Swing Low edit

i just looked at this page for the first time and i see that the gesture for coming isn't there. was that left out deliberately or is it vandalism? i saw the discussion. civil, but not exactly friendly.Toyokuni3 (talk) 19:58, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blackpool Panthers edit

No worries, glad to help. I also thought maybe of copying and pasting whatever content is relevant to the Blackpool Borough article as if I recall correctly some of it is the same on both articles? The different headers I wasn't really sure which was the best option as there seem to have been so many variants in names, and it does look better as you have it.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 23:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah right. I must admit to getting oonfused by all the numerous clubs and nicknames and which club is a continuaton of which or not. Just glad though that they finally seem to have turned things round! ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 00:20, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

European Nations Cup Rugby edit

Looks vastly better. That's what I was hoping for. Thanks for the improvement. Of course it's outdated, but I'll amend it to reflect the 2008-10 divisions on Sunday.Alanmjohnson (talk) 05:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

You Tube footage for Keighly Cougars... edit

Could you get the club to issue a statment about the footage (possibly on the 'channel' concerned?)

That would settle the matter once and for all. 62.56.83.45 (talk) 13:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Service Areas edit

Yes, I see your point. It would be less confusing just to have their proper locations. JoelUK (talk) 15:04, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

cricket moves edit

just a heads up: what you are doing counts as splitting and as such the provisions of Wikipedia:Splitting apply - namely that you should state in edit summaries where you are moving content TO (with a wikilink) and when you create the new page, where the content has come FROM (with another wikilink). it's for legal reasons, and is all on that page. thanks, and keep up the good work :) ninety:one 16:49, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

Hi, this question is totally unrelated to Wikipedia, but you seem an expert in the field so... I'm moving to London in September, staying there for 4 years. I'm an American and something of a keen sportsman. My interaction with rugby is rather limited ( we played a bastardized version of Union on the playgrounds at school) and I hold no preference for League or Union. So my question to you is: Purely as a spectator, foreign to both sports but desperate for some sporting action... which would you recommend to me, league or union? -MichiganCharms (talk) 07:19, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow, thanks for so much info! I think League is closer to what I'm used to, though Union does look extremely interesting. I think I'll give both a shot. Thanks again!

History of rugby union matches between All Blacks and France edit

I know you are pretty good with English and grammar, and was wondering if you would mind a quick polish of History of rugby union matches between All Blacks and France? It's been mentioned by Tony at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/History of rugby union matches between All Blacks and France and doesn't require a major rewrite, just a polish. Please let me know if you have time, and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Shudde talk

Important vote at wiki-project rugby league edit

Many people have been working hard on getting a new infobox up and running and we would like to have your thoughts on the subject here.  CorleoneSerpicoMontana  07:15, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

3RR at Home Nations edit

Hi please stop edit warring. It is verified fact that the name of the country is Ireland not ROI. Thanks.194.125.86.121 (talk) 18:38, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

And West Germany was verifiable the Federal Bundesrepublik of Germany but West Germany was about a billion times more common and more sensible given that there were two Germanies.
Newsflash - there are two Irelands.

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

November 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a CSD i11 {{deletable image-caption}} tag from an image that appears on Rugby Leaguer & League Express,.Your edits have been reverted. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 14:19, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Neutrality Dispute not resolved edit

The Rugby League in Victoria article still asserts that it is growing in popularity despite any citations supporting the assertion. Simply adding more irrelevant citations and attempting to remove the neutrality tags is deliberately misleading to other editors as it clearly does not confirm to wikipedia standards. --Rulesfan (talk) 07:37, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rugby league in South Australia edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Rugby league in South Australia, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: South Australian Rugby League. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

No confusion but consider it work-in-progress. Much of the data on South Australian Rugby League ought to be moved to Rugby league in South Australia.GordyB (talk) 15:28, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

When moving content from one article to another, as in the above articles, it's important to say where you took it from in the edit summary, so that the contributions of users aren't lost. It's required in the GFDL license under which all content is released, and it can create problems if not done. Just a heads up for future moves. Best, – Toon(talk) 23:29, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Up 'n' Under edit

hello. the purpose of external links is to provide the reader with further information on a subject. as far as i can tell, there are no prohibitions and it is not uncommon to add cross referencing links particularly when much of the information is the same. --emerson7 18:03, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

while i certainly respect your point of view, there's nothing in policy or practise that prevents it from being there, and it is otherwise harmless. --emerson7 23:20, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rugby comparisons edit

The rugby league section in Sport in England contains uncited and subjective comparisons to rugby union. My edit have been undone, but I think this is worthy of discussion.

Irish rugby flag edit

Can we not use the "four provinces flag" which is copyright free and which the IRFU constantly use as a flag at matches ? ManfromDelmonte (talk) 17:40, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Scarborough Pirates ARLFC edit

I've had a stab at it. The website is wrong probably due to different people being involved there now. YC Tigers were an open age team that stood alone from the local junior teams. The RLC history article is correct insofar as some people will have joined and helped to establish the new side. I don't know any of their recent history though LunarLander // talk // 00:55, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of InterTown Series edit

A tag has been placed on InterTown Series requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Rugby/league/football edit

Yes OK it does make sense in that the players and fans of rugby union refer to it as 'rugby', as you say it was the assertion that rugby league is never referred to as rugby that was clearly wrong. In Australia, I think, rugby league is actually usually called 'football'.Haldraper (talk) 17:27, 19 March 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.109.81.205 (talk) Reply

Removal of content edit

You've done a pretty decent job on the Cricket in Afghanistan and Cricket in the Netherlands articles, but if you do any more could you please not remove content from the national team pages? On the Afghanistan national side article you were a little careless and broke a reference. It's not as if the material you're removing is irrelevant to the article.
