Yohan Tavares

Hi there GOVVY, AL from Portugal here,

i am sorry if i seemingly accused you of any wrongdoings in this player's article, but this edit (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yohan_Tavares&diff=531454117&oldid=503298083) clearly shows the Beira-Mar stats being changed from 68 to 56 and his Avanca stats removed. They can be found in his FORADEJOGO.net link.

Second: i have improved the article to the best of my abilities with numerous refs, both in French (where he now plays and where he was born) and in Portugal (his "other" country). Thus, i have found one more reason for you/us not to use his SOCCERWAY.com link as a ref, because the 500.000 euro fee is downright wrong, from the WWW.RECORD.PT reference i attached to the article and others i can provide if you request, he had a buyout clause of 2 MILLION, very hard to believe he was sold for 1/4 of his price tag.

Hopefully we can "coexist" in this article, sorry for any inconvience - --AL (talk) 01:58, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the reply. Let's go bit by bit: 1 - i don't think LE MANS needs any section, for all we know he played ONE year with the juniors and another with the reserves, hardly notable; 2 - "he returned to the land of his ancestors", his parents are Portuguese, hardly vital but hardly wrong don't you think?; 3 - yes, if we can find references in English that would be a treat, but i'm 99,9999999999999999999999999999% sure there aren't any English references for Mr.Tavares, an obscure player playing in a relatively obscure league (Belgium) - there is this site, PORTUGOAL.net, which is about Portuguese football and in English, but there's hardly anything that's not about S.L. Benfica, F.C. Porto and Sporting Clube de Portugal, if you check S.C. Beira-Mar, the most "fresh" news about them is from 2 MARCH 2011 (see here http://portugoal.net/index.php/clubs/beira-mar/beira-mar-news)!; 4 - "Beira-Mar section could be expanded". Indeed, that's what i'm working on, it's better than it was correct?; 5 - the reference with the transfer fee does not state if the 2 million were paid in full you are 100% correct, hence i added the "...for a REPORTED fee of...". Do you agree with this compromise?

Attentively - --AL (talk) 15:12, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

FC Seoul templete

I don't accept your opinion. If Manchester United or Arsenal's templete don't honous, Does FC Seoul templte also delet honours? Wikepidia is not military. I insist that templeate individuality be acknowledged and respected. Footwiks (talk) 13:09, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Polite Consideration

I have undone your removal of my addition to the Fryers article. You may disagree with my exact wording, but the sentiment is important. The accusation made by Ferguson may lead to an inquiry by the FA, but until then no facts have been offered. Surely to imply that there may be truth in a potentially libelous comment is counterproductive. My addition was not meant to be a 'news article' as you strangely commented, but to add the balance to the way this delicate situation is framed in the article, so that a casual fan or reader does not get the wrong impression. I'm sure you don't want Mr Levy's lawyers taking things up a notch. Further, it does not reflect well on the player himself, as in the original form it could be read that Fryers played a part in an imagined scandal. All parties are innocent until proven guilty. Reporting on the accusation is ok, but again, I feel it is important to clarify on the page itself that as of yet his accusation is unfounded; not all casual readers follow citations. It's only about 15 words, and for the rationale I have just provided I think it is important to be there. Maybe you could think of a more elegant way of putting across the point, fair enough, but to delete out of hand is rash. I believe we had Tim speak with the press recently about this matter and he has some good quotes that could serve to counterbalance, or at least be cited along side with. Here, I have just found it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2259168/Zeki-Fryers-challenged-make-Spurs-team.html. Thank you for your understanding of this delicate issue. Stats tables

Do you mean the table in Nahki Wells #Career statistics? GiantSnowman 17:12, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

You are confusing tables and templates, and consequently confusing me - what do you want adding to the MOS? GiantSnowman 17:25, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
No, but there is consensus from a number of discussions that the table in Nahki Wells #Career statistics, or thereabouts, should be used. GiantSnowman 17:35, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Michael Greenberg (soccer)

Why not? AFD is not a vote. After four relisting, I made a judgement call. You are of course free to disagree with that. Wait a little while, after the related discussion at WT:FPL dies down, feel free to renominate the article for deletion. -- KTC (talk) 00:21, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Fryers feels 'disrespected'

I don't see any evidence in that Daily Mail article to support their assertion that Fryers felt disrespected. All it says is "Zeki Fryers was left feeling ‘disrespected’". The 'disrespected' quote isn't actually attributed to anyone, they just say he felt disrespected. I don't find that particularly convincing, tbh. – PeeJay 11:44, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

If the only person the quote can be attributed to is the author of the article, then it's not a valid quote; as far as we know, he made it up for the purposes of a good story. I can imagine that Fryers might have felt disrespected by Ferguson, but there is no actual evidence to suggest that he did feel that way. – PeeJay 11:58, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
