Don't put any welcoming crap here I've seen it already. And don't tell me you're glad I'm here if you're looking for a playmate. The only people I want to post here are those who want to give me something to edit that they are aware that I know about. I don't edit or comment on any article where I don't basically know everything there is to know. That's just how I do it. I expect this page to remain largely blank.

Horace Mann School (New York City)

edit
  • You'll probably notice, if you examine the page history, that I have not attempted to add information about the school where I could not find a verifiable source. I have approached the page as someone who has an interest in Wikipedia. I believe that my participation in the Horace Mann article has been helpful in improving it per Wikipedia's standards and policies. The knowledge that an alum would have that is otherwise unverifiable constitutes original research, against which Wikipedia has a policy. The perspective that an alum would have that is otherwise disputable is a biased point of view, against which Wikipedia also has a policy. You are welcome to use Horace Mann's website and publications to correct any errors you find on the page. Castigating me helps no one.
Also, since you've already seen the "welcoming crap" you are no doubt aware of the functions and etiquette regarding User talk pages. Just in case, I invite you to glance at the relevant guidelines before you make your next move. --Dystopos 06:07, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Advice on User Talk:Dystopos

Might I advise you get some remedial education? Perhaps at DeVry Institute of Tech. And stay out of my business. GreatBarrington

I'm going to attack and criticize every piece of information you post and every comment you make if they are not correct. 21:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC) GreatBarrington

  • OK. You can also just correct any errors yourself as you find them. --Dystopos 21:38, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't have time to watch everyone so I only look at people who are prone to spreading false info around the WIkipedia. GreatBarrington 02:27, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Warning: You have been added to my watchlist. I will be watching your every edit and contribution. Expect anything you put down to be immediately vetted. May I ask what I've done to deserve this honor? -Will Beback 21:31, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The answer is that I've recieved reports from friends and relatives that you have been editing some of their materials when they posted true information. I will say you shouldn't at all get the idea that I'm going to go around deleting everything you write. As long as it's true and unbiased I won't touch and in fact I'll thank you for it, given the dearth of quality contributions in many areas of the Wiki. 21:34, 8 February 2006 (UTC)GreatBarrington

Who do you think you are?

edit

I highly suggest that you read up on civility here at Wikipedia. I don't understand your intentions in being here but they don't seem to be in the best interest of the encyclopedia. --Cyde Weys 23:09, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is what I put on the talk page of the individual listed above:

I don't care what you have to say or what you think about anything. And I know the Wikipedia rules like the back of my hand, so you should know that I'll never do anything that could allow me to get kicked off. But telling you right here on your talk page that I've read through your edits and comments and none of them seem to be useful at all is fairgame, and the truth.

You've earned a spot on my watchlist. I really hope you learn how to be objective fast or me and my team are gonna have a lot of work cleaning up all the foolery and false info you spread around the wiki. Don't worry---we'll be in touch.

"so you should know that I'll never do anything that could allow me to get kicked off." I believe you Great Barrington, or theblacklarl. You haven't done enough do get kicked off yet. You've made two edits on an actual page, and everything else is on a talk page. So before you go and criticise everyone else, try adding something first. But, if you are in fact the theblacklarl then you are already in violation of the no sockpuppets policy. Wikster72 00:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good cite

edit

That citation you used for elite on HM is fine with me. Good research is all anyone has been asking for with regard to your editing. David D. (Talk) 20:39, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • In my opinion, that citation indicates that a writer for the NY Times characterizes Horace Mann as elite. This could, at a stretch since the article cited is not about the status of the school, be said to indicate an editorial position of the Times. In any case, it cannot be a fact unless there exists an objective definition of "elite" as used to describe preparatory schools. --Dystopos 21:00, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • The following was left on the user page:
The individuals who used this username are done editing Wikipedia. While many of the actions we made were in jest, they are not for this site, and we will no longer participate in the editing. We thoroughly apologize for any problems caused.
  • And this on the User Talk page:
I blanked this because myself and the other individuals who used this username will no longer be editing wikipedia, under any usernames or anonymously.
