Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, GrowthEngineMedia. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 20:29, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. kelapstick(bainuu) 20:33, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

removed 'promotional' user name GrowthEngineMedia (talk) 20:39, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I'm not sure if the username is a typo (the underscore won't render in Wikipedia's software), but also because you've been reblocked for different reasons below. You will need to make a new appeal to address both the username and the spamming. TonyBallioni (talk) 16:31, 5 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Comment edit

I won't consider your request because I deleted all your spam articles, but you will not be unblocked until

  • you formally declare your conflict of interest. You are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:GrowthEngineMedia. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=GrowthEngineMedia|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}.
  • Give an undertaking not to write about companies with which you are associated

You should also note that none of your spam articles provided independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:

  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.

Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.

I think that, considering that all your edits have been promoting your companies that kelapstick has been generous in only soft blocking you, and perhaps didn't look at your other contributions. However, I don't think that you should be allowed to continue editing without assurances about future behaviour. Just to be absolutely clear, if you are allowed to create a new account, I will hard block you if you continue you your spam-only editing Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:42, 5 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, and I have reblocked as such. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:51, 5 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
