamer.com/dnd/kim-mohan-dies) and SNBC13 (https://snbc13.com/kim-mohan-author-of-dungeons-dragons-and-wilderness-survival-guide-has-died-obituary/) I'll try to incorporate some of that later today if I can eke out a few minutes. Other RPG bios

If you have the inkling to help out with any more bios in draft space, I have a couple of dozen or so needing anywhere from a little to a lot of TLC: User:BOZ/Draft pages. BOZ (talk) 23:31, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

That is an impressive (and daunting) list of drafts. I have a few projects of my own on the go, but let me see what I can do. Guinness323 (talk) 02:46, 18 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Tell me about it. :) I have worked on simply dozens of RPG-related bios (mostly game designers) over the past 6 months or so, and these represent the ones I have had the hardest time with - but I would like to think they are not hopeless cases. :) BOZ (talk) 03:27, 18 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
My suggestion would be to start with Adam Jury or Chris Seeman - both were deleted as a result of AFD, and while I have been able to add a good source to both, they need just a little more before I would consider petitioning the community to have them fully restored. If those don't excite you, I do know that you have been interested before in people from the early days of TSR. Maybe you would like to work on some articles I started recently, like Jeff Perren, Dave Megarry, or Eric Shook? :) BOZ (talk) 17:06, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll take a look at all of them and pick one out of the herd. Got a big project at work, might be a few days until I can respond. Guinness323 (talk) 23:11, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good - whatever you can, whenever you can. :) BOZ (talk) 19:50, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

David A. Trampier would be a good place to start. :( BOZ (talk) 15:21, 28 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Teeuwynn Woodruff 2

You already worked on her bio to save it from deletion, but it looks like Teeuwynn Woodruff died last week so I'm just saying thanks again and letting you know. BOZ (talk) 12:52, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bryan Ansell

I just found out today that Bryan Ansell died last week. BOZ (talk) 07:54, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
