Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Longhair\talk 03:44, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I do not receive any compensation for any edits or activity in wikipedia, I understand now that making an edit about skatenow by an account named skatenow can be seen as advertising, however, I was unaware of this policy. The intention was simply to update outdated information to current information as well as to try to add a profile picture of the correct individual Eric Kraan which this page does not provide and the mobile version is showing a picture of the wrong Eric Kraan Skatenow (talk) 04:19, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username would be acceptable, but it still seems that you have a conflict of interest, even if you are not paid. Please explain how your future edits will be consistent with that policy, and tell any topics unrelated to Skatenow that you might edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:22, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Thank you for pointing out the COI information page, was unaware of this policy at the time of making the edits. As you may see, this account was made six years ago and this is the first time it has been used, ever. I will make certain that this account is never used to make an edit on this page, and suggest updates via the VOI noticeboard for peer review. live and learn. thank you

Accept reason:

Accepted as a conditional unblock, on the condition of an article-space pageban on the Eric Kraan article. This will be appealable to WP:AN in six months, and every six months thereafter. Nosebagbear (talk) 21:03, 28 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Pinging blocking admin @Longhair:. Given the singular nature of the user's 2 edits - not adding a new advertorial URL, but just updating it to the current site, I'm inclined to believe them that it's a regular COI and extend enough ROPE to avoid breaching the rules in the future, subject to a article-space pageban (and a username change) - would this be okay to you?
Skatenow, if Longhair is okay with it, would you agree to a conditional unblock on two conditions: an article-space pageban on the Eric Kraan article - this would let you propose edits on the talk page of that article; and a username change to a name that doesn't suggest a shared-usage? Nosebagbear (talk) 16:30, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Nosebagbear: I'm okay with that. -- Longhair\talk 20:35, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
You need to make that note while logged in [I've checked that there's nothing on that immediate range to suggest they're block evading, just not checking they're logged in] Nosebagbear (talk) 17:52, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Nosebagbear, I would certainly agree. Thank you for the suggestion.Skatenow (talk) 17:55, 25 September 2021 (UTC)SkatenowReply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Eric Kraan) for Conditional unblock reason.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Nosebagbear (talk) 21:06, 28 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
